I saw Snarky Puppy on the We Like It Here tour, and Mike League told the story of this take... Mike League counted in the song too fast, and in his words, instead of "doing what a normal person would do" and gradually adjusting the tempo, Larnell took it as a challenge and held the band to that tempo for the whole tune, only to cap it off with this... absolutely intense, intimidating, mind boggling solo. So when Larnell stands up and stares down Mike League at the end, it's a playful little "mission accomplished".
@@abhi22if you try to sync the audio with a click it doesn’t fit perfectly because the musicians fluctuate a little bit meaning there’s no click. which is crazy lol
@@kannonprice3521 Yeah no if you listen to the first one and the and official recording, they rush the first one like ***CRAAAAAAAAZY*** They are COOKING it. I honestly kind of which they kept that tempo lmao
First take is so fast holy nuts
As if the song isn't HARD enough. Larnell is simply beyond this world.

Larnell taking the faster tempo as a challenge is the most badass thing ive heard in a while.
Outrageously good! his playing is not part of this world.

Whoa.
Pack it up people. All drummers are out of business
When Shaun Martin went over to tip Larnell, that was a move that as a professional, is one of the highest honors! haha
The fact that Cory kept the pattern going perfectly at 4:10 is insane
they probably have clicks in their headphones

I think Lanell is actually playing a straight beat there.. which sounds weird over the melody.. ie snares lands on the 3.
Larnell is a beast

How many nights and takes did they do?? I always thought they recorded in 1 day and 1 take
Yes.
One night. One take.
And Larnell Lewis, the drummer, learned all these songs last minute.
