    In the UK we are forced to fit a 750 Watt Bafung init ourselves as no bike shop is allowed or even willing to touch this due to the 250 Watt EU pedelec limit. The EU limit is a load of ruddy nonsense in one in five hill country of course, so your videos are so helpful, thanks.

    thru the gear sensor? Can the cable go thru the sensor with the signal cable
    exiting toward the front of the tricycle (recumbent) or MUST the signal
    cable point towards the rear derailleur? Hope this makes sense. Please

    Nice job Ms. REV Becca. My Bafang kit should be here in a few days, at which time I will install it onto my AZUB TRIcon recumbent tricycle. You answered a major question I had about installing two brake sensors as well as a gear sensor, that being do I need a splitter or not? Yes. Much appreciated. Additional question: Is it necessary to upgrade the chain ring to something like a Tekkie Bling Ring which allegedly has longer, stronger teeth. I get the feeling the Bafang motor is quite powerful. Will the gear sensor eliminate the need for such an upgrade? Thanks again.

    Rebecca, there are 2 red/black wire groups exiting my bbs02 motor. The thicker pair are obviously for the battery, but what are the thinner wires supposed to connect to?
    I thought it might be a light, but that runs from the usb port on the display!!!

  • @make.and.believe

    Well done video! Thanks for the info. Chain replacement is a requirement or nice to have ? And if yes what’s the highest preferred grade of chain? Also if I want to remove the front derailer is there some sort of a guide for the chain onto the front sprocket ? If you do see these questions then I throw one more in. In regards to the rear gear cassette, I find the large quantity of gears unnecessary. Would there be any advantage to having a smaller number of gears and having them mixed so that they are easy to find. For example on my dream bike I’m going to have 4. One for climbing mountains, one for cruising at optimum battery performance, one for going faster/cruising on a flat speedway, and one for top speed going down mountains ?
    From my experiences if find the large number on the cassette just make shifting between smoother, and ultimately really only use three or four gears in specific speed/load range and don’t spend effort hunting the rear gears for that perfect match. To much lost energy, and for sure it’s gonna need to change soon. Thanks and your vids a very well done.

    • @Revbikes
      @Revbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chain replacement is required when it's worn out (stretched). You pay for what you get.. higher price equals longer life usually.
      No need for chain guide usually. You can leave the derailleur on if you want. Or choose a Bling Ring to hold the chain on better.
      You can choose however many gears you want really. I've known people who change the order of the cogs on the cassette around.. so the gears they want arterial use regularly are in the middle of the cluster, with the straightest chain line.. why not?!? 😁

    Hi good video and clear instructions. What is your feedback re gear sensor upfront next to the shifter or back at the derailleur. Thankyou

    • @Revbikes
      @Revbikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. The gear sensor should be plugged in direct to the motor, at the rear, because the effect seems to be a more smoothed out 'off then on' transition from that sensor plug. Those same plugs up at the handlebars are for brake cutouts, with a more abrupt 'off then on' transition.

    • @Revbikes
      @Revbikes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Back when we filmed these videos, BAFANG didn't make the motors with a plug down there for the gear sensor, which was designed by another company actually.

    I run a 30 tooth front chain rang on my MTB so 42 tooth is going to make gearing really high? I run a 1 x 10 40-11 rear cassette BTW. Also square taper cranks have a reputation for wearing hence most premium makes dropped them years ago. Also are the crank bearings replaceable as I ride off road more than on road and they will need to be replaced eventually?

    • @Revbikes
      @Revbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good questions Mark. Gearing will be higher yes, as the motor levels out the hills, so you'll have less need for lowest gears. You could choose a 36T ring if you want.
      Usually you won't wear the cranks out nearly as fast with a motor 😊

    Hello, I wanted to ask you for help. I bought the BAFANG BBS01B 36V 250W kit with Hailong 17.4Ah battery, to mount it on a SPECIALIZED STUMPJUMPER COMP HT 29 "from 2012. The problem is the size of the bottom bracket, the cylinder of the MTB is of length 73.5 mm and the internal diameter is 45.5 mm smooth, without thread. While the BAFANG one is 65 mm + 17 mm threaded, the diameter is 33.5 mm. Can you advise me how to solve without proceeding with a structural modification of the MTB. Sorry in advance for my terrible english.

    The brake sensors are really not needed, I was going to glue them on like in your other video but have ridden over 2000 miles in hilly areas without and the bike is fine. If you feel like you need to stop the motor a quick back peddle stops it instantly.

    • @Revbikes
      @Revbikes  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True enough, so long as you have the gear sensor on. The main time when you don't want the pedelec to kick in is when you are coming to a stop and changing down through gears.. Shift Sensor stops that anyway 😊
