Just remember, if you think you met terrible people, there are probably worse

  • @theratking1034

And that is why in business you trust no one. Its about money, and they'll use your hopes and dreams to line their wallet, so instead, use them to line your own.

    LET'S GO WRITER'S GUILD

  • @OM19_MO79

It‘s amazing how powerful is the guilt of writers. They gave him full credit out of remorse.

The Iron Giant was so underrated. Very wholesome, yet both hilarious and action-packed at the same time. They also nailed the historical accuracy of the movie being set in the cold war.

So that's why this movie didn't do so good in the box office but is considered a cult classic today

  • @MilkyWayMarsBar

Sad. If he let them get away with it, everybody wouldn't even know that Brad Bird made Iron Giant, a classic masterpiece. Thank goodness he caught them and stopped them in the nick of time.

Guild is powerful, never let them tell you otherwise.

Warning: creatives going to meetups, hold your dearest from the eyes and ears of stranger danger. Vampires and succubus come to siphon and recycle your concepts, your years of work. It’s okay to commune, to learn from each other. I learned the difference the hard way when i saw my exact title about people whose life stories coincide along a bus route. Dude even used my same title and character concepts. I was naive, felt powerless. Even after i stood in front of his table, reading, i didnt have the courage to confront. He was seated and still managed to look like he was leaning back waiting to be slapped. Yep it’s best to do some sort of registration before going public. Only share learning at these meetups. People don’t do verification of identity with the group. No way there to know who’s legit or thief. Sad, so sad. I rode crosstown to a convention to see i’d given away my work to one of those bloodsuckers.

It’s also a shame that Warner Bros. refused to properly market The Iron Giant despite how much praise Brad Bird got from the executives. It’s like they wanted to intentionally sabotage his movie so it would be forgotten about just so they could steal his idea.

Thievery exists in almost every element of the movie process. Was asked to supply some concept sketches for a production... Didn't hear back from them. Few years later, late one night I saw a film on TV. Rushed to my room, dug out the old script, sure enough it was the same film. And sure enough, the monster looked eerily familiar... Like it jumped from my sketchpad "somehow". Big or small budget, there are sneaky bastards everywhere.

  • @yashbhatnagar1478

That is why I fear to pitch my ideas in front of executives

  • @powergamerex844

Talk about selling out to someone.

  • @kendallewis1753

Take notes people! This could happen to you if you’re not as careful!!!

  • @AdamOwens135

Imagine if studios actually worked together to help talented people instead of rip off talented people

  • @quantemwensday

they aren't talking notes because they like your idea

  • @theotherjared9824

Brad Bird wanted to make this film for a very particular reason. His sister was previously shot and killed by her estranged husband in a murder-suicide. That event put the idea in his head of the gun coming to life and not wanting to be a gun anymore, which is the theme of the film. Executive meddling would absolutely destroy that message.

  • @filmfocusmind

I have some works registered with the guild, but I have been told that getting a copyright is better as they are like less than $100 (at least when I bought mine)
