brother gave me his old ipod with all his songs on it when i was 10, found this song on it and instantly fell in love, im 25 now and dt is still my favorite band of all time
Listening to this album after so many years of been released has the amazing effect of making me a DT loyal fan once again..guess I was always their biggest fan but in all honesty needed a break from their music to fully Re appreciate them as the Best Progressive Metal Band on Earth..and is 2022
I see now. It was Portnoy's energy fueling the band. Rudess and Petrucci's genius was in their ability to harness it (due to their years of study!), and without it they just kind of flounder about now.
I was thinking the same right now, listening to this since a lot of years. I play guitar and I always thought I liked DT mainly beacause of Petrucci, but now I know the main factor was Portnoy's drumming.
Since the guy on metropolis is doing therapy, and this album talks about mental illness it may have some connection, although I´m not sure if there´s an actual history or just an aproach on the mental subject.
@@EdgarDGomez-fx6vh I did. And I do not like it. Usual riffs, trite melodic lines, same old patterns (ADTOE). The only thing I save is Rudess' solo. Perfect.

Who is listening in 2020? I am, since 2002. And if you need to check the date from a TH-cam video, you oughta get a calendar.
My favorite DT album...
Me. Everyday, in this moment
Been listening since 2004 and I won't stop anytime soon. Best band ever!
The part from 1:45-5:53 is so mindblowing - its so hammering into your mind... unbelievable
And best section stars right from there until the instrumentak break.
Totally agree dude! 🔥🔥🔥
Nicolas, poor Nicolas
BOM.... BOM.... BADADAM ....BADADAM....BADADAMDoDODOOO WOwwwWoowwwWowww
Oh my God... What would give to watch this Live when they'd launched the album...
I had the pleasure of seeing it live once. It was so good.
th-cam.com/video/8h81PggfE8I/w-d-xo.html You're welcome😉
If you have thia song once you will never forget it. Ever.
Merci David. 🤘
What a introduction gentleman's... 🔥🔥🔥
Besides this, anyone know any other good songs for beginning drummers?
Lmao
Rush, 2112 ;)

try this title from Dream Theater :
Honor Thy Father
This Dying Soul
Infant Annihilator - Cuntcrusher
Any song in Metallica's St. Anger
DT at their best !
Masterpiece

Energy indeed. This song is exhausting. Now I know why Malmsteen said Portnoy "needs to take a Valium".

@@asammler your tasteless.
DT at their finest
Who's here after Portnoy returned to Dream Theater?
I've been here since 2007 bro. 🤘
I Am! ❤
Awesome
The static at the start! Leaves off right after the end of Metropolis pt 2?
Since the guy on metropolis is doing therapy, and this album talks about mental illness it may have some connection, although I´m not sure if there´s an actual history or just an aproach on the mental subject.
This begins a "meta album" that concludes with Octavarium. The end of this album leads directly into their next album (Train of Thought), and so on.
2024!!
2:22 Can we just appreciate Petrucci's speed in this part?
Bella canzone bravi i dream theather

I remember clear as day hearing this song when I was 15 and realizing that all the music I had liked prior to this point sucked.
Rush on steroids
“Noise. I’m out.”
-David Prater
worst album. so boring , DT lost something very important during passing from 20 to the 21 century

Listen to 'untethered angel' (new album) then come back to this. Time for retirement?
No.
No. Listen to Fall into the light
