  • The 2024 presidential election is actually fifty-one simultaneous elections with the outcome decided by what happens in seven swing states. On October 16, the Institute of Global Politics takes a deep dive into the politics and current trends in two of those states, Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Every likely path to victory for Vice President Harris runs through Pennsylvania and former President Trump has to win North Carolina to return to the White House; yet polls show the two candidates to be in a virtual dead heat in both states. What’s going on in those states and what should we be looking for on November 5? Join Michael Nutter, former Philadelphia mayor, SIPA professor, and IGP Faculty Advisory Board member; Caitlin Legacki, political strategist; María Teresa Kumar, Voto Latino CEO; and Berwood Yost, Franklin & Marshall College Center for Opinion Research Director; in conversation with Timothy Naftali, SIPA Senior Research Scholar, presidential historian, and CNN regular contributor.
