I know how much time you spent on planning this trip, taking these videos, spending countless hours choosing the best clips out of all the other amazing ones, putting them all together into a story and narrating it. Just finished it. Wow - this is truly amazing work! 😍 I feel I've shared the whole experience with you now. I've always dreamed of skating on a lake but this is on another level... ! Lake Baikal 😳😁 It is so well made - it is a real movie - what a great adventure! I hope it gets a million views.
    Few questions....
    1. How long did it take you to plan this?
    2. How do you always know the ice will be thick enough and what if it ever broke?
    3. What would you have done if you hadn't found the road? Because you may not have survived the night in those temperatures! I was genuinely worried whilst watching ha 🙄 Did you have tents and sleeping bags in case??
    Beautiful... stunning.. congrats on an incredible production...seriously well done and thanks for sharing!!❤

      Thank you so much this means a lot to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
      to answer your questions:
      We planned this around 5months before, to find out as much info as we could. We actually asked a bunch of Airbnb hosts about the conditions of the route and the ice, it was the best way to find locals that stay there year around.
      We asked locals for the thickness of ice and we stopped and checked every once in awhile but it was actually very thick (1-2m thick) just makes a lot of sounds. And if we did go through we had Hot tea, emergency blankets and easily a another full set of clothes and ropes to get out with.
      We had GPS so we knew where and how far the road was and we also knew that at that distance we could have made it to the nearest town. We didn't know how many mountains where between but we knew the distance lol. We didn't have sleeping bags or tents but really couldn't have spent the night, its too cold at night. We also had working phones incase worse came to worse.
      Really appreciate it and I hope I answered everything :)

      @MaskSwabe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Global Ice Yes that answers pretty much everything - thanks for responding. That's so cool man. I figured it must have taken a lot of planning and it makes sense to get info from the locals as you did. 1-2m thick is insane .. wow. I think even though you wanted to keep going down the lake further the 'setback' of having to detour through an unknown number of mountains to get to that road just added to the adventure of the whole trip... also made great viewing ha 😄 Terrific... I really loved it. Maybe one day you can start doing skating tours or similar. It could work out really well! 😍🥳 there is Lake Alberta in Canada which I've often watched videos and dreamed about.. one day. Keep up the amazing work 🙌

      @@MaskSwabe It really does add to the adventure. Its the unknown challenges that make it an adventure. This really makes me feel great hearing all of this and I really hope one day we can do a tour together. Thanks again 😁

      Там много сопровождающих гидов , которые знают все дороги .
      Кроме другого снаряжения , обязательно нужно брать с собой очки против солнца и крем от ультрафиолета чтобы защитить кожу . 😊
      Лёд начинает становиться в январе . Наилучшее время для зимнего туризма это конец февраля - начало марта .
      На Байкале очень мощная энергетика . заряжает на год и более .
      Счастливой вам поездки !

    wow - rough ice like that on figure skates - that must have been a real toughie! 14:36
    This video is seriously unreal... I don't think I have seen anything like it.
    I imagine there must also be some great lakes to skate north of Toronto... ?

    • @GlobalIce
      @GlobalIce  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oh im not sure if you would feel more of the bumps in figures compared to hockeys. I think for the distance its a bit easier to glide with hockeys. and yes there are some lakes but you have to go far north of Toronto to have good ice. not sure how they are though I haven't actually been able to skate a natural lake in Canada yet. Hopefully this year on our tour there...
