Daughters of the Dust is one of my favorite movies. I went to movies several times and brought several people along with me. The hair, traditions and food were so beautiful. There were a lot of real issues in the movie, yet film maker Julie Dash handled the story with such art, cinematography and grace. When I first heard of cottage core, I was like this reminds me of Daughters of the Dust. Thank you for mentioning it. I was surprised. Hats off to you. It is so affirming to see ourselves in stories on screen. I absolutely love that Afro textured hair is celebrated in the film, which I don't normally see in chocolate women in cottage core. I still think the clothes and aesthetic is lovely. I would love to see Afro hair more represented in Cottage Core. I've been enjoying your videos after market today. I just watched The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society and it's sooo lovely and cottage core. I highly recommend and it's now one of my favorite movies (a little cheesy but perfect for when you're in the right mood, ya know?)! It's worth it literally just for the scenery alone.

I just got done watching a movie called Little Forest and I immediately thought of this video. It’s a Korean movie about a girl who is struggling in the big city so she goes home to her very small village in the countryside. She actually lives in a tiny cottage. It has a lot of beautiful shots of the countryside and cooking montages. It’s a very realistic and modern depiction of cottage life but the warmth and wholesomeness that the aesthetic encompasses is what the movie is all about so I think you guys will like it.

That moment when you realize that you are into an aesthetic that’s a thing but didn’t know...my whole house looks like grandmas house from the 40s 🤪 Ps: nothing wrong with white people. The cottage look has a lot of roots from Europe! That’s okay be comfortable with the color of your skin!...don’t be disgusted by your own kind. I’m so tired of it being trendy to hate anything white Plus I’m Mexican and my culture is wonderful but we also bear a dark past! And still dealing with other humanitarian issues that I’m not proud of 🤷🏻♀️

I think its important to recognize our privilege as white / white-passing individuals and recognize that not everyone has the same benefits of seeing people who look like themselves in "aesthetic" communities :)

And I tend to enjoy erotic/romantic dynamics but the women still gain or maintain a powerful growth or presence. That being said all of these, on this list aren't all happy circumstances. They do carry some elements, scenes and other qualities, that have cottagecore feels. I've thought of more that I may add here later, if you'd like. lovely list and you have a lovely channel, but i feel compelled to say: the moral of tuck everlasting is that winnie decides she doesn't want to be a child forever but to grow up and live her life - it would *literally* fall apart if the form of immortality the tucks have is not one of remaining mentally and emotionally the same age. i think critiquing these stories is good but that's a critique that goes against the whole point of the story.

Probably the reason "cottage core" like things are predominantly shown caucasian or the reason many of these movies will be featuring white people is because they are stories/books that were written a long time ago by white europeans, and is because this style comes from old European culture/styles from victorian to Edwardian 1920s etc. Its culturally European based, its ok that white people have culture, all people from around the world have clothing music language etc that originates from somewhere. I understand where you're coming from when you say this and its awesome to have everyone be included in admiring something like cottage core! love all the movies you mentioned, I loved this beautiful fantastic! I love the feeling of Anne with an E and Anne of Green Gables (the 80s version), sometimes If you have a hard time finding movies you'd be surprised, if its based off of a book sometimes your library will have it on DVD!
