Your horse appears to be the happy athlete most of us are striving for and your friendly and balanced riding is a true inspiration to become a better rider. Thank you for this great tutorial.

Check your stirrup length, check your saddle fit. Your saddle and stirrups should be making it easier if it's not an issue with your body. My ankles have very limited movement, my knees , hips and back are pretty compromised too so it's kinda easier for me without stirrups. If I didn't have those issues, my shock absorbers would function better so it would be easier with stirrups

What muscles are you using in the sitting trot? You mention not using the gluts.. but what are you using?

I’m not a physio so I probably can’t explain this in huge technical detail. I use the muscles in my pelvic and lower body. I think of pushing my internal layers of core muscles out and down while keeping my outer layers of core toned. I stabilise by working the tone between these two layers. Mentally I visualise keeping my pelvis wide, level and down. I do a lot of work balancing up in a kneeling position on a gymball.

How do you stabilize your lower leg ? I tried relaxing but my legs started moving back and forward. I always have a problem keeping my lower leg stable while sitting the trot. Also thank you very much for your informative video it is really helpful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Hi! Thank you so much. I really struggled with that as well, for ages. First of all, make sure your saddle fits in balance, if it is even a little bit up or down in front that can make your leg swing. Secondly, relax your knee and ride without stirrups so you learn how to not brace your heels down but let them fall down nicely. Don't give up, you'll get there x
