I completely agree. Dallas was the better *team.* The defense Kidd, Marion, and Chandler played throughout that playoff run is often forgotten, but Kidd and Marion particularly played some of the best perimeter defense I've ever seen against some of the best opponents. Kidd is a freaking *LEGEND* for playing the role he did at 38 years old! 40 Steals and 10 Blocks, from an old guy whose lost a couple steps and can barely get off the ground when he jumps!
Dear NBA! Please consider putting up whole consensus great games from the past (no matter what decade cause I had no access to watch games in my country) this is the diamond year and I think I'm not alone with very little knowledge of the 75... But sometimes a game is special for something else... and fellows all over the world who love the game! Please support the idea or something like that... Maybe we'll get some games in the off season!
This is the difference between Dirk and Princess James. When the going gets tough, he sticks around, gets better, and leads his team to victory over insurmountable odds, rather than running away like a coward to form a super team whenever he loses.

The funny thing is that everyone says Nowitski did it alone. But then JJ Barea defeated Lebron. Or no one saw Jason Kid nor Jason Terry nor Marion. It's crazy
Honestly, true fans do not say this. We know Nowitzki had great support! He definitely did not do it on his own. Now, take Dirk out of the equation and they do not win the title. But that's true of ANY team that wins the title. Pick your best player and take him off the court, you don't win.
The defense was stout! Kidd, Marion, and Chandler is quite the defensive trio! Also what Kidd brings to the offense as the PG can't be understated, his fingerprints were all over that team. But Dirk of course was far and away their MVP. The team was also very deep.
The Mavs might not have had the star power but they had a nearly perfectly constructed roster where everybody knew their role. Chandler was an elite rim protector, Dirk an all time great power forward, Marion a Swiss Army knife who could clamp down your best player, Terry a shot maker who could also drive to the rim, J Kidd a high IQ facilitator. A beautifully complementary team.
Not only was this a great moment in Mavs' history, it also was in Dallas sports history. Up until this point, Dallas sports teams had gone a combined 0-7 in postseason games played in Miami.

Dirk is one of the greatest no doubt. To say that he did a carry job is unacceptable and moronic. Mavs team had a group of playoff hardened veterans who fought as hard as they could on what was probably their last good year.
peja, marion, terry and kidd were all on a mission that year
I completely agree.
You know nothing
@@DroManJoYou clearly don’t if you disagree with what he said
This Mavs team was the KING of 4th qtr comebacks. Very exciting team.
This is the time im rooting for dallas. And they got a championship.. what a moment..beating the strongest big 3 assembled that year
DIRK honored my love for basketball.
Dirk Dirk Dirk
In an interview LeBron said it still hurts thinking about this game... It's THAT kind of an ass kicking.
5:30 Wade looking at the refs wondering where's the foul
Refs: "This ain't '06 homie. We don't rig games for you anymore"
The greatest nba championship run, by far.
As a suns fan I was happy to see Marion win a chip. He was always a great energy player and good defender
No Power forward in the history of the NBA won a championship the way Dirk did this playoff run. Just unbelievable
Tim Duncan won 5 what do you mean? Lol
Dirk the only 7 footer with a 3pt shot *before* Durant
This game really saved Nowitzki’s legacy. There’s no way the mavericks would have won the series had they lost this game, would have been down 2-0
He saved his legacy by himself in the last 60 seconds
I remember watching this like it was yesterday.
Still one of the greatest finals run in the history of the league. Dirk is a legend.
Nowitzki and duncan are the greatest forwards/centers i ever watched till this day.
This was the match where I discovered my third best player of all time after MJ and Kobe - Dirk Nowitzki.
Factsssss
you mean your third favorite player
Never gets old. Always remember watching this moment like yesterday lol
Lebron chocking and taking an L in the finals is such a classic! love to see it
you must be a big LeBron hater like Skip Bayless because no one likes to lose put yourself in his shoes?
@@nathanielterry5315 listen carefully: F lebron and everything he stands for, do you understand?
@@nathanielterry5315 Weak.
Dirk Nowitski y Jose Juan Barea y Jason Kidd , los grandes de ese campeonato 2011🎉🎉🎉
This is the difference between Dirk and Princess James. When the going gets tough, he sticks around, gets better, and leads his team to victory over insurmountable odds, rather than running away like a coward to form a super team whenever he loses.
You need to move on my guy 😂 I'm not a fan of Lebron either but he's living in your head rent free.
and that’s why dirk only got 1 ring to lebrons 4. never understood why lebron gets hate for leaving cleveland as no one wants to go to cleveland to play. he wasn’t gonna win a ring there. rent free
Pick your best player and take him off the court, you don't win.
jj barea defeated lebron? what?
@@williamchromebookpeterson take dirk they are a 10 seed team at best. Half of the team wasn't averaging above 10 pts and dirk had to play all 4 qtrs.
The defense was stout! Kidd, Marion, and Chandler is quite the defensive trio! Also what Kidd brings to the offense as the PG can't be understated, his fingerprints were all over that team. But Dirk of course was far and away their MVP. The team was also very deep.
Dirk is a top 10 all time for this run.
Dirk was absolutely unbelievable
Dirk was going off man
Watching Dirk puts a smile on my face
LOVE YOU DIRK
The Mavs might not have had the star power but they had a nearly perfectly constructed roster where everybody knew their role. Chandler was an elite rim protector, Dirk an all time great power forward, Marion a Swiss Army knife who could clamp down your best player, Terry a shot maker who could also drive to the rim, J Kidd a high IQ facilitator. A beautifully complementary team.
Not only was this a great moment in Mavs' history, it also was in Dallas sports history. Up until this point, Dallas sports teams had gone a combined 0-7 in postseason games played in Miami.
Such an exciting season for my Mavs. Loved this collection of guys.
GOAT default play, drain 16sec, 4secs some dribbles and release a brick contested no brain no play shot. Thrice for last crucial minutes. Proud to witness this goat
Coach and fans literaly slept . An elite coach wouldnt let this happen.
When good defeats evil
One of the most satisfying runs in sports history.
Lechoke legendary performance
Best playoff run of the last 20 years.
That Superteam couldn't stopped the old dirk ..😂
I miss Dirk Nowitzki! 🏀 ❤
That Heat player that hit the last three was clutch 💯
Mario chalmers is underrated
This series was such a huge impact on super teams in the years to come that they’re beatable.
One of the most legendary playoff runs & road to a championship
I miss these games
The worst superstar meltdown in sports history by LeBalco James!!!!
I remember watching that left handed lay up live that was the definition of clutch to me then and still is now. However its crucial also to point out that Dirk made 45 out of 46 free throws in this series you can look that stat up.
Ι miss this kind of basketball so much
One of the years when everyone was rooting for the same team in the finals
This Dallas team was so deep!
Facts. Can't be overlooked. That's why they won imo, they relied on the whole team.
Superstar in Dirk at the height of his power and a group of stars in their roles that took turns playing star level above their roles in different games. Amazing team run.
Come back and like this comment when mavericks win the 2024 nba finals
Mavs in 5 or 4
