Is the normal selfie camera really "putting it behind" other brands? Seeing how bad the quality of under display cameras is, I think most people will gladly live with a small hole in the screen if it means that they actually have a selfie camera and not just a pretty much useless webcam put in a phone :D
You're assuming most people use their phones the same way that you do. Samsung don't often do things for the sake of it these days. They have the data on how the majority of their consumers use their cameras
I suppose it purely depends on usage. UDC works just fine for low quality video calling. If you take selfie photos then you'd probably want a regular hole-punch
They should release a Bigger Note for people like me. A proper overkill, two handed device. 8 Inch screen. Bigger Battery. Powerful Stereo speakers. Headphone Jack. Dual Sim. Micro SD etc.
Me who absolutely loves the Green and Burgundy colors and loves the camera array even more than the S21 series and significantly more than the God awful aesthetic of the S20 Ultra lol
Also RIP headphone jack, LED notification light, proximity sensor, iris scanner, SpO2/heartrate sensor, audio zoom, 3D ToF sensor, pressure sensitive home button and included charger.
S22 Ultra looks great, but I still have yet to find good enough reasons to upgrade from my note9, which is still performing fine other than a 3-4hr SOT battery, which is not a huge issue for me most of the time.

There is ALOT of reason upgrading from the Note 9... Of you had a Note 10+ like me than maybe wait 1 year. But I atleast have Android 12 and up to two more years of security updates.

It's quite an upgrade from our Note 10+ dude... And with the same amount of storage on a S22 Ultra that you got on the Note 10+ it has 12GB RAM anyway. So yeah.. But we just got Android 12 on Note 10 series so no need to rush. But I will consider gettinf the Ultra and just use my Note 10+ as a secondery device

Since it has other options there is no issue and no reason for your argument. And yeah.. I also conplained about SD cards before I got 512GB on my Note 10+.. I never even used the SD card.. Charger is kinda stupid but I bet you have several at home anyway... And I also recomend NOT using the fastest charging unless you really need it. It brings more strain on the battery the faster you charge it.

For 1200 dollars a charger needs to come in the box. So if someone is buying it for the first time and that person never used an android device that means they have no compatible chargers for it. They need to put a charger in the box. It's about the principle.
I have galaxy notes since the note 5,not gonna change it, is the best phone for me, lots of note users are in love with the device and it's features, Samsung makes a great product in this case imo.

Yeah there is a lot of Samsung users who need to upgrade from a phone that used to be good and have a lot of features and don't know what to buy for it not to feel like a downgrade. Offering 128GB on the Ultra was stupid. It should have a base storage at 256GB and 12-16GB RAM (Even my Note 10+ has 12GB so) for the price of the 128GB model.
when i saw the mighty Note 9 in the beginning,my hype for the note 22 was shattered 😲. that was the last true note IMO . every thing was thrown in it,in one complete package.
I think the S10 5g was the best Galaxy phone, had a 3.5 mm jack, had expandable storage, had WQHD+ Display had up to 1 TB storage, seeing the refresh rate I don't think it should make a huge difference, my S10 5g is still with me due to this reason.
what i love about the s22 ultra is that it's basically a sony xperia xz1, it even has a classy camera bump, now if battery life is as good as my mate 10 pro i'll jump on it

Personally the camera design looks awesome to me. The best I've seen since the LG G6 or Galaxy S10/ Note 10 Who wants a big block hanging out the back of the phone. I know I don't. I would have preferred if they made all of the lenses flush tho. I mean the S21 made the bump pretty but I still prefer a flush or barely noticeable camera bump.
Pre-ordered the burgundy and can't wait. I LOVE the square look and feel of the Note, and so glad to see this design coming back this year. I've had my Note 10+ since launch and for me it's time to retire it. I don't use wired headphones or an SD card in my phone, so neither of those features are deal breakers for me at all. I have 25 and 45 watt chargers all over my house already, so not having one in the box doesn't affect me, either. You have to do what's best for you and your budget. This device may not be suitable for you, but there are a ton of people really excited about it.
@@19rebelpriest My note 8 still performs like a beast. I just can't justify $1200 for a phone. Hell, I'm still trying to shake the idea that all you had to do 10 years ago was sign a 2 year contract and/or pay $200 TOPS.

I still think the Note 20 Ultra is the best lineup, there is really no need to upgrade. More or less you get 10% more upgrade. What happened to Samsung innovating. When JK Chin was CEO of the mobile sector. He would jaw dropping designs. Every year its the same design.

This is the one time I'm not tempted by the latest and "greatest" from Samsung. To think that just a short while ago, I'd have been bitching about the camera bump...but aesthetically, I much prefer my Phantom Brown S21 Ultra with the carbon fiber on the back than this drab offering. Specs-wise, nothing wows me enough to want an upgrade. I also have the S-Pen; granted, it's not built in, but it's a good tool to have should I need it. I'll probably just replace the battery once it's needed and hold on to it as long as I can.

@KingInTheNorth You're very much right. It's just companies being greedy. They won't give us expandable storage if they can make us pay 100$ for 112GB more. Unless we force them too. Apple did end up bringing back ports to the Macbook pro. Everyone loves it.

The cameras wont bother me. I use a slim case for better typing, as the bezels on the device are just too thin for me. My only complaint……. I WANT A FLAT SCREEN!!! Typing on my iPhone is so much better, but I always pick up the S21U.
At least wait until we see the in depth review, but my first thought is that my Galaxy S10+ can easily last a while longer. Especially since I just got the upgrade to OneUI 4 and Android 12.
@@TheChefComic I don't think you'll get the software upgrade, the S9 is four generations back and until the S22 is think the limit was three generations until you fell out of the update cycle. As to hardware upgrade I still think it's wise to see in depth reviews first. That way you have more information to decide what is the right choice for you. If your phone has served you well for four years it will likely do so for a few more weeks.
My first Note was the last Note and I'm still using it. Glad to see that even though the Note line may no longer have new iterations, the S22 Ultra will succeed it with the S Pen sheath and power it has with its specs. I'm not gonna upgrade for probably a couple more years, but it's looks like a solid and reliable device.

The S22 Ultra is litteraly a itteration of the Note series so.. It wil have many itterations going forward. Litteraly only thing that gas changed is the name.

I just love how Samsung straight up steal the perfect product design from Xperia to these phones, with this retangular with round lenses shape. I love it so much (currently with one XA1 Plus slowly dying in my hands) that I hope I can get one of these asap

Hahaha!! You are new to phones or what? The boxy design has excisted as long as cellphones... But had a sort of pause in the early 2000s with alot of funky designs. Nobody stole any vox design from Sony😅 If anything Sony "stole it" from others that went back to using it way before Sony did... And this EXACT specific boxy design is the same as on the Note 10 and the Note 20 series. And also very sinular to the Note 9, Note 8, Note 7, Note 5, Note 4 and Note 3.. but those had larger borders around the screen of course. And the Sony phones litteraly look different to. I have spotted a difference on a Galaxy Note and a Xperia some meters away a few times already.

It's laughable that they can be bold enough to call a phone _"Ultra"_ when the screen still has a hole in it, the speakers are still lopsided, there isn't any removable storage, it still isn't IP65/68, no headphone socket, the lack of a decent fingerprint sensor and the fact it doesn't even have a 4K ultrawide screen. _In 2022._ And they can boast about their camera all they like, but if it doesn't come with a dedicated shutter button on the phone then what's the point? To be _Ultra_ is to stand out. To be above your peers. The only thing that's standing out right now are the several coats of varnish they've slathered on this antique S10+.

This is a nice and needed return to the Note but the pricing makes it hard to swallow considering we are now in foldable phone range. Still, I love the Note phones. We shall see where it goes.
I know that the When Phones Were Fun series is about phones, but I think it'd be cool to see a review of something from the Casio SF series of digital diary. Believe it or not, but the simple idea of a digital diary that, somehow, got me into the dumbphone world. Edit: why not make a series about more than just phones from the past? I still have my Galaxy Note 9 (never getting rid of that) & a Note 20 Ultra. I'm trading in my 20 Ultra for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung's official website had extra colors (Red, Sky Blue & Graphite Gray (which sold out pretty quick)). I was able to pre-order a Red one, thank goodness!
I've owned a Note, Note 2, Note 4 and Note FE over the years and while I really like the series I've decided to try not having as many features I never use. I'm happy to see the "Note" return in case I decide that I do want to return to the "fold" from the fold.

Note 9 was the last great Samsung phone. No notch, SD card (although I never used it) headphone jack and good sensors. Besides the shortcomings of the S21 I think the S21 ultra is the best upgrade after Note 9

Heard you and some other TH-camrs/Content Creators making negative comments about the more minimalistic design of the camera array. I find it surprising. To me this new design is way better than the previous ones for Note and S20 series. In regards to wobbling, compare it against previous models. It seems to be doing better as well.

Is the normal selfie camera really "putting it behind" other brands? Seeing how bad the quality of under display cameras is, I think most people will gladly live with a small hole in the screen if it means that they actually have a selfie camera and not just a pretty much useless webcam put in a phone :D
You're assuming most people use their phones the same way that you do. Samsung don't often do things for the sake of it these days. They have the data on how the majority of their consumers use their cameras

@Sky Gardener Technically the hidden hole punch option has been removed, but it should be able to be restored with Good Lock.
They should release a Bigger Note for people like me. A proper overkill, two handed device. 8 Inch screen. Bigger Battery. Powerful Stereo speakers. Headphone Jack. Dual Sim. Micro SD etc.

It's quite an upgrade from our Note 10+ dude... And with the same amount of storage on a S22 Ultra that you got on the Note 10+ it has 12GB RAM anyway. So yeah..
But we just got Android 12 on Note 10 series so no need to rush. But I will consider gettinf the Ultra and just use my Note 10+ as a secondery device

Yeah.. Why would you buy an Ultra with just 128GB? Since it has other options there is no issue and no reason for your argument. And yeah.. I also conplained about SD cards before I got 512GB on my Note 10+.. I never even used the SD card.. Charger is kinda stupid but I bet you have several at home anyway... And I also recomend NOT using the fastest charging unless you really need it. It brings more strain on the battery the faster you charge it.

For 1200 dollars a charger needs to come in the box. So if someone is buying it for the first time and that person never used an android device that means they have no compatible chargers for it. They need to put a charger in the box. It's about the principle.
I have galaxy notes since the note 5,not gonna change it, is the best phone for me, lots of note users are in love with the device and it's features, Samsung makes a great product in this case imo.

Offering 128GB on the Ultra was stupid. It should have a base storage at 256GB and 12-16GB RAM (Even my Note 10+ has 12GB so) for the price of the 128GB model.

I think the S10 5g was the best Galaxy phone, had a 3.5 mm jack, had expandable storage, had WQHD+ Display had up to 1 TB storage, seeing the refresh rate I don't think it should make a huge difference, my S10 5g is still with me due to this reason.

Personally the camera design looks awesome to me. The best I've seen since the LG G6 or Galaxy S10/ Note 10 Who wants a big block hanging out the back of the phone. I know I don't. I would have preferred if they made all of the lenses flush tho. I mean the S21 made the bump pretty but I still prefer a flush or barely noticeable camera bump.

Pre-ordered the burgundy and can't wait. I LOVE the square look and feel of the Note, and so glad to see this design coming back this year. I've had my Note 10+ since launch and for me it's time to retire it. I don't use wired headphones or an SD card in my phone, so neither of those features are deal breakers for me at all. I have 25 and 45 watt chargers all over my house already, so not having one in the box doesn't affect me, either. You have to do what's best for you and your budget. This device may not be suitable for you, but there are a ton of people really excited about it.
Still with my Note 8 and I see no reason to upgrade as of yet. Maybe it's just me, but this phone is still very much capable in 2022.

This is the one time I'm not tempted by the latest and "greatest" from Samsung. To think that just a short while ago, I'd have been bitching about the camera bump...but aesthetically, I much prefer my Phantom Brown S21 Ultra with the carbon fiber on the back than this drab offering. Specs-wise, nothing wows me enough to want an upgrade. I also have the S-Pen; granted, it's not built in, but it's a good tool to have should I need it. I'll probably just replace the battery once it's needed and hold on to it as long as I can.

The cameras wont bother me. I use a slim case for better typing, as the bezels on the device are just too thin for me. My only complaint……. I WANT A FLAT SCREEN!!! Typing on my iPhone is so much better, but I always pick up the S21U.

@@TheChefComic I don't think you'll get the software upgrade, the S9 is four generations back and until the S22 is think the limit was three generations until you fell out of the update cycle.
As to hardware upgrade I still think it's wise to see in depth reviews first. That way you have more information to decide what is the right choice for you. If your phone has served you well for four years it will likely do so for a few more weeks.

My first Note was the last Note and I'm still using it. Glad to see that even though the Note line may no longer have new iterations, the S22 Ultra will succeed it with the S Pen sheath and power it has with its specs. You say most of the time the Note camera lag behind the S Series and that's not true the note series usually corrected what the S Series had wrong with the camera earlier in the year for example the note 20 Ultra which is what I'm rocking currently while waiting on this phone to pre-order corrected and capitalized on just about everything that was wrong with the s20

I just love how Samsung straight up steal the perfect product design from Xperia to these phones, with this retangular with round lenses shape. I love it so much (currently with one XA1 Plus slowly dying in my hands) that I hope I can get one of these asap

@@privacyhelp I'm not talking about overall boxy shape, I'm talking about THIS SPECIFIC boxy shape. Really, just Google both S22 Ultra and XA1/XA1 plus, they are basically the exact same thing (with more circles on Samsung's model)
Hahaha!! You are new to phones or what? The boxy design has excisted as long as cellphones... But had a sort of pause in the early 2000s with alot of funky designs.
Nobody stole any vox design from Sony😅 If anything Sony "stole it" from others that went back to using it way before Sony did...
And this EXACT specific boxy design is the same as on the Note 10 and the Note 20 series. And also very sinular to the Note 9, Note 8, Note 7, Note 5, Note 4 and Note 3.. but those had larger borders around the screen of course.
And the Sony phones litteraly look different to. I have spotted a difference on a Galaxy Note and a Xperia some meters away a few times already.
Even the matte back with reflective logo are the same, but Samsung put their a little lower
@@Oystein87 how hard is for you guys to Google some pictures? I know this language aways exists, as I said I love it. I'm talking about this specific design being like the same as the competitor. Not just "the same visual language" but literally the same, this is like an "XA2" by Samsung (and again, I loved it)

It's laughable that they can be bold enough to call a phone _"Ultra"_ when the screen still has a hole in it, the speakers are still lopsided, there isn't any removable storage, it still isn't IP65/68, no headphone socket, the lack of a decent fingerprint sensor and the fact it doesn't even have a 4K ultrawide screen. _In 2022._
And they can boast about their camera all they like, but if it doesn't come with a dedicated shutter button on the phone then what's the point?
To be _Ultra_ is to stand out. To be above your peers. The only thing that's standing out right now are the several coats of varnish they've slathered on this antique S10+.

This is a nice and needed return to the Note but the pricing makes it hard to swallow considering we are now in foldable phone range. Still, I love the Note phones. We shall see where it goes.
Current Z fold 3 user, I will wait for the next fold. Although it is nice to see the Note live on.

I know that the When Phones Were Fun series is about phones, but I think it'd be cool to see a review of something from the Casio SF series of digital diary. Believe it or not, but the simple idea of a digital diary that, somehow, got me into the dumbphone world.
Edit: why not make a series about more than just phones from the past? You could include tech accessories, gadgets and so much more!
Long live the swiss army knife of phones with all the features we came to love...sadly they have all been taken away & turned in to a plain jane s22 with a S pen.At least we still have the Spen until they take that away

I still have my Galaxy Note 9 (never getting rid of that) & a Note 20 Ultra. I'm trading in my 20 Ultra for the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Samsung's official website had extra colors (Red, Sky Blue & Graphite Gray (which sold out pretty quick)). I was able to pre-order a Red one, thank goodness!

I just wish I knew this was coming before I bought the 21 Ultra last fall. Been a Note user upgrading every other year since the Note 3.
I've owned a Note, Note 2, Note 4 and Note FE over the years and while I really like the series I've decided to try not having as many features I never use. I'm happy to see the "Note" return in case I decide that I do want to return to the "fold" from the fold.

the battery bump with pen inside is very nice
Note 9 was the last great Samsung phone. No notch, SD card (although I never used it) headphone jack and good sensors. Besides the shortcomings of the S21 I think the S21 ultra is the best upgrade after Note 9
You know we need your videos like we need air man!!!!😵💫 The 22 Ultra is a little too dull for me especially with the landscape shaping up... Im gonna wait until the end of the year... This is too underwhelming!😩

Heard you and some other TH-camrs/Content Creators making negative comments about the more minimalistic design of the camera array. I find it surprising. To me this new design is way better than the previous ones for Note and S20 series. In regards to wobbling, compare it against previous models. It seems to be doing better as well.
