Joy Larson, God is Love, dear sister. We can only speculate as to anyone's salvation, and as Orthodox we are not to. What we can do, however, is know of God's Mercy through Revelation and trust that He wants us all with Him in Heaven. No one but God can truly answer your question, but take comfort in God's revealed Nature, trust Him, and continue to pray daily. I hope and pray you find peace. God bless!!!

Yes "Believe AND have Faith". God loves your Son more than you do. Believe in His love and have Faith in His goodness and mercy. Never stop praying for your Son and your continued love will continually rise up before God as incense.
If you will share your son's name I and I believe others also will add Him to our prayers as well :)
May the Lord bless you and your Son.

I needed this Fr. Aquaro seminar for my emotional and psychological comfort. Months ago I had a bad dream where I faced my death and I was not brave and not stoic as I thought I could be. I was terrified to the point of panic and tears. All this despite my beliefs in God and His promise of death yet everlasting life hereafter. It is true. Everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to die.

As we grow closer to God through prayer repentance etc our small steps are toward godliness ... the ENEMY Satan and his demons don’t allow us to breathe - NOUS- they converge in our mind as if it’s is our own - it’s a trick they use and they have many - even becoming angels of light to give our ego a boost - don’t ever despair - pay no attention to the minds talk and keep in prayer with humility- God knows your HEART +++

What is there to fear about death except hell and demons?
Dying is not really a problem, it's what potentially comes after it.
If I was to know with certainty for a fact that once I die, I'm gone: no heaven, no hell, no nothing, just - gone, I'd be pretty ok with it, for the most part.

1 Thess. 4:13-18. 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Opportunity for repentance after death is inconsistent with most orthodox teaching. Contradictory teaching in something this important leads to anxiety and fear or even far worse, complacency. God help us to confess and repent in this life and fully submit to Your will and rest in the hope of Your ineffable mercy for everything that happens in the next.

Jesus actually raised some people up before the crucifixion. Certainly Jesus can raise people up even today for many have come back and told the tale.

Father George Aquaro has an open mind to salvation.Death is so final to Christian as a whole and yet father George A says you are still Orthodox and there is hope. Regarding suicide father George A sees hope.
I think that the clergy of the church should be ashamed that they have drained salvation as the reason for our faith. I know of a cruel environment which tormented an innocent person to take his life, and yet the church will see the sin of suicide and yet forgive those who pulled the psychological trigger. The Pharisees were similar to the modern Cristian churches preaching strict laws to salvation. God is all loving and he is all forgiving. Who are we to judge ? If we believe that salvation is limited to this world then we do not believe in life eternal.
The only sin which cannot be forgiven is denying the Holy Spirit. I suppose that although we sin if we love the Holy Spirit there is salvation even after death. Judas turned away from God and placed his salvation in the hands of evil men and for that reason he could not be saved.

the idea of Purgatory comes from 1 Corinthians 3:13-15 "each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."
