Wood turning - I'm Trying a New Type of Experience😳

- A surprising project in which I try out new shapes with new techniques, and the result is interesting because it opens the perspective to new ideas.
To make this piece, I used Jatoba wood, oak and epoxy resin.
I assembled the pieces with cyanoacrylate glue.
This project requires a good knowledge of woodworking tools such as table saws, band saws and wood lathes.
Finishing is done with pure carnauba wax.
It's always in a spirit of sharing that I film part of my work in a calm and relaxing ASMR-type atmosphere, without words or music.
Enjoy your viewing!

Neat idea!
Thanks Doug😉👍
That's beautiful. ❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you Karen👍🌸
Fantastic use of a laser cutter! Very inspiring. I can hardly wait to get to use one myself (whoever has the most toys wins).😊
yes we can do a lot of things with a laser😉
Gorgeous.
Thank you Irene😉👍
The shape and pattern are beautiful! I like the orange side best
Thank you I’m glad you like it 😊
The laser you use is amazing and gives you so much flexibility with complex shapes and forms. The use of cyanoacrylate glue, when it comes to woodwork, is, for me, a cardinal sin. Wood deserves proper wood glue which has much more strength and durability than cyanoacrylate glue (especially if you heat it).
Paul
Indeed this laser is able to cut solid wood with excellent precision, for the cyanoacrylate glue there are different quality, this one is able to resist to very high temperature and has a great mechanical resistance.
What brand of superglue do you use ?@@bawbreizhartwood
Incredibly complex! Beautiful!
Thank you Jean🌸❤️
Wow beautiful..
Thank you so much for your comment Graygrand😉👍
Another amazing piece. I even like the layer lines in it.

Fantastic design. The new technic with the Lazer cuter has endless possibilities. While you were turning that piece, I thought something with a Sunflower type design would look pretty cool.
Thank you for your comment John😉
Yes the laser offers many possibilities ,thanks for the sunflower suggestion 👍.

I often wonder if you know exactly how these pieces will turn out as the end result shows what a brilliant mind you have to plan such beautiful pieces. I'm in awe of your work and it's so mesmerizing to watch the pieces spin as you work on them. Thank you.

Thank u so much for trying to go back to your original longer versions!! It’s golden
Marc
Thank you for your comment,😉👍
I'm glad you prefer the longer versions, you're right because by shortening the duration we are forced to skip steps.

Hi Jack
Thank you so much 😉👍
B-AW-mazing!😊

Beautiful piece of wood 🥰🥰
Masi
thank you so much 😉
How extremely beautiful! My first thought was fire and ice when you were pouring the resin in. 😊❤ Do you ever do anything with just Clear resin? I think it would be neat to see the pieces just floating around. Absolutely wonderful, this is so soothing and mesmerizing to watch!😊❤
Racheal
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 🌸❤️❤️

Excellente pièce ! Bravo !
Salutations de Dinard 😊
Merci beaucoup amis Breton 😉👍

Clever use of a laser cutter. Combining CNC with hand manipulation does open up some possibilities.
Thanks Gary👍
It's exactly that😉
As you were adding the two different colored resins I was silently screaming “No, no just use one color!” I would like to formally apologize for ever questioning you. I should know better that your artistic vision supersedes anything I could ever imagine! This piece is absolutely beautiful! ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much for your comment I’m very glad you like it 😊❤️
beatiful
Thank you so much for your comment 😉👍
Nice looking small bowl Morgan. I like the process using the X-Tool to cut out the pieces but with the burn marks it makes the lines stand out between the segments but all in all it is a nice looking dish. John
Thanks for your comment John 😉
You're right, I'll do this experiment again with invisible joints😊
Very nice!!!
thank you so much 😉
Watching you work is riveting, what you do, and what you create is nothing less than miraculous...you bless all of us with your creations...but even More by allowing us to participate visually.
Thank you so much Virginia❤️
I'm very happy that you appreciate my work🌸
Wonderful!
Thank you so much 😊
Good day sir. I suspected that your laser cutter was going to add another dimension to your creativity. Congratulations on another terrific design and implementation. I agree with Rachael Smith 5138 that using clear resin would make the elements appear to float in space. Clear, translucent and dyed each offer unique dimensions.
Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace sir.
Catgynt❤️
thank you very much for your comment 😉
Yes the laser can offer many possibilities and I have other ideas.
Thanks also to you and to Racheal for the suggestion of transparent resin, I'll think about it 👍
Excellent❤
@raghbirsingh6192 Thank you so much ❤️
Great job
Thank you Paul😉
Très beau travail comme d’habitude .félicitations
Daniel
Merci beaucoup 😊
Very nice
Thank you 😊
Troppo facile, con il laser !!! 🙂
☺️
Absolutely weird , but as always, a sight to behold. Good Onya
Thank you John 😉
Really nicely done piece! I need more reasons to purchase a laser cutter to enhance my bowl turning. Thanks for helping…..I think?
Thank you Dtork😉
In fact there are many reasons to acquire a laser because it is an evolution in the workshop because it allows you to do projects otherwise unfeasible.
Really nice, you certainly are putting the lazer to good use, and taking advantage of the possibilities! Did you make a ‘reverse’ piece with the leftover cutouts? ;-)
Thank you Alan😉
Yes indeed the laser opens new horizons for more complex creations. I also actually made another bowl with the other remaining pieces which gave me reversed colors👍
Nice job. What brand of laser cutter was that and how much trouble was it to learn.
George
This laser is an xtool P2 and runs on co2 , which effectively requires a learning curve that can vary in length depending on what you want to do with it.
@@bawbreizhartwood thanks I have no idea about that stuff , 66 years old probably not happening
Lindo!
Marlene ❤️
Thank you so much for your comment 🌸

😊
Great job! Which tool to buy next - laser, CNC or 3D printer…..
Thanks Steven😉there's already a lot you can do with a laser
👍🏻😀
😉🌸
Yoicks! What a lot of work you put into this very very beautiful piece. It would drive me nuts with all that small work (but I am an abstract painter so naturally). What is that little yellow piece of stuff you used at the last that made the piece so shiny?
Hi Suzi
Thank you very much for your comment ❤️
I love abstract paintings👍
To make the piece shine at the end I used a piece of pure😉 carnauba wax.
Another gorgeous piece, Morgan! ✅
Not a scratch to be seen!
What grit do you sand to before the abrasive paste?
Clayton
Thank you very much 😉I sand with 1000 paper then I use two different pastes..one of 2000 and one of 3000
Its gorgeous. Absolutely love it. Was that beeswax you used at the end to polish it? Just guessing :)
Thank you very much Lucille 🌸
no it was carnauba wax😉
@@bawbreizhartwood Oh ok thanks for the info :)
I love watching your videos and seeing the wonderful pieces you create.
I do have a question tho, and I’m NOT looking to start debate, but truly trying to learn…..as I watch you use CA glue, I notice there are usually areas of the pieces that don’t have any CA on them. Having little experience with CA and only using traditional wood glue where you must make sure the entire surface has a nice, even coat, do you run into issues because the CA doesn’t comoetely cover the wood, OR is it liquid enough, that as you press them together, it spreads and we just can’t see it in the video?
Again, this isn’t a criticism, nor do I want debates from folks, just asking to hear the creator’s experience. Thanks again for all of your videos!
Thank you for your comment 😉 yes, cyanoacrylate glue is liquid enough to spread and penetrate the wood.
Thnx!
😁👍🏻👍🏻
😊
Intriguing piece and process...a narration/subtitles would have enhanced the Video for the Uninitiated!...dgp/uk
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work 😊
Hi Morgan, I love the idea and the effect but I'm not keen on the glue lines to be honest.
yes it's an experiment to try again with invisible glue joints😉
@@bawbreizhartwood Great, look forward to seeing the next installment 😀
Is there a practical limit on the thickness of wood that you can cut with the laser?
Tamara
yes it depends on the power of the laser and the type of wood.
with this one the xtool p2 I can cut 18 mm of solid wood
Very nice
thank you very much I’m very happy that you appreciate my work
