You are doing so much for me. Until two years ago, I just didn't understand quilters. Then, the quilting bug bit and I was invited to join a guild. I quit end of the year because, being a newbie, I felt like an impostor. Now, a year later, and another year into my newfound retired life, I find that I miss it and need it, and am re-upping. You are inspiring me with the day-to-day working it into my new schedule. You've said that you quilt in the mornings. As I'm not a morning person, I spend an hour on weekdays in my sewing room, after lunch and a chore. Also, fibromyalgia has recently become a physical limitation, and quilting for an hour is do-able and is meaningful work for my life and benefits the lives of those who receive them. Thank you.
I was told I could make beautiful quilts here in Poland because I had beautiful fabric from the states. At that I decided to challenge myself to making quilts from only upcycled fabrics - mostly from second-hand shops - men's shirts, sheets, duvet covers. I ended up making a series of 50 queen size quilts from blues - calling it my Upcycled Blues series. Did the same with Greens - but I am not finished with this series. Great job - love to see quilters being economical and having fun while doing so - Becky - aka Quilted Twin #2.
I am not a quilter but watching you create is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous, functional, and raising money for animal rescue and charity. You are good people. Thank you.
I like them all! That postage stamp quilt looks really cool. Looks like it took a long time to make. The 2 that are going up for auction are sure to bring lots of money! 🤞
I love how the sashing helps make it all cohesive. I've not made a "fancy" sashing but I sure like the look, especially with the cornerstones. I'll have to keep this in mind as I can see it also helps make the quilt bigger. Thanks for sharing.
I simply love your scrappy quilts. Makes me think of my Grandma Maggie. She grew up during the Great Depression and never wasted anything - not even her fabric scraps. Just like you, she turned them into beautiful and useful pieces of art.
I love that you save both money and pre-order but beautiful fabrics. I used to quilt by hand and made them to order for others, either as gifts or for sale. Arthritis has made it impossible now and GUESS who hasn't got one of my quilts? Me! But we do have a beautiful inherited, antique Welsh quilt and a bought one too.
I didn't think it would be possible to see you make a scrappy quilt in such a short video, but you did it! I am a quilter, so I understood what you were doing, but even for a non-quilter, this is a very educational video. I marveled at your postage stamp quilt. I'd have been blind by the time I finished such a masterpiece. You've inspired me to pick up my quilting again. I have been an AWOL quilter for several years. Thank you so much. I declare that you make everything you do from cooking to gardening to quiliting look easy...but I know it's not. Diane in NC
Jane, what a lovely quilt! I, too, make quilts from scraps. I just can't see any piece of fabric go in the garbage. I have never made a "sampler quilt", but watching this video makes me want to start one now! Thanks for sharing this video.
Stunning quilts Jane. As a quilter I know how much time they will have taken you to make but how enjoyable each and every stitch is to sew. I hope they raise lots of money for the charity. Thanks for sharing.
You are very talented - Your quilts are absolutely gorgeous, even the one you claim didn't turn out very well ! Well done (also) for donating them for a worthy cause . 🌼🌼🌼
That is one terrific quilt😊. Watching the whole process of you making the quilt has been wonderful. Great us of scraps and repurposed fabric. This video proves you really a Queen of frugal and of the quilts are so colourful 🎉 Lovely video and thank you Jane and Mike😊
I pieced my first (doll)quilt at the age of 5 and have been in love with the craft for almost 60 years. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful quilts. I have never used the pieced "cornerstones" but it is definitely something to do on my next quilt!
Beautiful quilts! I still fight with squishing them through a domestic machine. I have a Bernina patchwork edition, but I don't think the aperture is big enough. I usually do very simple quilting patterns. My other problem is, I love my quilts too much to give them away. I can only give them away if they have been specifically made for someone else.
I'm always amazed at how fabrics that are so different in color, hue and pattern can combine to make something beautiful. My own favourite quilt is one I made from all of my "ugly" fabrics. I also do the same as you with leftover pieces of binding. Love your postage stamp quilt - I'm inspired to start my own. Happy Sunday, Jane and Mike!
Beautiful! I’m not a quilter but I really enjoyed the video. You have a wonderful sense of color. It’s very kind of you to donate the quilts to be raffled off for charity.
Well done on all your quilts. As a quilter also I have become good at using up scraps. The good thing is there is an endless supply. The colors in your Sampler quilt were so pretty. I will have to remember the pieced sashing and the 9 patch blocks you used. Very clever. It feels good to share your efforts with local charities.😊
Thankyou so much for this video. My patchwork so far has been limited to cushion covers and I haven’t tried quilting , but this really inspired me to have a go and be a bit more creative with my scraps.
What an absolute treat to see you turn your scraps into such beautiful quilts. I’m with you on the not crawling around on the floor pinning layers together any more. If I was younger I would buy a longarm, but my compromise is to make lap quilts which fundraise for our local Community use hall. The downside of course is the time it takes to hand stitch and hand quilt, it’s taking me far too long to reduce my scraps!
I love the way you used your orphan blocks!! The sashing really makes a difference! ❤ Totally agree about the longarm. I also spent years wrestling quilts on my sit down machine but I'm not getting any younger and just don't have the strength anymore. Right before i retired my dad helped me get a long arm. Its fun to use and I can finish a quilt so much faster now! Great video!
Jane, what beautiful quilts. I love all the colors. I'm a beginner at quilt making. I have only made 2 lap quilts and a patchwork memory quilt. I'm currently making a panel quilt with borders for my oldest grandson. Nothing as beautiful as your quilts. I have lots of fabric that I've had for years since I have always done some type of sewing. Hoping to make quilts for the other 4 grandkids soon also.
Do you ever use polyester batting? I can get it quite inexpensively here in Poland. I, too, just got my long arm last year after quilting since the mid 2000s. I would absolutely love to send you a box of 2.5" strips for you to use from me in Poland as i have literally bags and bags of them that I've been cutting up from my scraps since 2016. I feel like you are a kindred spirit when it comes to quilting. It would be fun for me.
As another upcycled quilter I love seeing this. We can all learn from one another with this sort of thing. I have to admit to a certain long arm envy, but my output doesn't merit that cost.
I totally get the basting on the floor and wrangling the quilt through the domestic sewing machine! I normally move my machine to the dining room table so at least the quilt has more space to sit and doesn't fall off the desk at a crucial point.
I love seeing your work. I’m not a quilter but my Mother started quilting recently. She has spent a fortune on machines and fabric. I recommended to her that she make quilts and donate them to a charity as a fund raiser. I told her that’s what you do. It’s nice to see you quilt without spending so much money.?
Thank you for sharing your quilts, Jane. I always love to see other people's work. You have inspired me to make a postage stamp quilt and scrappy sampler quilt from my scraps. I will donate these to Palliative care patients at a local hospital. Please keep sharing your quilts with viewers. Thank you.
My grandmother was a quilter but I never learned to sew or quilt (she lived out of state). Really enjoyed seeing the equipment that you use. I had never heard of lining the quilt with a sheet. Wonderful ideas, thank you so much!
Thank you Jane. I have been looking foreward to this video. I am amazed at the speed in wich you are quilting. It shows you 20 year long experience. I Hope to be able to buy a long arm in the future.
lovely Jane, I so wish I could sew but I havent got the skill, but I appreciate the work that has gone into them, they are all stunning, in fact, your postage stamp quilt is my favourite :-) - I can knit, though & I knit log cabin blankets for the local dog rescue, and am always looking in charity shops for wool
Jane, such beautiful quilts. I handq😂uilt and piece also. I do machine quilt baby and small quilts. There e is much peace when you sew for others and also yourself. Thank you for your generous spirit. Chris
Jane, I think you quilts are beautiful. The videos you share of things you create are my favourite. Thank you for all the tips as well. I hope they catch a good price at the Fair. Happy quilting ❤
I always enjoy your quilting videos and was interested in what you said about the cops of quilting thread you use really being for embroidery machines, so does it have a slight sheen to it? Could you post an amazon link to the thread you use? I know it’s polyester as you said. I have started keeping old duvet covers for backing and cutting up old cotton clothing for use in quilts. Hope all is well with you and yours and thank you again for your youtube videos, really love ‘em.
Love to see your quilts. Do you listen to music or music /TV while you quilt? I love to see the difference in where you can get fabric. Our charity shops here in Canada are not good for fabric. I currently don't have a longarm but hopefully 1 day. Thanks Jane

Your quilts are beautiful! You’ve inspired me to use up my scraps. Now that the garden is winding down, I’ll have more time for quilting.

The " orphan pieces " quilt is gorgeous. Well done Jane and for a great cause. Blessings to all
Thanks Pamela
Beautiful quilts! I hope you would consider how too videos!

Look up Bonnie Hunter's scrap management system

You are so talented, it was a joy to watch and I wish I was able to quilt.
I did enjoy making your apple and ginger chutney though. Fab! 🤗

Hello from new jersey 🇺🇸. Always wanted to try my hand a quilting.😊
Go for it!
Hi jane snd mike, watching from essex uk. Love your quilts, at mo im taking 30 yr old quilts apart to remake damaged blocks and binding. Ive done one, it was hard work but satisfying to finish it and see it look like new.
Thats recycling
They look so warm and cozy! How do you finish the corners with binding? Does bunch up?
No bunching, look up videos of mitre corners of quilt binding. Thanks for watching
