That's hilarious about how you'll always think of yourself as a blonde because I'm the same way! My hair is not as dark as yours and is less of a brown / more of an ashy color, but I also had light golden blonde hair growing up and especially in high school it started getting darker. I just got money and giftcards for Christmas, so I've been making orders- most of them book-ish! I recently got _Moll Flanders_ by Daniel Defoe, _Persuasion_ by Jane Austen, _The Bostonians_ by Henry James, _The Pumpkin Eater_ by Penelope Mortimer, _Heartstopper Vol.3_ by Alice Osman, _The Magician_ by Colm Toibin, and _Tenderness_ by Alison MacLeod. There's still a good stack more on my wishlist I plan on getting ( _The Rainbow_ by D.H. Lawrence, _Hangsaman_ by Shirley Jackson, _Death in Venice_ by Thomas Mann, _Decline & Fall_ by Evelyn Waugh, _The Nun_ by Denis Diderot, _The Leopard_ by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa, _The Marquise de Gange_ by the Marquis de Sade, and _The Age of Innocence_ by Edith Wharton) but I'm spreading out the purchases. I also got some more cozy long sleeve shirts and sweaters :) I'm a week late to this but late Merry Christmas and Happy New Year anyway!!

100% agree about children's literature!! I saved my Beatrix Potter, Little House, Secret Garden, etc.. It was a wonderful experience reading them to my daughter. Someday you will experience it and it is the most wonderful feeling in the world! Oh, Little Women! How could I forget Little Women? 🥰

When I was a kid I was blonde toooo!!!!! But one day I cut my hair like Rapunzel and it turned black, i swear i’m not making this up, the same thing happened to my mother when she was a kid too

I still have the Norwegian copy of "The tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle" in the drawer of my nightstand. One of my favourite childhood books, and I always wanted to read the rest of her books as a child. Now I really want to buy this box set as well🥰
I wish I was as much of a gentle soul like you when I was younger so that I read books like those written by Beatrix Potter. I read hot trash when I was younger ( I.e junie b Jones books). Carolyn you were the perfect Edwardian child. A few of them have been inspired by your videos. You have made Russian classics sound so very interesting. One of the first ones that I have bought and are currently reading is Anna Karenina. It has been awhile since I have read a classic and I forgotten how much I love them. Thank you so much for the feeling of truly loving what I am reading again.
Happy New Year! I have that Beatrix Potter box set and I love to read it to my children. It’s not the set I had as a child but I adore sharing the stories that my mum read to me as a child with my children now. If you’re ever over in the UK, I really recommend a visit to Hilltop. I went a couple of years ago and it was a wonderful experience. There’s also the world of Beatrix Potter museum in bow ness-on-Windermere which was just a fantastic time- my kids really enjoyed that. So if you’re ever over here, that’s a must I feel for you. Take care and have a lovely new year xx
