- Here is the process I went through to diagnose my speedometer issue. New capacitors worked like a charm. If you have any questions leave a comment below. Thanks for watching!
Tools used:
Soldering Pen
Electrical Silver bearing rosin core solder
Desoldering pump
Multimeter

Could you please share the steps you took to measure the wiring to the VSS?
Just found this video. I just want to say thanks and I love you.
😂😂 let us know if it works for you!
This fixed it! Now works great- Thanks.
Same problem thanks for the video 🙏
Glad to help 🙏🏻
@@KSSRacing hopefully you have more videos on the del sol lol I just got one I'm going to need the help 😄
@@johnnytapia8416 we have lots of videos on the Del sol! Feel free to browse our videos
@@KSSRacing sure will thanks I appreciate it 🙏
this problem is progresive or one day works ok and the next day is so wrong? my speedometers shows like 6-10MPH less than the real speed, is the beginning of this problem?
Same as mine. 6.8uf was the problem. many thanks, problem solved.
Glad to help!
The 6.8 uf is the blue one ? I have two brown 25v?uf and one blue that just say 271E ..
If you are looking for voltage and capasity of capasitors on speedometer before you take it apart here is it:
2x 35V 27uF
2x 25V 22uF
1x 25V 6,8uF
Are they all the same for every del sol? I can't take apart mine to check and see as I daily it so I need to order it and replace it in a day once I got the replacement parts. I need to fix mine to make it pass state inspection. Thanks!
@@povoljan13they are all the same
Hey salute from kuwait my odometer was working fine now when im at 120 km/h the odometer shows im 20 km/h what the problem you think?
The capacitors... follow the steps in this video
So i just took my speedometer out. It looks exactly like yours. Little burned on the circuit board and the solder on the resistor looks burned
Time for new capacitors !
You didnt mess with the resistor? And how did you get the speedometer needle off? Lol
@@TheFettiallday you don’t need to take it off & no I didn’t mess with resistors
Mine is having the same problem, so before i take it apart, is there anyway i can know witch capacitors i need to replace before opening it up?
Worth it to just replace all, I think there’s 2 or 3 on the speedo itself. Easy & cheap enough to replace while u have it all apart

Did you know what are the capacitators ? I cant see on mine the reference
Bump. What capasitors?

There you go.
2x 35V 27uF
2x 25V 22uF
1x 25V 6,8uF
I wish you had a video where you disassembled the odometer I don’t see how I can take it apart without breaking it
You mean the cluster itself ? Or the actual odometer? Cause you don’t have to take the odometer apart
There’s a couple videos on TH-cam on how to disassemble them, mostly just a bunch of tabs all around!
Where do you get capacitor from
Just a local electronic repair shop
I appreciate it. I got a speed sensor from the junkyard. Didn't help. Checked the wiring. All good. Next step was to get another speedometer at the junkyard but im going to do this right away
@@TheFettiallday I did all the same as you, it’s 100% the capacitors then
Even my spare cluster had bad capacitors!! So I put new ones in both
Thanks again, now the hunt for capacitors starts!
