    As a black female who is mid to plus size and an inverted triangle shape, I truly appreciate you encouraging us to get into cottage Core with no fear. This style is so me, and I'm here for it.
    Edit: I'm doing it and it's such a cute look. I'm doing it my way with darker colors like a Dark Mori kind of thing. It's working for me and I highly recommend everyone do it.

    goodwill has been raising their prices cause they caught on to depop resellers which is super sad for people who need a cheaper alternative to buying clothes like myself:/ so that's probably why the skirt was pricey:(

    • @erina6319

      goodwill has days where certain color tags are 50 percent off, and they also sometimes do a sale when you can get a paper bag full of clothes for a few dollars

      @garbagedayy2705 4 ปีที่แล้ว +164

    • @oziku1816

      Depop resellers are scums of earth. They take the only way people who dont have a lot of money can still find good quality and good looking pieces for less. But no they have to ruin it for their own profit.

    • @cecilyerker
      @cecilyerker 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      Stop crying and go to Goodwill Outlet or only go to main Goodwill stores on 75% off days. The stores charge what they charge, nobody is holding a gun to your head to make you buy it full price. Depop resellers are making it so you can buy the item online and have it shipped to your home, and to do that they have to invest considerable time and labor so they can make their money back plus a small profit so they can feed themselves and not be homeless. It’s how many people support themselves in an unstable job market.

    I'm between a size US 18-20 and I've been into "cottagecore" style for a long time now. It feels like just now it got a name. It's really nice to see someone who's aware that there's very little representation in these "aesthetics," but that it should be for all no matter what! You're the first person I've seen really address that. Thanks so much :-) Flowers and flowy things are just very sweet and comfy, and anyone should be able to enjoy it!

      @@allisonnicole1659 I shop a lot through depop and poshmark. I also use ebay and etsy-- as for "modern brands", I shop a lot at American Eagle which I can kind of schmooze into this style if I find something. I also really enjoy Madewell and Universal Thread from Target. It takes a lot of time and digging, and it's not the easiest. I struggle with it too. Online seems to work best for me though, and it's especially useful now. For secondhand websites, I honestly just try to use keywords and sort through sizes if possible. I understand the struggle. But be patient-- you can find a lot of fun stuff. I hope this helped to some extent but these are the places I seek out most! :-)

    I rarely spend more than $10 on a thrifted item unless I am /in love/ with it, or looking for something very specific on a time crunch lolol

      German thriftstores are even more expensive and the worst! Like they are selling fast fashion basics like H&M for maybe 3 bucks less than the original price. It's almost impossible to find vintage pieces in thriftstores because they are mostly sold in fancy vintage second hand stores which know what they can demand for it.

    You super nailed cottagecore. The only critique I have is that light colors work great. Like light pinks, blues, yellows, greens, etc, as long as they're pastel. Gingham is also very cottagecore, as well as puffed sleeves and peasant tops. A white peasant top with a long flowy tiered skirt is like a go- to cottagecore outfit

    idk this video makes me really happy. my style is forever changing and it’s really like a combo of like 50/60/80s, your grandma, goth, and like cutesy babydoll styles at times. and as much as i love wearing black, cottage core really appeals to me because it’s usually like pastel and muted. honestly this video is just telling me to mix my already highly mixed style with cottage core pieces as well lol.

    I used to work at a Savers thrift store, and y'all. Switch your price tags if it's too expensive. They do not train employees on looking for things like that, and the employees could care less. All you do is pull the price tag down to cause a slit in the paper, slide it out and replace it with a different tag.

      Zack multiple times I have accidentally ripped the tag off and just handed the cashier the tag with the item, you could EASILY switch the tags with a cheaper price😅

    I love your take on cottagecore! It reminds me of an art teacher whose husband is a farmer & she comes home while he's milking the goats, & she sits by him painting/sketching the scenery around her on their farm or their flower garden & hangs her artwork all around their cottage

    I love this aesthetic! I’m am also constantly going to thrift stores. I have recognized that Savers, and Red Racks Thrift Store specifically, tend to price things way higher than reasonable most of the time. Because of this, I recommend Hillcrest and goodwill. Most items of clothing from Hillcrest range from 1 to 5 dollars. And are the no different considering worn or damaged clothes. Just thought this might help if those are in your area!

    • @haileyincolor
      @haileyincolor  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As someone with a hour glass figure and DD bra size, cottagecore style outfits don’t necessarily suit my body type, because it is characterised by quite billowy and flowy tops, that aren’t a necessarily form-fitted (which flatters a hourglass figure). I love cottagecore style and aesthetic, so I need to find a happy middle between achieving the style and flattering my body shape. Great video! 👍

    • @allisonnicole1659
      @allisonnicole1659 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Me too! I love the style but I tend to wear a mix of flowy stuff and form fitting stuff. I’ll wear a big flowy skirt but then a pale cinched top. Or if a shirt has big sleeves but it’s tight around the stomach (like milkmaid tops) it’s super cute! I’m trying to expand my wardrobe and find more stuff but mixing tops/bottoms that are fitted in different ways are cute or things that aren’t necessarily the “cottagecore” fit but match the color scheme/pattern looks nice.
