We are looking for a record label to release and hope to find it soon. So, there will no longer be just a demos and live records \m/

The guys in Skinless formed the band just a few blocks down from my house. The original drummer now works at a pizza shop just down the road, always thought that was cool.
You forgot the Colombian Brutal Death Metal scene. There's a giant scene down there that is largely ignored by the global Metal scene. South America in general has tons of Metal that goes largely ignored if it isn't the few Brazilian bands people pay attention to.
I remember this style of metal was *everywhere* when I was in highschool. Most of it was on the Deathcore side of the Deathcore/Brutal Death spectrum but like you said the differences stopped mattering by the 00s. All the bands had names likes "X of Y" and their logos were unreadable scribbles. The people who were into this music all had skinny jeans, emo haircuts, infected facial piercings, and MASSIVELY gauged ears; they really looked like emo/metalhead hybrids. My little group of kvlt dorks would scratch our heads (especially when we realized these mall-spawn were getting mad puss and we were all angry virgins) and try to figure out if us or them was the bigger posers. TBH a lot of them were nice and liked our satanic shrieking music and hingr-dingr euro-metal enough to hang out with us, so I guess we were the posers all along haha. The 00s truly were a cultural wasteland unless you were into video games.
I can only imagine what it'd be like if we got a 'Bastardized History of Deathcore' from Goniloc in the future. That would legitimately make my year, this format is incredible. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like it'll happen, but one can hope.
Im so stoked to see Effigy of the Forgotten getting the recognition it deserves for once. Also Suffo in general. That combination of Terrance and Frank is unmatched in my opinion. On top of that every member of the band has usually been an excellent musician
@@defaceddeath I haven’t really seen that myself but I don’t doubt it happens. I’ve certainly seen Suffocation getting their due though. You know who I don’t think gets enough credit, Broken Hope. Swamped in Gore came out the same year as Effigy and presented a unique, brutal and groove oriented style. Not that they deserve more credit than Suffocation but they deserve more credit than I see them get sometimes
@@defaceddeath Ya I feel like it's the other way around LMAO. I didn't even know about Internal Bleeding for a long time, but everyone I know knows Suffocation
Im glad you gave props to Deicide and Cannibal Corpse as a part of Brutal Death Metal history. I'm pretty sure when Decide's self titled hit the record stores in 1990, it was the most brutal Death Metal album recorded.
All I have to say is, Severed Savior's "Servile Insurrection" is one of the greatest west- coast brutal death metal albums ever made. Good stuff Goniloc.
@@ianw5663 The new Odious Mortem album rips (the much more technical brutal death metal project from the ashes of Severed Savior), but yeah i agree, hard to top those albums in large.
This content has helped me in the exact way I needed to navigate the genres I've been blurring and enjoying without proper ability to compartmentalize them.
I bought human waste on tape at deerbrook mall in the sam goody music store in 92 when I was 15 years old. It didn't have the warning label on it yet because they didn't know what was even being said yet. !
My country (Spain) has also quite a few good brutal death metal bands, such as Wormed, Human Mincer, Velocidad Absurda, Goreinhaled, Fermento and Kevlar Skin, to name a few. Also, I've been binging your stuff lately. Funny and informative, a suscription well deserved, mate!
Skinless song "The Optimist" was one of the first songs I listened too as a kid. Playing Quake II was never the same back then. Edit: Life sucks and then you die indeed. Go listen to the song man
Never really got into that black metal genre. Low fi production is fine in some cases, but most dsbm sounds like they stuck a microphone inside a pillow, inside a bathtub, while the band is playing in the next room over. Not exactly pleasant to listen to in my opinion.
It’s rather funny how death Metal, being a subgenre of heavy metal, has a micro genre of brutal death metal, which has 3 micro-micro genres of technical brutal death metal, slam metal, and brutal deathgrind
Chimpdog was a live action children's show that was produced by Klasky-Csupo and aired on Nickelodeon from 2003 through 2006. It centered around the adventures of a real life hybrid Chimpdog, a hybrid mammal created through genetic recombination of Great Dane and Chimpanzee DNA. Every episode consisted of a plotline based around Chimpdog getting into a troublesome situation, and then solving said situation and learning a lesson with the help with his owners and adopted family, the McVeighs. Despite consistently high ratings, the show was cancelled abruptly near the end of production of the fourth season, leaving many episodes famously half-finished.
Yes, Nile is my favourite band of all time. Every album is a masterpiece. How do you like the guitar player switch? I think they're just as brutal and creative as ever. They still have that great chemistry on stage as well and they're such nice people. So friendly and just having fun and enjoying their time on stage and very appreciative of the fans. I'm such a fanboy :D
Nile is also my favorite band. I see them every chance I get. I fangirled at a show once and still have their autographs framed and hanging proudly on the wall. Amazing musicians.
Lovely video! I only found myself pausing and searching bands you mentioned in other tabs about 6 times in this one. Usually the number is higher, but Brutal Death is something I am more familiar with the most other subgenres of metal. That is second only to Technical Death Metal which I hope to see a video from you on soon (that is if you even like the genre.)
There was this band when I lived in Tampa back in 98. Got a free demo of theirs at Ace's Records. The band was, or is, called Dominion. Best tape I ever had. Cant find it digitally anywhere, not even on here. But I recall one song being called Mind's Eye. Some samples from horror movies on some songs. Such as a clip of a guy saying "don't bury me, im not dead" or something like that. Anyone remember them or this and can help in my eternal quest?
Goniloc, are you from Lithuania? Why else would you show a flag of Estonia when you said "enemy" EDIT: I wrote this comment before you mentioned Lithuania in the video. Now it's not as funny. :(
Why would you think that Lithuania and Estonia are enemies? Far from it. Despite a few jokes about each other, the Baltic countries are friends. We do love soup though :)
Goddamn right, even Suffocation & Internal bleeding called Indonesia as death metal capital of the world, refers to how big death metal scene in Indonesia
Surprised to see that there was no mention of the Dutch brutal death metal scene, with bands like Severe Torture, Pyaemia, Disavowed, and Fumes of Decay. Also one cannot overlook Greece's Inveracity, which was one the finest brutal death bands ever.
Pyrexia, Scattered Remnants, Neglect... goddamnit I love you. You are THE metal and HxC historian. Dying Fetus even cover Next Step Up as complete evidence of these genres’ overlap.
Oh BDM. A genre I don’t particularly care for but one I know far too much amount. Most of Goniloc’s videos are just full of bands I’ve never heard of but I recognized a solid 80% of this. Upsetting. Yay Defeated Sanity mention! No Brodequin love was strange. Edit: is Wormed too mainstream for this list? Tunnel of Ions is a classic technical brutal death song imo
If any of you have not checked it out yet listen to Amongst The Low & Empty by Signs of the Swarm. It’s got that awesome, brutal, slamming field, but at the same time, the majority of their music has a lot of technicality to it.
At least delve a little deeper and go into the more chonky, bassy, bouncy, and polyrhythmic percussive tones that are known to all... as DJENT METAL. These silly sods, myself as a fan included, have been the most experimental in the genre by taking any longer scale length guitar to nearly inaudible lows. Not only are these Djentlemen drop tuning their guitars to such extreme lows, they even go to another guitar with additional strings, and tune that guitar even lower to achieve a more diabolical tone for when the breakdown needs to hit even harder. Most groups in this genre don't even think to hire a bassist because of how low tuned their guitars are... but there are some who add that bass player to get more of that bouncy feel in their music. Take a listen to bands like Rings of Saturn, Attila, and Periphery to get an idea of how these bands make the genre stand out more. Then count out the guitarist to bassist ratio, and factor in the number of strings from both guitars and basses from each band... but then again, I digress.
AFAIK, Goniloc kinda gave it to someone else and left. This person then deleted it after some time - some say Goniloc ordered it, as he couldn't handle what the server turned into. Others, that the new responsible was just crazy/overly edgy (which appears to be true). I was expecting Goniloc to announce a new discord, but i guess this won't happen. I saw the threats of deletion, and didn't believed until the nuke was launched. Petty squabble between members, and clash with the new owner PoLiTicAl oPiNiONs, probably were the main factors of the deletion order.
@Danny Dircio The first albums that got me into Brutal Death Metal. Katalepsy Autopsychosis and Abominable Putridity The Anomalies of Artificial Origin.
8:14 [Black Seeds of Vengeance Intensifies] Dude, I've been waiting for you to cover one of my favorite metal sub-genres. Brutal Death, Tech Death, Prog Death are the trifecta for me. Favorites include: Nile, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus, Necrophagist, Spawn of Possession, Gorod, Hannes Grossmann
Did you really talked for 13 minutes about history of brutal death mentioning noname Latvian demos, but completely ignoring HUNDREDS of Indonesian bands?
Cool video should have included all the South American bands as well. Cause there was a grip of them in the 00's. Internal Suffering probably being the most known.
Mortal Decay, Scattered Remnants, Internal Bleeding, Broken Hope, Skinless, Devourment, Deeds of Flesh, Viscera Infest, Mortician, Cryptopsy, Pyrexia, Cenotaph… The classics. Check out Jimmy from the Block.
Am I the only one that thinks that Brutal Death Metal is criminally underrated and rarely talked about? Like, this is - as far as I know - the first proper BDM "anthology." Slam gets talked about a fair bit and is more out there, both musically and because of channels like Slam Worldwide, but more straightforward BDM bands on labels like New Standard Elite, Comatose, Willowtip etc. somewhat fly under the radar imo. Especially in the 2010s, releases like Abominable Putridity's "The Anomalies of Artificial Origin," Visceral Disgorge's "Ingesting Putridity," or even Cerebral Bore's "Maniacal Miscreation" were kinda huge, yet cult followings for underground BDM bands are virtually nonexistent compared to underground Black Metal and the coverage it gets in media in general. And that's even though there are some huge names in BDM like Devourment, Defeated Sanity, Mortician, and household names like Suffocation or Nile. I really don't know if many people obsess over this genre of music as much as I do but if you do I'd be super interested what your thoughts on it are. If you're into the music you can also check out this Spotify playlist with dope BDM of all sorts: open.spotify.com/playlist/3dQkW97AJqfNPPO2KMxupW?si=VDQaYgSqTl6wzPfp1S0tLQ

Im glad you gave props to Deicide and Cannibal Corpse as a part of Brutal Death Metal history. I'm pretty sure when Decide's self titled hit the record stores in 1990, it was the most brutal Death Metal album recorded.
Brutal death metal is for us hardcore necrophiliacs

Goniloc is my favorite channel that talks about genres and bands.
All I have to say is, Severed Savior's "Servile Insurrection" is one of the greatest west- coast brutal death metal albums ever made. Good stuff Goniloc.
Excellent band. That and 'Diminishing Between Worlds' are the only ones from that scene I still listen to here in 2020/2021
@@ianw5663 The new Odious Mortem album rips (the much more technical brutal death metal project from the ashes of Severed Savior), but yeah i agree, hard to top those albums in large.
@@DJTheMetalheadMercenary Will have to give it a spin - definitely a name I remember from my old SMN metal forum days!
This content has helped me in the exact way I needed to navigate the genres I've been blurring and enjoying without proper ability to compartmentalize them.
Ahh yeah, the return of the best Metal related series on youtube.
Work place constructionist reporting in.
This has been sitting in my “watch later list for a while. Happy to finally check it out. Effortlessly hilarious. Thanks for the lolz
I'm probably gonna get crucified here but I'd love to see a deathcore video!
I bought human waste on tape at deerbrook mall in the sam goody music store in 92 when I was 15 years old. It didn't have the warning label on it yet because they didn't know what was even being said yet. !
Cryptopsy's None so Vile is peak BDM album in my opinion.
WOW! Finally a new video of "A Bastardized history of"
ikr,I already watched all his other bastardized history videos wanted more so bad
Go listen to the song man
I always think I'm in a barn when I hear both death metal and brutal death metal vocalists sing
I am expecting a Bastardised history of DSBM...please
Yes, yes, YES finally another supreme genre dsbm connoisseur
It better mention Lifelover...
Never really got into that black metal genre. Low fi production is fine in some cases, but most dsbm sounds like they stuck a microphone inside a pillow, inside a bathtub, while the band is playing in the next room over. Not exactly pleasant to listen to in my opinion.
I second it.
BDSM?
Corrupted cover art:
Rotting Christ???
So crazy seeing neglect and NSU referenced in a death metal video. This is good
This man is just a heavy metal version of samonella and I love that
Really hoping we get a Corrupted Cover Art on Nile someday.
Brutal death metal/slam is my favorite death metal sub-genre 🤷♂️. Surprised you didn’t mention Epicardiectomy, Cephahlotripsy or Kraaniun tho
It’s rather funny how death Metal, being a subgenre of heavy metal, has a micro genre of brutal death metal, which has 3 micro-micro genres of technical brutal death metal, slam metal, and brutal deathgrind
@@stephenventura4075 isn't brutal deathgrind just goregrind?
Great video, also thanks for mentioning the importance of the mighty Suffocation
This is my favorite TH-cam series. Just endless quality laughs.
Will you do a bastardized history on technical death metal?
Yes, Nile is my favourite band of all time. Every album is a masterpiece. How do you like the guitar player switch? I think they're just as brutal and creative as ever. They still have that great chemistry on stage as well and they're such nice people. So friendly and just having fun and enjoying their time on stage and very appreciative of the fans. I'm such a fanboy :D
Nile is also my favorite band. I see them every chance I get. I fangirled at a show once and still have their autographs framed and hanging proudly on the wall. Amazing musicians.
The best.
Ah yes, brutal death metal, like Limp Bizkit?
No. he’s talking about real metal, like imagine dragons.

The hatred of Estonia grows ever stronger. Deepest lore
Lovely video! I only found myself pausing and searching bands you mentioned in other tabs about 6 times in this one. Usually the number is higher, but Brutal Death is something I am more familiar with the most other subgenres of metal. That is second only to Technical Death Metal which I hope to see a video from you on soon (that is if you even like the genre.)
see death metal hearing pink floyd
One word: Repudilation
There was this band when I lived in Tampa back in 98. Got a free demo of theirs at Ace's Records. The band was, or is, called Dominion. Best tape I ever had. Cant find it digitally anywhere, not even on here. But I recall one song being called Mind's Eye. Some samples from horror movies on some songs. Such as a clip of a guy saying "don't bury me, im not dead" or something like that. Anyone remember them or this and can help in my eternal quest?
Goniloc, are you from Lithuania? Why else would you show a flag of Estonia when you said "enemy"
EDIT: I wrote this comment before you mentioned Lithuania in the video. Now it's not as funny. :(

Why would you think that Lithuania and Estonia are enemies? Far from it. Despite a few jokes about each other, the Baltic countries are friends. We do love soup though :)

🤘NILE, CRYPTOPSY and DYING FETUS...f**king love em!What I love about this channel is how hilariously constructed the videos are😂🤘
Excellent timing. I just watched the bastardized history of DM this morning. We're begging you for more content, Goniloc.
Ahhhh my childhood summed up in one video. Thanks Goniloc.
I'll leave a recommendation of Inveracity - Extermination of Millions
What happened to the discord server?
I was gonna comment this
AFAIK, Goniloc kinda gave it to someone else and left.
