This sounds like the Logic file for What About Me. Basically what he heard before performing it live on the video we all saw. The DVD said he had less than 2 hours rehearsal. My goodness what a beast
I'm pretty sure this is a demo that his tutor from Humber College (Mark Kelso. Also a great drummer, check him out too 😅) made for him during for clinics. He explains it in his drumeo vid of this song
He defiently improvises this song A Lot! Which is super cool! Not afraid to show creativity. He plays the root parts and sections of the song but really improvises a lot over it. Such a beast.
I feel like he is such a good musician he is making me a better listener. Discovered him recently and he does such deeply rich stuff I couldn't even process half of what he's doing. He's made me upgrade...my own understanding.
For me personally, nothing has topped that original solo, just because of the fact that he only had a few hours to learn the whole album and thats authentically what felt good to him jamming it with the band for the first time. Dude is a monster.
People should realize playing like this doesn't come with pure practice... This guy's been drumming his ALL life, plus, has a raw, pure talent. He is gifted with this, I mean, you have to be born with this. Thanks for this video, Christian Holm..!
No I can't cope watching this more than once. Otherwise I don't want to play drums myself anymore. LOL It's too freaking good and made me realise how limited my own playing is.
gracious - thankfully no one was killed in the making of this video! Lightning bolts for hands! Love watching Sput & Eric Moore... & Larnell brings his own righteous, heavy vibe... love these incredible drummers in this era!
I was just checking out a young Japanese drummer named Senri Kawaguchi whom everyone in the video was proclaiming her the best drummer in the world right now. It was so cringeworthy because when you look at guys like Larnel and Weckle you see there obviously many levels above. It’s not always about who’s better but drummers should always be learning and adding to their game.
the backing track sounds like a crappy midi file i know that will probably offend some people but i love snarky puppy and i wonder wheither he could've used the normal song and just mute the drums
Well its possible that's the original track, Michael League usually uses Logic (the program) to write music, where he just plays all the bands parts and they learn it from there, so it is possible he just had access to those files from when he played that session.
My man improvisation , melatical view of dynamics is whats hes about Well furnished tecnician give props when props are in view . Magnificent Rudimental Artist .
Interesting, I was never sure about that double snare section at the 1:55 mark and the other Snarky drummers plays it different and now Larnell completely skipped it, wonder why.
Hey Kenneth. I'm using the Canon Powershot g7x, sadly the stabilization was off then I recorded this video. You can check my other video with Sput, where the stabilization is on.
😊😊😊😊😊larnell lewis is awesome to watch play drums
In my opinion Larnell Lewis is already in the exclusive group of best drummers ever!
Those who know...
these kids in the audience are just playing around, they dont realise they are witnessing one of the best drummers :p
I found it disrespectful
Its a drum clinic, they probably realise
If you were that young you probably wouldn't realize the amount of skill involved
so true, they have no clue about the incredible level of skill and difficulty they are witnessing.
This sounds like the Logic file for What About Me. Basically what he heard before performing it live on the video we all saw. The DVD said he had less than 2 hours rehearsal. My goodness what a beast
Is this true? Then it just proves Larnell is a literal genius.
I'm pretty sure this is a demo that his tutor from Humber College (Mark Kelso. Also a great drummer, check him out too 😅) made for him during for clinics. He explains it in his drumeo vid of this song
This guy isn't human!
Really amazing drummer!
E.T. performance!
He defiently improvises this song A Lot! Which is super cool! Not afraid to show creativity. He plays the root parts and sections of the song but really improvises a lot over it. Such a beast.
He has come so far in the last few years! Congrats to my #1 student!❤
Larnell..man, so much energy...just awesome..and that chop at
:51 is mind blowing.
Absolutely unreal.. Larnell is so musical, tight and entertaining at the same time!
I feel like he is such a good musician he is making me a better listener. Discovered him recently and he does such deeply rich stuff I couldn't even process half of what he's doing. He's made me upgrade...my own understanding.
Makes me so happy that Larnell is out here doing this, so no one else has to worry about being this good.
One of the greatest drummer of all time. We are so lucky to live in the same period!
I generally feel like this solo's better than the one on the official record...
That’s Larnell power..... 🔥
For me personally, nothing has topped that original solo, just because of the fact that he only had a few hours to learn the whole album and thats authentically what felt good to him jamming it with the band for the first time. Dude is a monster.
to be fair thats the beauty of this mans playing you wont hear the same thing twice
His timing is INSANE.
People should realize playing like this doesn't come with pure practice... This guy's been drumming his ALL life, plus, has a raw, pure talent. He is gifted with this, I mean, you have to be born with this. Thanks for this video, Christian Holm..!

There are few things less satisfying as a musician than playing to a room of uninterested kids, hahaha. God bless Larnell

Does ANYONE recognize the crash on his left side next to the A custom efx ? I can't figure it out. Thanks for the upload, amazing video.
I was at the clinic, he told us that it is a Zildjian K prototype.
Thanks man !

Like when you're at the office and you hear this and you get up and start clapping at the freaking solo
Ong he went crazy in a mater of seconds
Behind the back floor tom sweep, LOL! Which model recording custom snare is that. Larnell and Sputt are the truth.
FIIIIIIRRRRRRE!
The only one giving Larnell Lewis competition in what they do in Canada is KAWHI LEONARD LMBO
So good!!!! Anyone know if the backing track is available anywhere??
Lewis vc é muito bom

I think it is a midi file of What About Me, rather than the actual track without the drums
Eric Bailey where can I find this track without the drums?
Michael League compose in midi files and send to the musicians to practice
What you're hearing is the room mix and not a pro board mix that both
the drums and backing track has been mixed and balanced through.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply the footage looks great man. I will check the other video's out soon. Thanks for posting great material.
Your mom does :)
This kinda reminds me of how much the Mario Kart soundtrack slaps.
Seriously asking. Does Larnell have two other arms that we don't see?
I want this backing track!!!!
I was just wondering wether this guy ever played in Europe, then I see this :P
whatsup!!
What did I just witness?!?
