    Could not agree more about the quality of the GW brushes they are garbage

      I ment more the brush you got in conquest 1. It really is trash or atleast IV trashed it quicker then usual. Tho I haven't used a gw brush for a while other then my Xl base brush which has survived 3years so far

    That’s pretty much how I paint my Death Guard. Base paint green, dry brush lighter green. Paint the black, silver etc. wash the entire thing in Agrax. Add some Ryza Rust and Nihilakh Oxide. Done!

    Hello I have a Problem by shading my necrons with nuln oil: often some places on the shade are glancing but I want my models matt so that I Must paint the whole Modell again what can I do against it it does Not dry so good for any reason and I dont understand why

      @ggminiaturegaming  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there are 2 type of the shade. there is normal and then there is a gloss, make sure you are using the none gloss one but even so it will still have alittle shin to it. You can also try thinning it down with a little water or lamium medium. That should help it go on smoother and rest in the recesses more. Another thing you could try it get yourself a mat varnish for when you are done with them model and give it a spray and it will mat the whole thing down. maybe leave the plastic rod off your necrons till after you use a varnish :)

      I'm new to the hobby so take it with a grain of salt, but I've been using Technical sotrmshield to seal parts of my models and it seems to seal the figure while giving it a matte look

    Great video, thank you. I don't seem to be able to use Agrax Earthshade properly. I've ruined a few models by using it. As I wipe it on the model it starts created streak marks and ends up looking like the model has been dragged through the mud. Might be ok for some Chaos models but far too grungy for anything else. Not sure what I am doing wrong or if there is perhaps something wrong with the wash. I don't have this issue with nun oil or other washes.

    • @GGMG
      @GGMG 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agrax is used for the dirty grimmy kinda feel. I use it as an all over wash for that eact reason when im painting up a friends army. Nuln will give you a much darker ton but cleaner. You can try thinning down agrax for a tonned down effect with some lamium medium if you have it. Its def not you.

    I’m a new hobbiest just a few months now I got the starter citadel brush in the 13 paint kit. But I went out and got a few Newton Windsor cotman? I believe they are. They were 19.99 I think I got a size 10 and size 5 I can get everywhere I need with them very well. I was at my local GW today witch is an hour drive both ways for me I thought I’ll grab some new brushes while I’m here and I also need a pin vice. THE PIN VICE WAS THE CHEAPEST THING at 32.99 the cheapest brush I seen that was available was 34.99. I also needed primer and due to the pandemic I’ve had a hard time
    Finding anything that would work just as good for cheaper. So I bought a can of seer grey primer, it was 24.99. They say it’s an expensive hobby the models them self are very reasonably priced for how long it takes to build / paint. Does anyone know any primer alternatives that work as well as the GW primers? It would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for the story book, and thank you for this video mate I’ve made good use of it !!

      Hey bud. Glad I could help even tho iv never been happy with my efforts in this vid. It is expensive. What you paid for 2 Winsor brushes I paid for 10 lol I don't use expensive brushes but I do use good ones. Go check out Luke's aps TH-cam vids he does a good vid on primers. But you can always go get a cheap spray paint just get a grey or black and make sure it's not a filler primer. Just go with a standard flat colour from your local hardware store. I don't know your country so can't recommend one to go to.

      Billy Binks thanks bro I appreciate you taking the time to respond to me! I’m from Canada so probally a krylon or rustolem. Yeah honestly when I seen them I was like oh nice 20$ that’s not bad but come to find that’s pretty pricy for a brush but was blown away by the price of the gw brushes and they don’t even look all that’s good!

    I painted yesterday my first Tau and first mini and didn't go so bad except for the wash which left the pannels a bit too dark and grimy. I cleaned up the excess the way I could but I wonder if I need more skills or another shade. I didn't soak the whole figure in the wash, but it stained anyways.

    • @GGMG
      @GGMG 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Still cant beleive this vid is still gets comments so thanks. Yeah washes will stain anything it touches you usualy need to go back over areas with your original colour or the next layer colour your using to clean up. Just part of the process. Youll get better at being neater over time but in saying that im messy when i do washes normaly i just spend some more time cleaning up. As for another wash colour maybe depends on what your og base you where washing over or you can thin down washes to make them less intense

    Question, I painted a marine more or less white/light gray, and I used the Agrax Earthshade Shade over it and it’s pretty much turned all the white a dirty brown color. It looks pretty dope actually but it’s not what I was going for. Are there different shades for brighter colors? I see you recommend going back over certain colors after the wash dries, is that the best course of action?

    • @ggminiaturegaming
      @ggminiaturegaming  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah washes will do that but its not the end of the world. you can always try just doing a recess wash instead of an all over and that will help not stain the armour to much. but yeah going back over it with your main colour is the best option. There are now contrast paints that can do a good job like the apothicary white which wasnt out at the time i did this vid. you can also thin down washes with some medium which wont stain the panels as much. then there is the gloss varnish trick where you spray it all with gloss and then wash and it should run more in to the recesses and then you can just spray with a matt varnish to get back to painting. I hope some of this helps if you need more help just ask and ill do my best

    • @GGMG
      @GGMG 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Beforehand. There is no need to varnish before using gw washes. Its a completely different story if you are planning on using oils tho.

      @@GGMG If I already applied a satin finish to the model (i kind of already did) would that negatively affect the nuln oil/earthshade wash that's put over it?

    • @ggminiaturegaming
      @ggminiaturegaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for late reply. Yeah so the wash will have more a tendency to flow into the recesses and move away from the flatter parts meaning you have less of a stained surface.
