- The National Weather Service confirms Gaylord, Michigan was hit by a tornado Friday, May 20, 2022. Police say multiple homes and businesses have been damaged in the area. (Video provided by Steven Bischer)

I live in Gaylord it just me and my family I’m so thankful.and will put lot of prays for everyone!
I'm so upset. I lived in that town for 2 years. Got married and lived on that same street. I'm praying for everyone there. So sad.

I am so sorry for you people up in Gaylord , Michigan. I imagine you don't know what it's like Having gone through a tornado like that unless you have. My prayers for everyone Having to pick up the pieces and keep going.
I live 7 miles south of Mancelona.They were calling for severe weather.I could hear thunder every 5 seconds.I knew somewhere north of us they were getting hit pretty hard.This was right before the news warned that the storm was intensifying and heading into Gaylord.Take care everyone.
My brother in law lives about 7 miles south of Gaylord he said this was a really bad storm his video of Gaylord was unbelievable.
I used to live in Gaylord when I was around 4 ish.. I am devastated because I knew people who lived there and probably still do.. I pray for them to be okay. I had a bff there and from what I heard she was in the direct hit. My prayers to everybody who lives there and to those who lost family member and friends, and to those to are injured/ have a friend or family member injured. Gaylord is such a. beautiful place as well.. get better Gaylord! ❤️🙏🏻

I was near Gaylord when it happened. It was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me
I'm over in Alcona and got caught in a bad tornado (wiped out a neighboring town) when I was a kid. To this day, I am terrified that we'll get hit by a tornado at night, since there are no sirens up here and it's pitch-black in most places.
@@dixie0625 it scared the shite out of me. Where I live we had a small closet in the basement, me my mom and my brother were in there. We were on the phone with my step dad. He was freaking out. When it was done we went outside and there was golf ball size hail.

I live 30 minutes away from Gaylord and we got a tornado warning when my friends were over, we were terrified
I live about 2 hours away from Gaylord and we had a pretty nasty storm too, nowhere near that bad though. Haven't seen the sky that ominous in a long time. My prayers are with the families that lost loved ones and the people who were injured.
Devastating. I used to live there. Crying so much for everyone. I'm so sorry.
Stop through Gaylord frequently going up to the UP. This is absolutely heartbreaking to see.
I hope that the people who Lost their homes have family or friends they can stay with until they sort things out. Life is short, precious,and always endanger of being lost. Treasure each moment .

I was on northbound I-75 just coming into Gaylord city limits when my phone warning went Off ! then I spotted it ! At first excited, but then it got closer and closer to crossing Southbound 75 and coming right at us ! Can't explain by text how crazy terrifying this was.i was able to get the big F250 (as it shook) up to 90 and out run it... barely !
Whoa! I'm down here in Ingham County, good on you for getting the heck out of there. Gaylord is a great place, I hope everyone there comes out of this with much resolve, and new found strength.

There is a video of that tornado forming with a couple, I think Keith. He is so calm, she wants to get outta there. The tornado passed right by them. Great video, but they just got lucky that Mr Tornado didn't decide to turn right into them.
Oh, and my heart goes out to all of the Gaylord tornado victims!

My parents got super lucky. They called earlier and said that the storm went way to the north of them in Montmorency County.
That’s crazy my grandpa owns a lake house in Gaylord and I drove past those stores when I’m there and now there destroyed ☹️

They have had some wild weather up there a few days earlier Traverse City set a record temp of 95 that is unheard of for this time of year. I near 100 degree temp is very high that far north in Michigan it happens in July August a little.

Lots of damage, that hobby lobby got totally destroyed, so did that trailer park, hope everyone is okay and not too many people are injured, beautiful captures of the tornado though, but still, I hope people are okay

I'm thinking they might categorize it as at least an E2, I personally voted for E3 due to the amount of damage. Apparently they rate them by damage not wind speed or size..
@@solarpony Yeah, that's why I said EF3.
The damage shows some pretty solid looking buildings knocked over and it seemed to have left a very clear damage path.
Also for anyone else reading, EF stands for Enhanced Fujita scale. It rates Tornado Strength by damage. It's enhanced as the old scale wasn't very accurate.
That was my guess at the video but I haven't seen the downtown area or the whole extent of the damage. This seems to be the best video so far.

Had a tornado (E1) blast thru Baldwin MI about 2 or 3 years ago. Kind of "up North" too. Mother Nature is Piiiiiissed.
