I love this video! It was just what I needed at the right moment.
Love your freestyle, too! Ah, the freedom and the excitement of being yourself. Being free from your own idea of what yourself is supposed to be. Many of your insights are actually applicable to life in general. I fell in love with dancing exactly because it enables me to see where I'm at in general. You can progress emotionally and mentally, but at some point you get stuck unless you include your body as well. I've struggled to find myself in the whole dance world. Freedom to just be who you are and interpret things how you interpret them in the moment is what gives way to progress. And since there's no end to progression, why not love who we are in the moment? As imperfect as we judge ourselves to be. Releasing resistance to our own being. Improving as a message of "I love you and want you to feel more comfortable and empowered in your own skin" instead of "You need to be better cuz you're not good enough" I don't think improvement is possible from that energy, unless it is taking a toll in some other way..
You seem very genuine and I thank you for sharing and inspiring me! It's actually priceless, you explain it so easily because you understand it so well. Thank you for not giving up on yourself when you felt low. 🙏 You've had a profound impact on my journey. ^^

Thank you for your comment It may not seem much but knowing that I have a positive impact in another dancer’s journey is one of my biggest motivation to keep doing what I do. 🙏
You totally understand the message of this video and that’s something I also need to remind myself from time to time which is stay free in my mind and with my movement.

Wow this guy is a freaking genius. How lucky Was I to Stumble on to his channel
He is doing what so many dance teachers on his level do not do. He’s making the right beginner feel comfortable. He is actually giving the beginning a tool that he can use to transform himself as a dancer to explore his own bodies potential and to get over his awkwardness. EssentiallyHe’s teaching self love and acceptance

HEADPHONE USER WARNING!!! Turn down your volume to half, sometimes the mic touches Nickel's neck and it distorts the audio to a memeworthy levels 😄

Any move can be a dance move and any dance move can stop being a dance move and just become movement.
Very powerful, I think this alone can make someone a dancer if they have a good enough idea of groove and musicality.

I used to do a dance exercise called” five Rhythm” where we could explore different Kinds of Movement styles not necessarily dance moves. Those five rhythms Included lyrical flowing staccato Caos and stillness

I’m reminded of the “ Carlton dance “that actor dancer Alfonso Rivera perfected on the show FreSH PRINCE OF BEL AIR He took An awkward movement and turn it into a dance that is now entertaining and imitated

Once again, thanks for such high quality content. Would love to see you go deeper into the concept of intention. Been meditating on this for quite some time, because as you rightly said and even I think the same, a lot of the impact comes from the mind behind the movements / body. What exactly do you mean when you say "intention", and is there some way to work on this or implement this better? I tried experimenting with this many times when I'm playing around, and whenever I go into uncertain areas of music / movement, if I have worked on this type of movement (Even kinda similar) before, I'm more confident which then comes across through my body language, which naturally looks better (In my opinion obviously) but this goes against what I believe and have experienced (Sometimes) true freestyle to be. I guess what I'm trying to understand is, how to intend but still do stuff accidentally? Freestyle is at the end of the day, the art of highly controlled accidents expressed through the language of music.

My approach is to Patrice as consistently as possible, so that my skills become second nature to me therefore I can leave room for spontaneity in the moment.
I don't get it right every time it's still a work in progress for me too 😊

Hey Nickel, I wanna say that your videos helped me a lot to know myself better in freestyle. so thank you so much for that. Also, I have a question to ask. The thing is, I noticed when you dancing you hummed the song quite a lot of times. So is this helping you for any reason?
I'm little bit Curious about this😅
Hope to get a reply from you soon🤗. And thank you once again, you doing a wonderful job. Love from india🇮🇳🫶

Hey man I’m glad you’re finding value from my videos 🙏
To be honest it’s just a habit I have I don’t even realise that I do it until I see the videos 😂😂😂
But I don’t think it has any impact in my dance.
