The only difference are that Hitler and his cronies dumbed down people by brainwashing with illusions of grandeur and isolating them from each other, while the people in this video are like this bcoz of the failing education system and that they have no curiosity, they have the power of the world in their hand but they are using it to watch kitten videos on TH-cam and dance videos on Tiktok!

Test scores matter more on the latge scale than your kid lil Timmy Cloudd understanding order of operations enough to apply it.
Add in the kids who don’t know how to act, kids on phones and the unavailable, uninterested parents and there’s only so much a teacher can do in the short amount of time they have.

My step-son brought a girl home one day and on our wall we have a picture of the Pyramids from a recent trip. Now this girl was a college grad in accounting she asked what that was a picture of and we told her. She then asked where was that at. At first I thought she was pulling my chain but after awhile I realized she wasn't, she had no clue whatsoever and had never heard of the Pyramids. I told my step-son to run away from her quickly.

This is shameful. America does not prioritize education. These basic concepts are in every state's curriculum and teachers DO teach these things, repeatedly, in different ways. As a teacher, I appreciate the parents who value their children's education. Their parents instill respecting others, accountability, the value of hard work, and perseverance. These are skills they can use throughout life. We need more parents like that. If teachers, parents, and the community worked together more often, we could do better as a society.

My 17 y/o daughter loves reading and is looking into writing books. She’s been talking to me daily about all these great book ideas she has. Recently she said she’s really enjoying reading books written by authors before the 90’s, because according to her, “The dialogues are so much more in depth and the authors use words that are extremely descriptive.”
I told her that’s because those authors were alive and writing before the age of the internet and texting. Look at how we respond to people in our texts and on social media…misspelled words, shorthand words, letters instead of typing out the full words…even auto correct is a problem. The smarter our devices get, the dumber we get.
I actually turned off spellcheck years ago because I was realizing that when I would use pen and paper, sometimes my brain would completely freeze trying to remember how to spell words I’ve known for years. People forgot how to proofread, because for the most part, their devices do it for them.
I went back to college after getting medically retired out of my job. I was 38 at the time. It was hard to watch the 18 y/o’s fresh from high school not know how to write reports and papers. Rather than embarrassing them though, myself and a few other adults offered to help anyone who wanted it.

I said it in another thread, I'll say it here. Actual books, paper and pen are where it's at. Only one way to train your brain. If you're relying on devices to remind you, or use it as an easy shortcut to solve problems, and even playing games on a device rather than board and paper; you're sacrificing conscious effort, which is needed to build those brain muscles. Cognitive ability doesn't mature if you don't actually work things out for yourself. Convenience is the death of thoughtfulness.

You don't learn anything that useful I'd say after middle school. Hell, my high school class that taught you how to do taxes, application forms, held mock interviews, (basically all the stuff you should know before step out into the real world), all worthless. The real life thing was nothing like what you learned.
