    That’s really interesting. Fish and turtle keeping in Germany is quite different. Here you don’t see fake plants in general. It’s more about rebuilding their habitat and have a real ecosystem with plants, sand and so on. It seems in the US people like to keep the tanks “clean”and kinda empty. (Just Noticing)

    It was so exciting to see mine, I feel like a celebrity noticed me! I’ve gotten so much great info from your videos and love you’re enthusiasm and positive kind nature. 💚 I have been slowly upgrading my tank and so far have added a few pieces of driftwood and more rocks. I really want plants, but my turtle was eating the fake ones and I don’t know the first thing about live ones. Maybe one day you could do an in depth video on live plants with which ones are best and how to care for them. Anyway, I really appreciate you and your content.🙏🏼

    Great input and such. Atm mine is like the Spanish tank, but the Swiss is how I'm aiming from the beginning, because my rescued yellow bellied slider and map turtle prefer the water way more, and while the ybs likes basking a fair bit, she still swims a hell of a lot more. I made a floating dock with a ramp from fake rock, dead cheap. Later I'll probably add a fake beach are for the map. Anyway, now I'm seeing people use sand, I'm in awe- how does one syphon the tank clean without removing sand, and how does the excrement not mix among the sand? Also any advice for filtering the water would be hugely appreciated, I've made a hole in my floor with a pipe to the drain for easy syphoning and the occasional almost full drain (keeping good bacteria). It's a huge tank, about 850 liters if full, so half that at present. The filter definitely isn't best for the size, it's a three segment modular foam thing, I clean that and spot syphon the tank every couple of days, big "Bertha", or affectionately "lady B", the ybs drops a lot, and Infront of me after I'm done cleaning it haha. Anyway, the local aquatic place advised a pond pump, laguna 3000. It's of course ott but it's roughly 3x the rating of the tank, albeit roughly 600 more. It uses UV, so I don't think that's good for the good bacteria-i assume. I love how easy it is to clean and indicates when it's dirty, very good looking it up. Please advise, ms guru :) great vids!! Thanks sm for your knowledge and enthusiasm

  • @beanswildlife8375

    I would say that you don’t really need a filter for it to be proper in an outdoor setup as long as you have floating water plants like water lettuce or water hycanth or water lettuce, ive bred red ear sliders and they love the kind of murky water

    Hi! I'm upgrading my tank and I'm gonna go barebottom or tile (so no beneficial bacteria in substrate) and I'm going to be using a canister filter for the first time. Will it house enough beneficial bacteria for the tank? Or should I put a sponge filter in it too?

    Oh my gosh I love your videos and I have a hilarious Petco story. So this dad with his daughter were looking at red eared sliders and they were asking questions and an employee was trying to answer them. He asked how big they get and she said not that big so I showed him with my hands. Then he proceeded bro ask if you can train them to come to you when you call their name. I said yes because you can and told him it'll take a while to do it. First the employee she said I don't think so. Then after I said what I did she said Oh YEAH she clearly didn't have reptile knowledge but it's ok but the sad part is I'm 12 and she's probably in college.

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hii Newer Subscriber here! I love your videos and it's been very helpful for me as I plan to get a turtle of my own over the next 6 months or so. I love the tank videos they are giving me ideas on how to set up my 55 gallon tank. I was wondering if it's possible but could you setup an amazon storefront with items you reccomend that way all the links are in one place and you could get some profit from it when people shop your storefront which could really help you out with extra funds to help you continue on your youtube journey. Keep up the great work. ❤

    Hello there humans! I know this is kinda off topic, but have you ever seen turtle or fish abuse with your own eyes (small tank, no basking lights, ect). If so, what's the story? Did you say anything?

    A red eared slider, about an year old, was kept in minimal water wrongly by someone I know. I brought it home. Set up a nice tank. And now it doesn’t know to swim it seems. It starts panicking and just doesn’t go to swim. If left in minimal water it is quite comfortable. What do I do to teach it to swim?

    • @Ali-tx4jv
      @Ali-tx4jv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Start with low water level and then slowly increase the water level with each water change . This will give the turtle enough time to get used to deeper water .

    Hi ! I am about to get a baby turtle.... But..... People say they carry some kind of bacteria and also many worms and stuff get into they're shells......They also say that they're aggressive and stuff..... I am confused should I get it or no...... Even if I do.....which is better aquatic turtle or land turtle?

    • @pandasquad6508
      @pandasquad6508 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also wanted to ask...... Can we feed snails to the baby turtle????

    • @Mateo-ev3lx
      @Mateo-ev3lx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turtles have salmonella or traces of it in their digestive tract. For the aggression, it really depends on what turtle but I am pretty sure they are not very aggressive. For the turtle or tortoise question, whichever you want more is the answer. if u are willing to put in the work for them and you know your stuff you should be good. I recommend a Redfoot tortoise if u decide on tortoise because they are one of the easier species to take care of and are very hardy. Hope this helps!!

    Do you think I will be fine with 1 musk turtle in a 29-30 gallon tank?

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that could definitely be sufficient, if you feel the turtle needs more space, bigger is always better :)

      No

    • @TheTurtleGirl
      @TheTurtleGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. You might be able to do one depending on the subspecies of painted and also the sex. Males stay smaller and a single male eastern or southern might be fine in a 40 it's whole life, but definitely not two. ;)
