Despite the many crashes these auto-braking systems will prevent, which will save insurance companies millions of dollars, I'll bet you that the insurance rates wont go down A SINGLE PENNY!

Hyundai, Toyota, Kia and Volvo already have this technology installed in every model standard for the last 7 years or so.
BMW and Subaru had them for a while as well. Dont know for sure, but most luxury car probably has it. But we need to have it on all cars. This will save lives.
The new safety standards will put the price of a new vehicle even further out of reach for regular folks. We will just keep fixing our old jalopies, costing lives not saving them.

They just want a technological nanny state where you can’t do anything without oversight
More govt control , how about people just take responsibility for control of there vehicle . Govt is out of control
they're doing this because people can't take control their vehicle. why do you think car insurance is up?
This would also benefit the driver, as you would avoid manslaughter charges and even higher insurance rates.
