- The new Toyota Supra MKV is a great car, but like all cars it's not perfect - there are (4) annoying problems I've found with our new 2023 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium that we're going to easily fix using BIMMERCODE! This video will guide you through the how-to use Bimmercode for the MKV Toyota Supra! 2 annoying issues I hated when I had mine were the absolutely worst sounding clown horn the car has, I was shocked on how bad it sounded, it’s not even a dual horn like every other car out there , it’s a cheesy single sounding high pitch noise, I was embarrassed actually lol . The second was the insanely bad wind buffeting with both windows down, I’m still in awe that Toyota in its fourth model year did not fix this issue. Do they think that owners do not want to drive their cars with the windows open !! You can get aftermarket pieces to stop it though thank the car gods!!! Those are just two things are just huge glaring omissions. The funny part is the Z4 which is made on the same assembly line as the Supra has a normal sounding horn!! What happened Toyota!! Lol . Great video keep ‘em coming .

Agreed on both counts. And it's very involved to change out that horn due to where it's located. There are YT videos on it and it is not a simple horn swap at all. I also purchased the wind deflectors which resolved the wind buffeting/thrumming issue 100%. Can't believe they haven't modified the doors by now. It's THAT bad.
@@timothyhedrick5295 yes it’s so crazy that Toyota didn’t address this 4 years in! They probably think it’s not a big enough problem. At least the car is a fantastic ride

Not that often, it’s more of embarrassment than any thing else, especially for a premium car. Thats all I was trying to say.
Yep, have a 21 3.0 Premium and did all of these within the first six months. That 70% mirror tilt when backing is just absurd. 40% is just fine to see curbs and still be able to see what's actually behind your car. Another nice coding tweak is to allow the car to remain in Sport mode when shut off and manually turn it on/off similar to the Auto Start/Stop feature you forced to manual selection.
I considered it, but I don’t think it’s conducive to me quietly getting out of the garage 🤷♂️. Have you coded the ability to watch movies on the screen?
@@TheLemonFactor No I normally don't start it at home in Sport either (or arrive home in it) but It's nice to start in a parking lot sometimes though. Heads turn. I've had people run over to the car and start asking me about it just because of a poppy start. No interest in watching movies.... I'd die.
I have a 2021 supra and I wan wondering if it’s safe to do this, did your supra throw any codes.
@@ayaanbhamani4274 I had no issues doing any of these and the car accepted them fine. I wouldn't do anything that effects fuel mixture or engine function. I have had an issue with the passenger door not locking to touch about 9/10 times (existed pre-code changes since purchase) and when I took it to the dealer to attempt to fix it they had reset all the codes to factory (which didn't resolve the issue obviously). Fortunately, I had the whole profile saved and just flipped it back.
i never coded a Supra so no idea if i’m correct or not but go into roof function center.. you can change the frequency (i personally like low) and volume
Yeah, I picked up my '21 in early '21 and I love it, great car, very nice to daily drive and take up into the twisties on the weekends here and there. I never noticed the door chime, but I don't park it in a garage either - I like that audible confirmation. The other things though, the mirror tilt, the dim infotainment screen, and the start/stop def. get to me, though. Start-up for me is a 2-step process, 1 click start button, 2 click auto-off. So I rarely forget, but yeah when you do and it dies at a light it's infuriating for a split second.
One thing that does get under my skin is the LACK of audible confirmation when you lock it a 2nd time. Sometimes when I've been fumbling with my keys for a bit to get into the house or whatever I go to the window and hit 'lock' again, just to make sure it's locked. On every other car I own this will give you a beep or a honk or something along with a light flash to let you know the car is locked. Not the supra, nope, no noise, it's quite frustrating, would love if there was an option for that.
All of these things are minor, I've lived with them for 3 years at this point, but $100 to make them all go away isn't bad.
And there’s so many other little feature adjustments you can make to suit your liking 👍

There's no beeping when I open the doors on my Supra, and you can change the position that the mirrors go into reverse on the car itself. Maybe it depends in what country you are in

Have you thought about buying out of state and having it shipped or driving it back - it would probably still be cheaper than paying the markup.

So I never changed any of the settings for the start up animations, I only went into the menu to see what there was. After coding what I wanted to code, the start up animation doesn’t start anymore, you know the Supra animation. Did it originally only turn on or play at certain times?
I haven’t messed with the startup animations, but mine starts with the dash animation as soon as I get into the car, then follows over to the infotainment screen animation - and it seems to always come on.
That's really odd. I'd reset it to defaults and then do your code changes again making sure you're restrictive to what you change. My animation still plays normally and I altered about eight settings total (non pertaining to display or infotainment).

I'm not entirely sure what you're referring to? If it's related to the backup sensors, or rear cross traffic alerts, I don't think Bimmercode can turn that off, but I could be wrong. It it's something else you're asking, please let me know.

Yes, the disabling of the start/stop does work on my 2023.
I'm guessing that the dealership can do this for you when you buy the car or when you bring it in for service? That is something Lexus techs can do, although I'm not sure if they would charge you for it after the warranty expires.
I would be very surprised if a dealership would be willing to do this, much less for free.
@TheLemonFactor We had them change one or two for our Lexus RX400h, within a year of upgrade purchase. I believe the dealership had a time limit from purchase to have it done at no cost.
Of course, that was a Lexus dealership, not Toyota.

Don't forget to disable the exhaust sound that comes through the stereo!

@@TheLemonFactor the ASD has been known to mess with the DSP of the stereo (even in comfort mode), many people have reported that the sound system is better with it disabled. You'll probably need to start looking at exhausts though!

What happens if you change the endianness?

@@TheLemonFactor As you where scrolling through the menu in expert mode I noticed the option to change the endianness. What happens if you change that?
@@laughing5559It likely does exactly that, changes the endianness (byte ordering).
I'd leave it as default though, because assuming it's set correctly, if you flip it and then code something you may crush other options (eg. if multiple values are bitfielded into one dword or qword).
I'm guessing this is likely all aligned memory, because memory is cheap, so you'd only fuck up options that have numerical values like the mirror tilt angle, but I'd not mess with it unless you know you should.
Is there a turbo gauge code
Not that I’m aware of, but it would be nice to know exactly what psi of boost pressure you’re at 🤔
P3 has a vent mount gauge that plugs into the obd port that can read off all the parameters including boost that runs around $400

How in the world can we tune this car without paying thousands just to get the ECU unlocked?
I’m really shocked that no one is offering this service in the U.S. 😕. With that said, the alternative is to go JB4, which can be custom tuned. 🤷♂️

It’s crazy that you can’t permanently turn it off from a factory setting 😕
In California, hybrids are very popular, so a start/stop Supra would appear to others to be a hybrid. I'm used to driving my wife's hybrid, so I may not mind starting and stopping, especially while in heavy traffic.
