Probably the only time in cinema history where flip flops are a power move. Like, if you weren't taking him seriously before you certainly are now.
1:02:27 him saying "it wasn't personal" did not help his situation.
There was no help for his situation. You can argue that bringing up the dead wife was poor salesmanship, but Alejandro wasn’t buying anything anyway.
@@MarcosElMalo2 yeah, his fate was sealed.
28:01 "so cigarettes is better." -jyn
that was funny 😆
😂😂
The director of this movie Dennis Villanueve has never made a bad movie: Sicario, Arrival and Prisoners are just a few of his best film
Dune and Dune 2 as well
@@cwell510 Don't forget Blade Runner 2049
incendies too.
@@Arafurllatiz that one messed with my head
The suspense in this film hardly lets up. Everything from the music, the cinematography, the dialogue, the secrets; all of it adds to the nonstop tension throughout the film. Some of the shots were just beautiful.
13:20, Kate is good. But these guys are on a whole other level beyond wha she is used to.
I love the scene where the Delta operators walk down into the pitch darkness from the twilight...moving from the gray world of miltary Special Operations into the blackness of the CIA SAD.
10:27 you'd think it was personal. but it's just business for some.
He killed his family in front of him so that would be his last thought he would ever have.
"He's an empty vessel". Good insight.
👍🏾
5:34 "you have to dramatically overreact." -ryl
welcome to the world of TH-cam reactions. present company definitely excluded. 😇
Love your videos, they’re always done very well. You pick great reactors to put together.
Haha 🤣👍🏾
@@justinpitcock5312 thanks justin!
The flip flop guy is Josh Brolin please watch No Country for Old Men 2007 with Josh Brolin it is so intense😀
41:57 "he's on a mission. it's revenge!" -ryl
damn this movie is great.
6:40, Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas are right next to one another. So the team wasn't going to far away. It's just a quick trip across the US/Mexico border.
If you liked the cinematography and the sense of space Sicario has, then you might enjoy the film, Badlands. I'm always reminded of it when i see Sicario. Ive sometimes wondered if the director or DP of Sicario was a fan of Badlands.
The sequel is worth a look, its a different director, and a bit more of a typical action movie. One interesting thing about it is it doesnt have Kate returning. She acts as a sort of moral centre in the first film, but is missing from the second...
There's talk of a third movie, with the original director returning, which could be pretty cool.
46:50 "anyone would say that. because they're innocent. they're innocent kids." -ryl
in my experience, 95% of the comment section will not say that.
Yeah but they're explanation at the very end was dead on point!
@@never_pharma1412 those kids would have been brought uip to be killers also
Something I hadn't noticed until just now listening to your commentary, just before her partner takes her to that bar, he tells her they don't have her six, and then someone he knows attempts to press her for information, and it took them having her six for her to survive.
1:05:34 i thought this was one of the best films of the 2000s. a tense thriller from start to finish.
very good film put your self in his shoes , would i have done the same, without a blink of an eye.
kids will not be innocent as they take over the father business and brothers including sisters.
46:00 "it wasn't personal?!" -jyn
for some people its business. for Alejandro it's very personal.
51:01 "he shot you, you know? that was the warning." -jyn
😆
I just watched this about a month ago myself and it absolutely blew me away. One of the best movies I've watched in the last few years
This is one of my favorite films. Probably top 5. The story is very well rounded, the pacing is great (even though it takes its time in several scenes it still feels fast and engaging, no scenes feel unnecessary), there is an arc and a twist, there are several interesting and poignant themes, it manages to create tension and anticipation very effectively even in the slower scenes, the action and the violence feel realistic, it has gorgeous shots, the direction is great (Villeneuve is one of my favorite directors), the writing is great, the sound creates an immersive atmosphere, the acting is great...
The guy was prosecutor, he was innocent, fought criminals and then he became a monster. It is very scary.
I hope they can explore that story. I want the prequel where we get the case then attack and how he got in with the medalin cartel.
If Fausto's sons were spared, they would inevitably demand vengeance for the deaths of their parents. They would walk in their father's footsteps without hesitation. Leave one wolf alive, and the sheep will never be safe. Plus given what happened to Alejandro's daughter, they didn't suffer greatly or as much as they should have.
◘◘ "Sicario" is a Spanish word that translates to "hitman" or "hired killer" in English. ◘◘
In many reports about the drug cartels and their brutality, one can see such disturbing images of people being executed hanging from bridges to intimidate any potential enemy (police, judicial authorities, other cartels). 😳
The police and military in Mexico are always heavily armed because otherwise they have no chance against the extremely brutal drug cartels.
"Sicario" is sophisticated, radical - simply thrilling! 🤩
Benicio kills this role
Um he's killed every single cartel role he's been in especially in his Oscar award winning role in "Traffic" as a Federale agent , in "Savages" as a cartel hitman , as Pablo Escobar the cartel boss in "Paradise Lost" & even as a cartel henchman in James Bond 007 : License To Kill which was his very first role!!! But his best two films are definitely "Way Of The Gun" as a bank robber/kidnapper & also in his Oscar worthy performance in "Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas" as Johnny Depp's Attorney/drug addict who's a hilarious Samoan psychopath!!!! The guy never misses in any of his films!!! As a latin actor he's even far above Javier Bardom in my opinion!!!!
I know a little bit about Mexico. There’s like 50 different types of police. That might be a slight exaggeration. The important ones to know for understanding this story is that there are Federal Police, State Police, and Municipal Police. The Federales tend to be less corrupt than the State Police. When they were driving back to the border it was the state police that was tracking them from a parallel street.
The Mexican equivalent of “make them and offer they can’t refuse” is “Plomo o Plata”. That means lead or silver. You are offered a choice of death or some money. Lead bullets or silver.
About normalized violence, I don’t think it’s normal for ordinary Mexican people. But it happens (it happens mostly in certain parts of the country, but it can happen almost anywhere), and what can an ordinary person do? Life goes on. If you’re not under immediate threat, you try to live your life.
I’m from Los Angeles, California, and I’ve heard gunfire all my life, so I know more or less when it’s close by and when it’s far off. The people at the fútbol match heard the gunfire but it wasn’t close, so after the pause they continued the match. The people in their cars waiting to cross the border who could see what was going on were scared out of their wits no doubt, but what are they going to do? They just want to get to the border checkpoint. (Or they could abandon their cars and walk back to Mexico?) So they’re not going to do anything, and they’re not going to say anything about what they saw unless they’re forced to. They don’t want trouble, they just want to get on with their lives.
With regard to Silvio, he made his choice when he joined the police. If he didn’t become a police officer he wouldn’t be of any use to the cartels, and they’d leave him alone. He wouldn’t receive the plomo o plata proposition. Ted, the cop in Tucson, probably had a choice if he was a clean cop. If he was dirty, he probably wouldn’t be in a position to refuse. In other words, he also made his choice before he was ever approached by the cartel.
In case it’s not obvious, the cartel violence happens mostly along the border and mostly in those towns where there is a border crossing. The majority of drugs are smuggled through border checkpoints. There’s also violence at certain points in the trafficking routes. Acapulco is apparently one of those dangerous points.
What about the rest of Mexico? It’s not as dangerous in the majority places. There’s crime in the big cities and crimes in the countryside, just like in the U.S. There’s corrupt cops willing to let you pay a bribe instead of getting a speeding ticket, which is different. There are criminals that prey on tourists, which you will see at almost any tourist destination. To be honest, I feel safer where I live in Mexico than I did living in L.A.
Lead or silver came from Columbia. Escobar started that
No Country For Old Men (2007) please and thank you. 🙂
Excellent reaction! You picked up the plot beats and correctly were predicting what was possibly going on. Much better than a lot other reactors I've seen. I'll check out more of your channel. Keep it up.
We appreciate you ❤️
American football could more reasonably be called handegg.
0:34 we have been warned. ⚠️🙂

😆
This is the land of wolves 🤘
46:16 the little smile that comes across jyn's face... 😏
And you wonder why we come work at McDonald's 😢
The second movie is really good as well. It focuses more on Benicio Del Toro's character as they go after another cartel.
38:49 "wait, what do you mean _that's_ the reason?" -ryl
ryl's look at jyn 😆
The torture scene was so well done!, just how vague it is. You think it’s going to be some form of water torture, but then you see the 5 gallon jug sitting there and nothing is going down the drain and from there it can just make your mind wonder, what’s really going on. Brilliant!!
The crotch in the face was forcing him to look up into his eyes….the sounds heard later are him flipping his chair down and trying to stuff a rag down his throat so they can begin the water boarding process…. It makes me feel better about humanity sometimes that people don’t understand that 🤷♂️
@@brandonmartin08 is that what Dennis said?
My comment comes from yes me personally wondering which kind of torture was going to be used but it was reinforced when I watched the first few reactions to this movie and seeing in the comment sections people say it was a variety of different water torture methods or some form of sexual assault and it showed me that people are all over the map when it comes to what happened in that scene. The one thing people agree on is that he was being tortured after that peoples minds definitely wondered.
@@brandonmartin08 The crotch in the face was a dominance play. It doesn’t matter if the guy being tortured or interrogated looks up (or looks over at the gringo). I think you’re right about the water boarding. We just weren’t “privileged” to see the whole scene. We’re in the position of the colleague that turns off the camera and leaves, mostly because it’s not that type of movie (thankfully).
Benicio Del Toro excels in everything he plays in, the man has zero negative reviews!
I'd recommend "A Perfect Day", also starring Tim Robbins, another one of the greats of our time.
Love that you watched this one!!, please do the second one, I think you’ll love it.
She agreed to be part of the team. They flew to El Paso, just as she was told. She didn't have to go with them to Juarez. She's got nothing to complain about, but she will, because she is F.B.I.. Complain and cover things up are what they do best. She didn't have to go in the tunnels, either. She ended up in Mexico because she refused to follow instructions. The only US law broken by any of them was when they re-entered the US not through a port of entry.
30:10 The gun is the best force equalizer for women. Your earlier talk about hand to hand, yes, it is scary how well a typical man does against a trained women, the natural strength and general amateur fighting men go through in childhood, will blaze through a 60 kg women easy.
Again, the gun is the force equalizer.
12:55…uh why did he shoot? Might of been the two car fulls of cartel members trying to ambush them…he gave them the option to put their guns down, but they were hopped up on drugs most likely and were 100% determined to kill….so they had to go
Only discovered you two a few weeks ago, and loving going back through your videos.
You're always asking the good questions and being smart/insightful/empathetic/funny. Generally just good vibes.
Hope you get to check out some others of Villeneuve's movies, they're all so good: Arrival, Prisoners, BR2049, Dune...
[virtual hug]
The kids were def innocent. What he did by killing the kingpin’s family first was to let him feel empty right before he died. There was nobody that would carry on his bloodline.
Watch Sicario 2 , it's even better than this one is!!!! It has way more going on & way more action & a perfect ending!!!!
When Alejandro's family was killed, he was a prosecutor; one of the good guys.
That border shootout is not long but damn is it intense. Also for a rookie FBI agent Emily Blunt's character popping up after being shot at then getting a killing headshot after just getting up is really impressive
free state of jones its true story
Another very smart review with sharp commentary from both of you. The description of Alejandro as an 'empty vessel' is just perfect. But his advice to Kate to move is still caring, he knows she isn't cut out for the moral choices her work in that area requires. I also just noticed you guys have matching nose rings, very cute! I was curious...do many people in Jamaica speak/understand Spanish?
Good movie girls 👍 !🍿
You managed to talk for an hour straight over the film. I can’t imagine how much of it you missed.
You got a Warning in the Beginning about the Talking. Still you watched the Reaction and STILL you complain afterwarts in the Comments.
Annoying Move.
@@Jargolf86Notation of a factually observed event is not “complaining”, and “afterwarts”, isn’t a word. If _you’re_ going to whine to me about my comments at least be marginally literate.
Oh man, I love Benicio del Toro so much, he is such an awesome actor.
I hope you girls will watch the second part of this. And you should also watch two crazy Guy Ritchie movies, if you haven't already: _Snatch_ and _Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels._ Both those movies are outrageous, you'll probably love them.
After that, you must see Savages (2012), with Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Salma Hayek.
11:57 "but, this is a different type of anxiety." -ryl
next level anxiety.
🤣🤣
This movie was amazing and so glad I saw it when it came out. That ending was amazing.
This is a great movie. Try No Country for Old Men with Brolin and Tommy Lee Jones......that movie is disturbing lol.
Fantastic reaction Ryl&Jyn!
Ya sure moved from sex-is-better-than-cigs to cigs-are-better-than-sex... Had me laughing&thinking along with you.
Thanx
Glad you enjoyed it 😆👍🏾
I’m glad y’all watched this one
Kate is the bad guy in this movie. Please do wind river, it’s connected to this movie and written by the same guy. Tyler Sheridan. It’s really a trilogy, hell or high water is the third. Wind river is a beautiful movie. If you want you could consider it a marvel movie where Wanda and Hawkeye team up with the wolves of twilight to battle globalwarming. If you watch it you’ll see what I’m talking about.
the CIA wants to take control of the drugtrade, not stopping it. they don't care about justice. they use the FBI to clear them from
all the dirty things they did. Kate was seeking for justice what happened to her team, being kept in the dark not understanding what she got into.
if what happened in the tunnels ever gets brought out in front of a Supreme Court, all people involved are gonna throw Kate under the bus.
including her boss, he suddenly doesn't remember himself saying that the boundaries were moved. as if the FBI have the authority
to move boundaries on there own. Kate could've walked away after Juarez, Kate should've walked away after she was strangled.
naive, yes. annoying, f yeah. bad guy, no.
Love you guys reaction has always 👍💖🙏😇💝and the funniest couples ever 🎉
Thank you ❤️
Great movie. Its mad brutal with some great cinematography

You ladies are very smart!

Awesome!
you'll be glad you did.
Why would it take you watching a bunch or reactions to subscribe to someone????? You should know after ONE if you should sub or not
@@user-wr9ej6xe4j I’m as puzzled as you’re
Great reaction and choice
51:17: when the truth, personal belief and reality all meet… Kate was confronted with the truth underneath the excepted reality of her life in Law Enforcement… and Alejandro is the representation of that underneath truth, that shakes Kate to her core-- all juxtaposed to the life of the Family of the Cop and so many other’s lives, who know the horror and tragedy of that part of our collective global reality. This was a great movie and great reaction video. Thank you both for the experience! ❤
Nice reaction and fair warning at the beginning of the video. it's not about the talking itself, you actually raised very solid points between you, it's about the timing of the talking while crucial and important scenes are playing. a friendly suggestion, why not keep the main analysis and discussion to after you experienced the whole movie? that way you'll enjoy the experience much better and also many of your questions you raise during the movie would be answered naturely as the story unfolds, just an idea, peace.
if you havent already i recommend you guys should check out sicario : day of the soldado (2018) on this channel :) .
Im an old man, now, ladies but my whole life ive known the phrase "Plomo o Plata." It translates to 'Lead or Silver'. Those are the only choices u get in the Mexican world of organized crime. When u get the offer, u choose Lead (bullet) or u choose Silver (money). U join and make money or they kill u right there
Its not Medal-lin. The double "ll" in Spanish is pronounce with a "y" sound, so its more like "MED-EE-IN"
The $9,000 bank transactions are suspect because, in America, the transition is flagged by the federal government if it's 10,000 or more. The fact that all the payments were for $9,000 is very suspect.
Alejandro Gillick was a tax inspector and prosecutor in Juarez, Mexico, until the brutal murders of his wife and daughter.
I like you girl's
First Tombstone then D'jango. Now Secario! Y'all all over the place 😊watched back to back😊
Juarrez and el.paso are literally right next to each other. El.paso is like the butthole.of texas and juarez is the butthole of el.paso, and I live about 45 min away from el.paso.
I liked this movie. But I didn't like Benicio's character killing the druglord's sons. I know El Sicario's daughter was innocent, too. But that's not justice.
"That's what happens when you cut the head off of a chicken." Is a brilliant simple metaphor for what happens when you remove the head of a crime organization.
Why do they talk over important dialogue in the end of movies every time
"he didn't even flinch" - perhaps at that point it might even be a relief to him, and end to his pain/grief... The end he expects eventually. But yes, she's not a wolf...
Nicely done. That's the best justification for Alejandro's revenge actions that I've heard, and I've seen a lot of reactions to this movie!!!!
Anyway..thinking we're still lucky to live in this era....the past of human history was way more cruel and violent.
If Kate had turned with the gun, clockwise, she could have shot the bad cop. F.B.I. training was a little lacking.
It doesn't matter if the kids are innocent. They are his bloodline. They will eventually come for revenge.
Benicio del toro played that role so well. And y’all are right. Once you reach that point where he is, we kind of welcome that end. Not gonna hit delete ourselves, look for that situation and that person that can do it for us.
love the channel and this line is a unique movie, sheridan =master in a cript and direction too, heymy channel its possible a request brazil?
i m all in in the channel, my request is a christmas line lol= badsanta whit Billy Bob Thornton

Best part about this video was here: @1:07:00, you have to become a monster to go up against monsters. Kate clearly could not.
Holy God..Blue Headband talks Way too much, couldn't take it, had to bail...
The U.S. Government has been at this for a very long time. Look into to Iran Contra Affair.
