My sister arranged quite a surprise on my wedding day and ringed to Mitja. :) I have no idea how she made that happen but it was astonishing as I am a hardcore-Moonsorrow-fan. My wedding was in February 2015 and Moonsorrow played in my hometown a short while after and, of course, I and my wife were present. Needless to say, it was an awesome gig.
When I went to see them in fall 2011, I started to get a bad headache on my way to the show. Their music calmed the pain, it was great. So just to say, I believe you! Cheers from France! 🍻
@@alannamcneill5679 Not surprising taking OP's and my own experience when it comes to it. It's really crazy and might even seem irrational when you think about it. I've been hearing about music's healing properties and other things for a while, and to someone who don't believe in things that can't really be proven using science and maths it's seems impossible. But between the testimonies from other people and my own experiences, it gets hard to fall on one side or the other. Anyways, it's weird what music brings to people. I like every genre of music in a way or another, but Moonsorrow is the one band that brings me chills consistently when I listen to it. Especially when I go through a full record of them after waking up.
Leave it to Moonsorrow to still sound fucking perfect through the horrible sound quality bloodstock has. They absolutely nailed Huuto and Mitja was really enjoying himself. Pleasure to watch.
I have to say for me its a trio we can call it. Windir from Norway, Thyrfing from Sweden and Moonsorrow from Finland. All three is fucking epic bands, sadly almost noone is interested in starting a band with this influences. it's almost only Thrash, Heavy and Death that's popular when creating a Metal band..
Epic metal is my favorite genre. You could add Forefather from England, Falkenbach from Germany, Primordial from Ireland... I like thrash, death and heavy but in addition of power and violence, epic metal brings atmospheres that I don't necessarily find in the basic metal genres.
About starting a band with these influences, you can add "Dent" or "Thall" to the list even though they're not really genres. That said I agree, kinda sucks that genre isn't more popular but it's somewhat cool at the same time. I played in a band influenced by bands like Ensiferum, Wintersun, and other bands like that. And later, even though we already listened to Moonsorrow we started to add more of their influence to the writing. It was great. Then members became too busy with other things to keep the band going, which sucks a lot. That was my favorite band I was a part of. That said I still have a few rehearsal recordings I can go back and jam to. Cheers from France! 🍻
GREAT SET BY MOONSORROW THEY ARE THE KINGS OF FINLAND AT THERE STYLE OF MUSIC, THERE ALBUMS ARE ALL GREAT TOO SORRY FINTROL YOU GUY'S ARE GOOD TOO BUT ALWAY';S LOVED MOONSORROW. SINCE '2001'.
I suspect that not many of us have noticed that how nicely Mr. Tarvonen also sings background vocals even though he has a work to do with his drums. Also I wonder if Mitja's shirt with that same symbol is the same every year after another. Having seen Moonsorrow live in 2008 (they played Tulimyrsky thoroughly which I still salute!). Well, pointless babbling...
didn't even notice this had been uploaded. Was there, very hungover from the night before and felt like I could throw up at any point. But its Moonsorrow, I wasn't going anywhere! I stuck it out and actualyl fet better after haaha
I like both, very much, but I have to say, AA is death metal with viking lyrics, not viking metal :) Edit: right, nearly forgot. Moonsorrow isn't viking metal either. It's supposed to be epic heathen metal, as they themselves described it, though personally I'd say it's similar to pagan metal (folk and black mix). ;)
The band is amazing, just little bit better image, but the sound was sh**t, havn't heard such distortion since late 70-s, no balance at all. Its disappointed as the band plays technically perfectly.
lead singer should do some situps-too flabby - all the blood you can't see what they look like - still I really like them and their music is really cool and this is a good performance-the strong bass makes the music sound awesome
SET LIST:
1:12 - Ukkosenjumalan Poika
7:13 - Huuto
21:12 - Sankarihauta
29:26 - Kivenkantaja
37:00 - Sankaritarina
Thought it'd help you guys out :D
🤘
Absolutely my friend ... Thanks a lot |||
The guitarist on the left is INSANE.

the only band i know that will play 15 minute songs live. goooddddd damn i want to see them again.
also, why are the fucking keyboards louder than anything else in this recording??
ALSO, kivenkantaja is the sickest song ever.
*****
Yes it is ;-)
Yeah they're pretty much perfect
This sick band Wintersun does long songs like this too, check them out they're awesome.
Huuto is just mindblowingly incredible. It soothed my backache, I swear
When I went to see them in fall 2011, I started to get a bad headache on my way to the show.

The way music works is amazing. I find running marathons with power or black metal makes them easier to finish without feeling as tired.

I mean, what's the worst the can happen? I die?
No, the worst that can happen is missing Moonsorrow.
MOONSORROW FOREVER, FAN FROM BRAZIL
Ohhh Finland...the promise land of good music
Why are you so fucking awesome?
The drums are just W O W
Love the way the drummer plays in studio and how sometimes he'll change some stuff for live shows and make it more special.
Cheers from France! 🍻

I remember just after they came onstage thinking 'I'm really thirsty. Fuck it watching Moonsorrow is far more important than hydration.'
¡¡¡Son lo mejor moonsorrow!!! Gracias por la subida
HUUUUUUUTO!
HUUUUTO !
HAIL MOONSORROW !!!
Great support from Italy
27:20 All of a sudden, as Sankarihauta reaches its peak, the stage bouncer *gets it*
One of the few vocalists with better live scream/growl than studio.
+Joshua Xxx Yeah man, Ville is a beast. Freaking love this band. Cheers! ^^
agreed on that
Agree, except when they do 'Jotunheim'.
mitja
One of my first metal band.
Can't believe this was nearly half a decade ago! Right down the front, was in a right euphoric state when they played huuto

Have you heard about havukruunu?
They're insane
Some kind of black/heavy/pagan/epic metal from Finland

kudos for the In Slaughter Natives intro
Bandazaaaaa!!! 😎
42:00 - amazing.
The Ensiferum - From Afar 2010 vid has pretty decent sound.
put that crazy ass wedding drummer with the guitarist on the left.. oh shit....
He doesn't tour with them (been like that for years). I think he might still play some shows in Finland, but tours he doesn't go on.
amon amarth? bitch please, moonsorrow is a lot better viking metal band
I like both, very much, but I have to say, AA is death metal with viking lyrics, not viking metal :)
Edit: right, nearly forgot. Moonsorrow isn't viking metal either. It's supposed to be epic heathen metal, as they themselves described it, though personally I'd say it's similar to pagan metal (folk and black mix). ;)
Björn Mätal Exactly. I freaking love this folk-black mix.
CaptainTaelos
Yep, me too. They are indeed epic!
Amon Amarth band members look like vikings but they play death metal. They said this.
Ok, it's Zildjian Z-custom China! Figured it out :D! But what size, 18'' or 20''... hmmm trying to figure that still out :D
Que cosa tan bonita
Someone knows why Henri Sorvali doesn't play live?
+D00mwisd "Personal reasons", as far as I heard. He doesn't play live in Finntroll either anymore.
+Kasey Nolan Ok thanks . It's sad because he is the main composer of Moonsorrow :(
Welcome Brazil
Yeah he has said that he rather stays with his family
Sound quality is terrible, but wow Huuto live! So impressive.
Jibbering wreck when I met them =/
yep, so much bass.
Subliminal message on 16:52 X)
holy shit! is that opening song Uk po??
06:47 to the right in slow motion he looks like rasta X)
Please, can someone say (or does anyone know) what zildjian china is Marko (the drummer) using?
Where is the other Sorvali?
Una pena que la grabación de sonido no sea muy buena :(
SANKARITARINAAAAA!
War
Doesnt look right without Henri on stage :/
the sound is really good, what the fuck is the problem of you guys!
set-list plz
***** ty!

Exactly my thoughts
What's wrong with husky band members..... I have the exact same stomach and I play shirtless.....
in what tuning is this band?
E standard, and with some Pagan wizardry they're heavy af.
Cheers from France! 🍻
eu gostava mais do gordinho na guitarra
Where are the guitarsssssssss :(
аккорды не совпадают.
Who the fuck mixed this shit?
THIS IS VERY BORING, 10 MINUTES AND I AM FALLING ASLEEP.
iwantoutnow how do you not like this kind of music? Maybe in the last five years you’ve changed your mind?
lead singer should do some situps-too flabby - all the blood you can't see what they look like - still I really like them and their music is really cool and this is a good performance-the strong bass makes the music sound awesome
the sound is so garbage lol
Gosto muito do som do Moonsorrow mas eles no palco é muito amadorismo
discordo.
I do not know why, but the most boring music of this show, in my opinion, was that huuto.
Same here, only it was in the queue to meet them for me. I stuck it out and got my jacket signed but almost passed out afterwards hahaha!
