I believe Walker's appearance back in the bunkhouse is a testament to John's desire to regroup his life, ranch. John solved 3 problems with the bunkhouse. He got his son to accept his new role, he took down Rips aggressiveness, and kept a good cowboy who just wants to do his job.
Kaycee is the son that left because he was in love with Monica. Rip became the son that John needed, whether John knew it or not. Rip resents Kaycee for leaving and still having Johns affection.
I would love to watch this show and even willing to pay a small fee to do so. But until I can see it without paying some cable company for all kinds of garbage I'm not going to watch or speak highly about it.
