Josh Brolin's character wasn't asking "weird" questions. He was asking about close personal ties given the danger of the work for her - as well as the possibility that the cartels could retaliate against her family.

That interrogation scene is meant to be ambiguous and left to the imagination based on the vocal sounds. However if all you hear are rhythmic grunting noises and no sounds of water being poured on anything then I think the general consensus is that Alejandro is raping him. The reason for cutting away to the floor is that it’s more effective to leave it up to our imagination rather than go the Tarantino route lol.

Yeah the water jug is carried in front of the camera and then the camera is turned off. Pretty sure waterboarding is still an approved interrogation technique while whatever he actually did probably wasn't

No Alejandro was not raping Guilliermo Diaz. If you notice throughout the movie he often invades personal space to people he intimidates. Classic way to assert dominance during interrogation, that's why they shut the camera off in that situation because everything was still fine by then.
My money is on: Beating the sh*t out of Guilliermo - especially targeting certain spots like teeth, throat and tongue. Waterboarding is going to SUCK no matter what, but if there's extra pain in mouth and throat PLUS a lot of blood.... My guess is waterboarding will suck EVEN MORE..
I mean they didn't even need his info, they had already gotten what they needed so this was just a bonus for Alejandro... So I'm guessing he killed him by the end as well 🤷‍♂
