      @@JojoandScott oh my God oh my god, I didn't mean to insinuate that your wife is surprisingly beautiful. I don't type, I talk into my phone "talk text" and I have a bad habit of not checking things before I post. Your wife is beautiful and her voice is calming and your van, your home on Wheels is extraordinary.. please understand I meant no disrespect.Again safe travels💕

    Van looks great and custom built to your needs,I bet you've got a few more inprovements in mind when you get back home to Scotland,I think we all have little things that need to be changed after a long trip.Greatly enjoying you videos of your journey,still from my armchair sadly,but hoping being well enough to travel myself this year.Safe travels Paulo

      We do have some little tweaks in mind but the main design has really worked for us.
      So glad you’re enjoying the videos and we hope you get well soon and able to get off on the road. There’s nothing quite like getting to visit new places 😊

    You've obviously put a lot of thought into this build and have made great use of the space.
    I had wondered about the rationale behind your windowless design. I thought perhaps it was because, like me, you're Scottish, inherently allergic to sunshine and need that dark bolt hole for the middle of the day! 😉

    • @JojoandScott
      @JojoandScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha maybe that’s another good reason for it.
      When we’re in nice places, the siding door is open most of the time. It works great to let in light and fresh air. We definitely feel very safe with it locked up at night and if we have to leave it anywhere.
      Thanks for the kind comment, we really did lie awake at night puzzling out how to do every little thing! ☺️

    Hey Jojo and Scott, you dont have any "camper windows", does that mean your vehicle is not registered as a camper/conversion?

    • @JojoandScott
      @JojoandScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      One of our main goals with the van was to make sure it was secure, and stealth is part of that. Sure, the big yellow thing is obvious, but adding windows makes it obviously a camper. To the untrained eye, it’s just a trade van. The DVLA also require decals on the van to allow it to be registered as a camper.
      Also, windows are another point of entry for thieves.
      So, no, it’s not registered as a camper. We have found it works really well for strath camping in busy cities and the added benefit of no windows is that it doesn’t heat up like an oven in summer!

    27.05 And then put the handbrake on again?

    • @JojoandScott
      @JojoandScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We put the van into first gear before letting the handbrake off. We probably should have said that part too.
      Don’t worry, we don’t just let the thing roll away 😂

    I don't think your supposed to put any human waist in a gray tank I think it just becomes a black tank that your not putting chemicals in.

    • @JojoandScott
      @JojoandScott  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very complex topic and one we looked into a lot as we designed the van. The dictionary definition of “sewage” is literally waste water that is carried away in sewers. This means both grey water and black water are technically sewage.
      A grey tank is supposed to be just waste water from the sink/shower so the dumping laws vary and some places deem it fine to treat as ‘soak away’ so it can be emptied on the ground.
      The only information we could find on the legalities of adding urine to a grey tank is that it needs to be diluted 1:5 with water and then it can be treated as grey waste.
      Bearing this in mind, we try to add plenty of water to our grey and and use water to flush down the urinal whenever we use it. As we don’t know exactly what our dilution ratio is we take great care to only use specific dump stations to empty our grey tank. We especially look out for ones that the grey and black get emptied in the same place as then there’s no uncertainty about where the waste is going.
      In France and Italy especially every second truck stop on the main highways have very good dump stations so it’s very easy in these countries and otherwise we use the appropriate facilities at campsites. We even have a collapsible bucket (shown in the video) that we can use to decant the waste water and carry it to a sewage dump when we can’t park close enough. This works well when the only option is a nearby toilet (there were lots of squatting toilets in Turkey perfect for this!).
      We regularly clean the tank by rinsing it with strong bleach and fresh water and empty this into dump station facilities to try and keep it as hygienic as possible.

      @@JojoandScott ok as long as you know what your doing that's all that matters and I wasn't completely positive about it.
