I thought, too the number blocks are stamps, but I guess it was made for other collages like lost and found or so, you can use the 3, the 6 as nine, and the 9 as six. You can use them for Gelli printing on the plate and when you print then it will be on the right side. TFS this nice page.

BEAUTIFUL, as always!! I live in the same town as Tim Holtz, so if I happen to see him I'm gonna let him know your unhappy with his products! I'm going to give him your TH-cam info so hopefully he will get in touch with you! He's a super sweet guy and I'm sure he would be sad that you didn't get the very best quality product, especially since you have to go through SO much to get them all the way in Austria!! The Tim Holtz number blocks are designed to be a 3D element, not flat, not with the number separated from the block, and not as a stamp.
He does have some great large number stamps that you could use in a journal.

Idea for you: Stamp on plain vellum or acetate with permanent ink, color in. If you don't have Modeling paste. Add some baby powder to your gesso to make a paste. Would be cute to add a string to the bullet pin and make a fight path. Very beautiful

Barbara, that page turned out great. Love the colors of the butterfly. Another tip and you may already know, when stamping butterflies or any insect with antennas and legs, stamp the image on your page and then glue the cut out in top and the antenna is already there. I also love Tim Holtz products and am surprised at the way that was made. What else could those block numbers be used for? I would’ve assumed they were stamps as well. As always TFS! ❤️

I am pretty sure the numbers are made to be used in 3D mixed media projects. By adding the ink and such, you could be causing them to come unglued from the wooden base. I have never used them, but if you think a product is faulty, contact Tim Holtz on his website and I feel sure he will do something to correct the problem.

You still can order the butterfly stamp from Heindesign.
About the number blocks, I just had to get these after watching the tag video and now I am waiting for the wooden alphabet blocks as well. I think they are designed to create 3D mixed media art. But I like the idea to use them as stamps. To improve the print you can add a cushioned layer under your paper like you might do with these wooden blockprint stamps you can buy for printing on fabric.
As already someone mentioned these would be great to use with gelli printing, to stamp the backside of vellum paper or just as an unusual stamp to add texture rather then printing a „pretty“ number. I own a stamp set by Tim Holtz that is called Reflexions which has 3 different scripts all backwards and these would go well with the blocks.

The letter press blocks arrived today and the wood they are made off is better for stamping then the wood on the number blocks. I already stamped all over a big sheet of „sandwich paper“ ( Butterbrotpapier) and it looks great on both sides, either subtle but facing right or more colorful but with mirrow impressions.

Those stamp blocks are probably cheaper versions of his wooden print blocks. They print backwards, too. It does look really cheap, which is disappointing for a Tim Holtz product. If you want to keep using them as stamps, perhaps you could gesso over the wood part, which would help ink stick better. Or even just sand the wood part so that it isn't shiny, which makes the ink bead up.
