To those saying "yes he can fight" consider the idea that English is not his native language and when he says he cannot fight he may mean mentally he can't fight in a war, not logistically or physically. Also those suggesting that he is a coward or in some way should be ashamed that he has not gone to fight in a war and potentially die are absolutely disgraceful. We can't know what we would do in his shoes or, for that matter, anyone else faced with this tragedy, so please be humane and understand that there is no "correct" choice, everyone makes their "own" choice.

It's so tough. I would imagine people like him in Ukraine, sports figures, have to feel a sense of keeping an international presence. Every part of a countries population can help in a war effort differently, it's not always just bodies on the front line. Maybe they would be good on the front lines, or maybe in the intelligence gather group, or in the artillery group a few km's back. War is a dynamic thing. If Roman's job is this is to be a badass "football" (its soccer) player, where he can reach people worldwide, it might be worth it. This war will take all of us.
