I still hate how Mordecai made the speech at MUSCLE MAN's wedding all about himself. Who the hell breaks up with their partner in the middle of a friend's wedding, in front of a crowd?
navel gazing fart huffers with blinders on I've been to that wedding. Wasn't in a best man speech but there was a proposal on the dance floor, so gd rude.
Forgot to comment, Mordecai relationships suck but Rigby and Eileen subverted a lot of negative stereorypes about that type of dynamic : guy doesn't like girl back , who constantly clings onto him but then guy realizes she´s always been there and suddenly likes her, that´s not what happened, they had geuine natural growth
Thank you for saying this! I don't know if it's just me that gets annoyed by this kind of concept, because i watch miraculous ladybug, (I also seen something like this from naruto as well) but it just gives me bad vibes. Idk
Rigby and Eileen are clearly one of the best animated couples. To the point to where I’d take a show exploring how they function with their family in the future lol
Exactly rigby can actually take his shot but mordicai always takes his shot and miss miserably or sometimes not even take his shot at all when he’s got the chance
Is it weird that I kinda loved Muscle Man and Starla’s relationship? I don’t know what it was but something about them *LITERALLY* fucking every second they’re together put me at ease.
I think it's because they are that couple that is so damn rock solid that when you see them it gives you hope in the idea that everyone has someone even if you don't believe it yourself
I've been having a similar conversation with my siblings. Heck the first episode I watched was when Starla wanted to impress her parents by eating at the fancy restaurant. Much as I like Eileen, Starla is my girl! Muscle Man and Starla will always be my favorite ship in this show!
honestly the cute relationships between muscle man and starla + rigby and eileen show that will-they-won’t-they and love triangles suck lol. cute couples for the win!
I think that was 100% intentional tbh. They tried to misdirect us with Mordecai, Benson, even Skips and High Fives’ romantic pursuits, but in the end it’s Rigby who falls in true love.
I think Mordecai’s journey is supposed to represent the psychological theory of the Three Loves. The theory that you fall in love three times in your life: 1) Your first love. Idealistic, rosy, and short-lived. Margaret. 2) Your second love. One that hurts and teaches you many lessons about yourself and the way you love, though it will be very toxic in the end. CJ. 3) Your third love. The love that sneaks up on you when you least expect it and lasts for life. Mordecai’s bat wife who comes out of nowhere in the finale.
I really didn’t like how cj’s story ended. People keep telling me it’s “realistic” of whatever but it bring realistic doesn’t make it satisfying imo. Mordecai out of nowhere interrupts Muscle Man’s wedding because he’s not happy with his relationship with CJ even though they didn’t have any problems prior to this so it comes out of left field and we don’t see her again besides a cameo. I don’t care if they got back together or not but none of that is resolved. And Mordecai just ends up with some random chick by the end but how can I buy that when he barley got through his relationship issues with CJ and Margaret? Just feels cheap.
I agree. Realism isn't always a good thing in stories. It still needs some pay off. We don't really consume fiction for the realism affect. We do it for scapism. Realism is great in a few cases, but not all of time
They did CJ dirty and could have handled Margaret better but I liked what they did at the end. I just wish they made the CJ break up better with Mordecai putting his foot down with the help of Rigby and they ending it. He would then have that will they won't they thing with Margaret again but make it so they actually hang out in the end.
Why a very good portion of mordicais character was about his relationships with cj and Margaret. And then he ends up with some random girl who doesn't get a name or even a single line. Plus cj was such a good match for him
I actually like that Mordecai didn’t end up with Margaret. Sometimes even the best relationships don’t end up working out in the end. Mordecai is actually a good warning example for young adults
6:03 The thing with Marco is that it actually feels like he goes through the reverse of what Margret goes through. He actually starts out with his own agendas in the first few seasons (his crush with Jackie, his karate stuff with his rival Jeremy and his Sensei, his former guy friends, he was a straight-A student etc) all while playing up the platonic relationship he had with Star. However this drastically changes in Season 3 where he moves to Mewni with Star to be her bodyguard and essentially abandons everything he had on Earth, including his family. THIS is where Marco shifted to becoming solely a source of romantic conflict and drama with Star with him having next to no meaningful personal ambitions beyond being with Star. It had gotten to a point where his family had gotten him a NEW SISTER and we barely get to see her beyond a few episodes because Marco isn't on Earth anymore! Because he has prioritized his feelings with Star over everything else about him. So yeah the reverse Margret where he went from a person of his own agenda to basically becoming a satellite love interest for Star until the very end.
you couldn't be more right, Marco basically became the shonen anime girl who's only aspiration and dreams are related to her crush, not to mention her love affairs that went nowhere.
This made me remember Marco Live where they made Marco into an avatar and answered questions from people. I don't think they even continued that after Season 2.
I don't think it's unreasonable for CJ to continue having issues with Margaret long after the kiss. That is an incident that realistically should have ended the relationship; it's miraculous she stayed past that point. I think that behind her default of generally being a composed individual, her doubts to the validity of the relationship grew in her mind. Regardless of what Mordecai was actually trying to say at the wedding, the fact that he basically showed how hard it is for him to decide if he is happy with CJ was justifiably the last straw for her.
I realy dont like cj because she came up out of nowhere wheter you like or hate margaret it does not matter she was a main chracter from the beginnig of show and then cj came up as a foreigner as a intruder who who took place of one of our main characters. thats why I always dislike cj
Shoutout to your line about not always finding the love of your life in your 20s. It's something comforting to hear because society does seem to push finding a great relationship between high school and somewhere in your 20s. Which honestly always scared me and made me feel like I was doing something wrong since I haven't found that special someone yet. Just wanted to say hearing that its okay not to have a romantic partner yet... well it helps take away some of the fear that I am doing something wrong. So, thank you!
Honestly, the best advice I can give you about stuff like that (because my mom told me this is well. although im not in a relationship yet either 😂) Make sure *your* life is together *first* before sharing that life with someone else.
Yeah, this haunts me so much every now and then, both my brothers got married before they were 24 and got themselves a family, now my parents are pushing me so hard to follow their steps and I can't seem to do it, i just turned 24 this year and it made me feel so bad that I'm still looking for someone, dated a guy, he left me, dated a girl, she left me, dated another guy, it went to shit again, at this point I decided I will stay single until I figure out what is wrong with me because I know I am the problem here. Edit: accidentally posted the message earlier lol
@@roo2385 Hey man, I wouldn't put all the blame solely on yourself. I think it's great that you're doing some introspection, but maybe also think about the kind of people you were dating before? And expand what your looking for. I wish you good luck!
This! I feel like society pushes you to get married or find the one early in your life. Only to put you down if you divorce them. I told my mom I never saw myself getting married in my 20s. And I'm glad I didn't, now I'm in my thirties. I am so thankful I didn't married the guy I thought was the one. Our relationship ended so badly
I always considered Mordecai didn't kill Rigby 'because' he dated Margaret, but rather, that was his last drop wanting to deal with him, since Rigby only did it to spite Morde. Early Rigby was genuinely so insufferable it made Bloo look good, and - actual murder aside - Mordecai finally retaliating was kinda justified, specially after we find out what Rigby did to Mordecai's college letter.
Yeah I think people forgot that rigby really was insufferable at the start, was the one to cause problems, the one to screw up a lot, and even when told how bad the screw up would be still did it. Thankfully this did change and rigby did become better, unfortunately at the price of making mordecai worst with his relationships, and before anyone asks yes I’m salty about mordecai and CJ breaking up and Margaret returning.
No one deserved each other but Eileen and Rigby. These two are an example of how to evolve OG characters without ruining who they once were and making them a completely different person that we might end up hating. We all even knew these two would end up together, and did it without destroying any previous relationships. ( *Ahem* Star )
Exactly, Rigby and Eileen do get along and they do understand each other. Rigby doesn’t try to complicate things because he wants to get straight to the point
Here’s my ranking of RS ships Rigby x Eileen Mitch x Starla H5G x Celia Skips x Mona Also, I got the idea that Rigby and Eileen are the model equivalents of Skips x Mona. Rigby’s jerkish slacker attitude vs Skips’s fight happy, too cool for school, wanderlust old personality. Then they met the one girl, the one person that they want to better themselves, not just for her, but for themselves as well.
According to the creator, CJ was supposed to roll her eyes and walk off when Mordecai (and the rest of the park) got shot into space - and I honestly don't blame her. But the executives shot that down and made her have a concerned face
For once, I’m glad they did, too, ‘cuz if they’d allowed having CJ scoffing off, it wouldn’t have been good, and she wouldn’t have been that favorable.
Realistically, even if partners had a bad breakup, when something really wrong is happening in their life, the other partner will at least show some type of concern. I prefer the concerned reaction she has instead
Even if CJ didn’t care about Mordecai anymore, that doesn’t mean that she probably isn’t still friends with the rest of the guys at the park. Plus imagine seeing a place you spent a lot of time at just up and fly into space one day. What will happen next? Is there some space or world attack this time? It’s a lot more realistic she was concerned really.
This video helped me realize that rigby has literally died FIVE TIMES The playco arm boy, clock microwave, the eggsellent challenge, eaten by the snow monster, and his future self was shot by future Mordecai in the movie
Mordecai accidentally kills Rigby Rigby fakes Mordecai’s denial letter to college when he was actually excepted, made him take a park job, and waste his life into his early thirties.
@@conniespringer7169 the way I see it Mordecai murdering Rigby makes them even. They've both done some shitty things to one another and shouldn't be friends.
@@miss_chelles1338 he’s a reoccurring character and from skips’ backstory, first seen in Skips vs technology, he’s a technomancer cyborg dude who probably fought in the revolutionary war He’s fun
By the end of the show I didn't even care who Mordecai ended up with. I kind of just wanted Margeret and CJ to reconcile. Especially since they both got screwed over by Mordecais indecisiveness
I preferred most other relationships than Mordecais. Rigby and Eileen, Benson and Pam, Muscle Man and Starla, HFG and (sorry can’t remember her name) all of them seem perfect for each other, and they end up sticking together. It all seems a lot more fluent, and in a way a lot more wholesome. No screwing up repeatedly, attempted apologies, wasted time on someone you don’t end up with. Skips doesn’t end up with anyone but I thought I should add he is top 5 favorite characters in the show. Since I added Skips I guess I should say RIP Pops.
@@zashgekido5616 EXACTLY. Like I genuinely dont friking care about it, I cringe enough in my own life, I dont want to cringe at some people's from a cartoon life while trying to relax and watch my favorite show.
I love the dichotomy between Mordecai and Rigby. Rigby is immature when it comes to the world, but Mordecai is emotionally immature. They’re both children, just in different ways.
I hate how Margaret more or less ceased at being a character, with what little she had, when she left for college. Hell, her parents were more fun to watch. Also was lame how Mordecai just ends up with some wolf chick we’ve never met.
It’s honestly surprising how much this show got away with, people died almost every other episode, especially moments where Rigby straight up disintegrated on screen in *season 1*
I love how despite being the sane one most of the time, Mordecai always screws up with relations. Meanwhile, Rigby and Muscle Man who tend to be immature, end up getting into healthy relationships
Cloudycai is still my OTP and I was so heartbroken over their break up. I have nothing against Margaret but CJ was a far more interesting and engaging character who had better chemistry with Mordecai then Margret. Like Margret x Mordecai was cute, but for a long time, she didn't have much to her character and I would have been fine with her never returning. While I understand and totally respect why the writers choose to not have Mordecai end up with either but instead someone else, I can't help but still be sad about Cloudycai.
@@1nc0rr1g1bl3 i undestand that sometimes you won't get to have a friendly breakup or a closure with an ex, but they left it all in the air.... At least give us a little context about what happened with them.
I feel like CJ is justified for having that angry personality switch once Margret moved back to town. Mordecai put her through so much crap and gave her so many reasons not to trust him. I feel like the same thing would make sense in real life
Here’s why I love Rigleen so much: Eileen saw through Rigby’s flaws and realized the person he had the potential to be. She knew deep down that Rigby was a caring person, she just needed to help him realize it. With Mordecai out hanging with Margaret or CJ, Rigby was alone, and started to realize that there is someone out there who likes him. Rigby didn’t like to explore his deep feelings, but with Eileen’s persistence, Rigby let her in, and look at how their relationship turned out. Eileen helped him become a much better and motivated person and Rigby helped her become more outgoing. That is a beautiful thing how they complement each other so well and I love everything about their relationship. I can’t say the same for Mordecai with his relationships. While he was doing ok with CJ, once Margaret showed back up, it all went downhill from there. Rigby mastered his relationship while Mordecai did the opposite.
i got it worse, i only watch that bit after got wind that season was released, it was for accident so it ruined the show for me when i have the guard down.
I unirocally enjoyed Mordecai's arc of the women in his life because it felt too, *real* as in it definitely hit close to home. Sometimes a relationship you were destined for, just doesn't work out. Sometimes the girl you're really in love with, just doesn't happen the right way. And sometimes love just smacks you over the head in a moment in life where you least expect it. In sort of a way I completely COMPLETELY went through what Mordacai went through, even paying off the depression and feeling of loneliness to the brief stint of "yeah I'm alright" putting on a front to convince yourself that you're better. Only to grow up and realize, sometimes relationships don't work. I appreciated that Mordi did things that a person would do, we aren't rational all the time, and especially with guys facing their emotions, you have no clue how they will pour out.
Yeah, but it would have been nice to see Mordecai run into CJ one last time. The two could have talked about their futures, and end on at least a positive note.
The show was surprisingly realistic when it came to relationships. Lots of young adults become hopeless romantics in search of a story book ending. When things inevitably don't go as planned from self sabotage to personal issues to simple human nature, the only thing left to do is move on. Doing so may hurt, but it's part of the process of growing up and learning about the world and your place in it.
Cloudycai is definitely an Aesop for relationships. If you're constantly worried your partner is cheating on you, break it off, save your dignity, please. Because CJ wasn't just worried about Margaret being a homewrecker, she was worried that Mordecai was going behind her back and it turned her into a worse character because they quite literally proved they can't be trusted together. Would have loved if CJ smelt the roses and realized that Mordecai is a good friend but ain't boyfriend material. Getting dumped at a wedding is more realistic than getting dumped at a wedding while your bf tries to get back with his ex right after he spent weeks reassuring you he won't cheat on you again, but ain't that exciting to watch.
I really wished CJ and Mordecai continue with their relationship because they had a good thing going on. Yet Margret was intervening a good relationship for Mordecai instead of being a chill friend & respect his boundary just like he done for her plenty of times. Honestly, that type of shit reminds me of my ex who much didn't want their exes happy but only her and she saw that I was actually moving on from her with other chick who was genuinely in it for me but my ex came around just completely confuse my feelings and jeopardizing it
Mordecai had his life more together than Rigby's everywhere... except relationships. Rigby's doing donuts in their golf cart around him in that area. Yes, that is a reference.
Korra and Mako’s dynamic was amazing because after the love triangle was said and done, Korra and Asami just lightheartedly bullied him, and it felt a lot like the writers were, in a way, laughing at themselves and their past mistakes in writing dumb love triangles
@@alandtic4616 Honestly Mako carried Season 2 on his back solo for me. He was the only member of Team Avatar to not actively work for one of the villains that season, and basically did it all while everyone else told him he was wrong.
@@alandtic4616 mako is boring like this man let his brother get kidnapped and doesn’t help him with his toxic relationship with that water lady I forgot her name
He really should have stuck with CJ. They had real chemistry and common interests, but Mordecai just couldn't stop simping for the crush who was clearly out of his league.
For some reason the character cant have that after a shitty dating process, like somehow they essentially find this PERFECT person to GROW with. But they can only essentially do just that: GROW. Only to be tossed to the side as an experience. Which is accurate to real life. But yet you essentially WANT them to make it work cuz ALMIGHTY PEN
I don’t fully agree with the “avatar can’t do romance” thing. I think it mostly works because it never really takes over the plot. It’s just snippets here are there, though they clearly stretch it out because they weren’t willing to let the main couple get together until the very end Korra tried to do romance as the central plot, and it was agonizing.
The Dragon Prince is additionally good example of how to not let romance (This one doesn't wait until the end of the series and instead gets the main couple together midway through the series) overtake the story. Granted, it's from the head writer and an executive director on Avatar, so yeah.
@@thestormtrooperwhocanaim496 they got greenlit for their full intended saga ( 4 more seasons, I believe), but covid’s making season 4 take longer to make
I like how the show started with two goof ball friends with Mordecai being the straight man. Then it slowly changes into it being about Rigby surpassing Mordecai to the point that he goes through a midlife crisis at 25
The best relationship was hands down rigby and eileen, they ended up being a great couple together. Heck, there was one episode where rigby had to sneak into this place for dumped men, so he and eileen staged a fake break up to get him in. Then after that, towards the end, they immediately got back together. It was obvious that eileen liked rigby first, so when he realized it, and they grew into a relationship, he probably thought about all the mistakes mortical did in his relationships so he could avoid them.
Season 1 was the best with Mordecai and Margaret. Things were nice and simple. I ended up vastly preferring CJ, though. Her and Mordecai's relationship was cute until he simply fucked it up. "Realistic writing" or not, Mordecai ended up just being a straight up unlikable loser. I basically quit the show because of how they started writing him.
Which sucks, because Mordecai of before was a really interesting character dynamic: outside of a more-or-less dead end job, he was confident and intelligent and skilled at a lot of things (even if those things were mostly video games) but hadn't figured out how best to approach Margaret and it was his character flaw. Then it all but consumed his character for no reason and made him unlikable to me, which is really sad since he was my favorite character in the beginning. :( I'll always be glad that Rigby got his happy ending, and Mordecai too, but why couldn't they have just had Stef in CJ's place instead so we got to see that development?
@@sleepythemis I don't think it really consumed his character I think it's more that was just the thing people seemed to think about the most the show itself didn't push it as hard though
I actually appreciate the fact that mordecai didn't end up with the ships because it acknowledges something realistic: you don't end up with everyone you try to be with I think most people who grew up watching the show can attest now that people come in and out of your life, and I think its even better that mordecai met his wife when he finally had his life figured out
I don't get why so many people take the microwave scene out of context, Mordecai didn't kill Rigby on purpose he let his emotions get the best of him since Rigby was constantly rubbing his "date" with Margret on Mordecai's face and they were flying on time space on a microwave
My head cannon is that years after the events of the show, Marget and CJ meet each other at a concert, have a one night stand and through coincidence they keep seeing each other and become friends. Sometimes our favorite simp is talked about but outside of that he's just an after thought. Over time they grow feelings for each other and they date, get married, and adopt some kids.
Aw this is cute. Thinking about it now the two of them do seem like they could be a sweet couple. The thought of Margaret supporting CJ at her dodgeball games and CJ getting all excited when she sees her girlfriend on the news are cute ones.
In short, this fucked over CJ, and that suuuuuucks. Even freaking BENSON got a girlfriend. At least Margaret's character didn't get ruined, she actually got her dream job. Heck, this was the main reason why I didn't see the Regular Show movie. Sitll a good show, but...yeah, it's romance plots sucked, especially how last minute Mordecai's girl was...which I think was done for the sake of subversion. It...didn't really work.
Muscle Man and Starla and Rigby and Eileen were the only two best ships of the show. It’s amazing how the two most Immature characters (especially Rigby) of the show got the most character development and had the best relationships.
Margaret was annoying and it’s dumb how she got jealous when Mordecai was hanging out with CJ and she really thought that Mordecai was gonna wait that long when she went off to college like what.
with mordecai killing rigby, i never count it as him killing rigby over margaret. rigby was geniunely insufferable and doing his best to antagonize mordecai out of spite. you can't antagonize someone and then not expect them to react negatively and violently. especially with the added stress of magic danger stuff they go through regularly.
yeah... im more so interested in *HOW* a dynamic like that could work out tho. 😂 honestly hope that someone a comedy skit or something about that. CAN WE PRETEND-
I think the first episode I remember liking Margaret is the one where they go to the abandoned zoo. She was really chill and independent, and it just felt like she wanted to hang out with her friends.
I just gotta say, I've never watched this show and have no idea why I was watching this video but you got me invested. The part at 12:40 genuinely made me laugh when the red bird girl said she was back after you said "what could possibly go wrong" 🤣 gained a subscriber
To me the worst aspects of Mordecai get worse as the series goes on, only for Rigby to be the more mature one despite seeming like a sidekick. Fact is if Regular Show had a main character, it'd be Rigby, making MORDECAI his content sidekick. Edit: Wasnt as clear as I wanted to be, but basically I like that, cuz it gives an interesting arc to Rigby while giving Mordecai an adequate note to end on that ya cant really be mad at haha
Rigby actually had a character arc and a whole season that wasn't about getting the girl. It was about reconciling with his emotionally neglectful father, going back to high-school so he can be a better man not just for eileen, but for himself.
I mean Rigby literally held Mordecai back in his life, so there’s that Realistically it goes like this Rigby dominates Mordecai in relationships with women, the reverse is true for everything else
I liked how Mordecai didn’t end up with either. Shows how he didn’t go back to stupid tendencies and leaving things in the past till he found the right one for him after their growth
When it came to Mordecai and his relationships, Rigby was all of our voices in the show. We couldn't tell Mordecai how lame he was being but Rigby could. And muscle man felt like my spirit animal lol
3:47 Glad someone brought that up, because what is in the Bro Code is that, "You don't go after your bro's crush," something Rigby broke and deserves a punishment for it
I remember a story my aunt told me. While working at IBM, she met this really awesome smart guy who out of shape. They got interested in each other and started going out. He was able to keep up with my cousin talking about comic books and other stuff and She kept him in shape because she can’t cook. One day they broke up for reasons I still don’t know. But when my cousin found out, he got pissed and looked at her and said, “Oh my god. What did you do?!?” I felt that way the second I found out Mordecai fucked it up with Cj.
Bro that one episode in omniverse with the game show was trash and then we had alien force with Julie and it was adorable but nah Ben went back to Ben as a jerk but only the jerk and it felt like such a forced wedge for no reason
@@huntercorrales6794 honestly the only ship that worked long term in that franchise was Gwen and Kevin, and even then in retrospect it's not the healthiest of relationships because of Kevin having tendencies to become an insane, homicidal freak of nature amalgamation of alien DNA, but aside from that it's still at least to me the better ship of that franchise. Also regarding Ben, there is the fact that he cheated on her several times when he thought they were on a break.
To me it felt like the show was aiming for a realistic approach, with the ex partners. i.e at least with my ex, we tried to remain friends, and it has been years since we stopped talking to each other, pretty much after leaving college she was out of the picture. Same with another girl I talked to, but nothing really happened in college. We texted a bit after graduation, but eventually she was completely out of the picture. I see the complaint with how story-wise that doesn't pay off as well, but it does portray what's likely to happen in the real world.
Ironically, Rigby was way better that Mordecai in that department, and the funny thing is that Rigby doesn't deserve Eileen. Meanwhile, Cartoon Network Africa still hasn't shown the last episode while rerunning the show till death. They also omitted some season finales.
The thing I appreciated about Rigby and Eileen was that in a way, Rigby knew he didn't deserve her, but that motivated him to be better. He went back to graduate highschool, he went made efforts to invest himself in Eileen's interests and the whole way she was supportive of his change in character. Which is what good relationships do, they help you be better.
The show's romance arc got really unbearable once it got into the love triangle. It really wasn't needed. Should've just let Mordecai be with CJ and friends with Margaret, but of course, drama's what brings the ratings. It's even worse that by the end, it was ultimately meaningless. Mordecai gets with someone else later in life and, as far as we know, he loses touch with both Margaret and CJ. The least they could've done was let us know CJ had a happy life after Mordecai. She definitely deserved it.
The same thing would happen if he was just friends with Margaret. Trust me, those things are not forgotten and even "friendship" stirs things up between people who used to have a thing. I was in CJs position and it destroyed me mentally, especially since they are together now.
As much as I hate love triangles and relationship conflict, this is the one show I think should get a pass for making it an integral part of a plot. Unlike other shows that throw it in add forced tension or "will-they-won't-they" scenarios, I think the writers tied this aspect into the show's theme pretty well. There were parts that felt like torture to sit through, sure. Mistakes that could have avoided. And a lot of secondhand embarrassment (We're not even going to talk about the mess Mordecai made at Muscle Man's wedding.). But that's the thing. Relationships can be messy. The core theme of this show is that despite being an adult, sometimes life can be tough to figure out. It's not the freedom everyone makes it out to be. And it's far from perfect. Sometimes, you're not going to get the first person you fall in love with. It might take experience and learning from mistakes to enter a relationship you're truly ready for. I think this show did a great job at portraying relationships and how different they can be for everyone: Mordecai's wasn't perfect, but it worked out in the end because he grew from his mistakes. Rigby became a whole new person for the better thanks to his relationship. Despite being a messy guy, Muscle Man had the strongest love any person could have for their partner. Benson had a rollercoaster of relationships, but there was still hope for him despite how stuck and rock-bottom he felt. Skips never ended up with anyone else in the future, but his past partner being dead does not change how much he still loves and remembers her. Even High Five Ghost and his relationship with Celia explores the aspect that long-distance relationships can work. Pops never has any focus with romantic relationships, but that's not where his character focus is needed. He was the embodiment of the love he shared with his friends and the world he lived in. It's not every day a cartoon can explore this many themes and that's why I love Regular Show for what it is.
Reads the title: FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT!!! But for real, I was cheering for Margaret to be end game. I get why they didn't got together, but the finale did felt a bit cheap for me... I did want some closure over the whole "will them won't them" If the whole drama lasted for like 2 seasons, I wouldn't fell so mad. But it was literally the whole show
I'm still positive that, in the two seasons that Disney greenlit, Milo Murphy's Law has handled the Milo/Amanda ship very well, without any unnecessary drama like love triangles. Here we have a Milo, a disaster magnet, that is revealed to have a crush on Amanda, a perfectionist, on its eighth episode. Amanda politely tries to avoid as much of Milo as possible due to Murphy's Law making everything worse. But in three episodes about them, spread over time, she learned that Milo can actually fix and prevent what Murphy's Law would cause, and that Milo can even make other things better than they first were. By the end of "Cake 'Splosion", she has already fallen in love with him (something that "School Dance" has been hinting at), and in "Managing Murphy's Law", Amanda is dead set in accomplishing her goal to get the benefit concert going in spite of Murphy's Law constantly getting in the way (a stark contrast of how she feels about Milo in "Party of Peril" and "Smooth Opera-tor"), on top of telling Milo in the end that they're "just getting started" (a double meaning, considering the band name), as she kisses him on the cheek. After that, she gets jealous when another girl was seemingly having a moment with Milo in "Spy Little Sister", is excited about Milo being nominated for a school award while getting worried about his absence and catching him from a fall to then hand him over the award herself in "Ride Along Little Doggie", and overall hanging out with Milo a bit more without any worry about Murphy's Law. Had Season 3 been greenlit as well, we would've seen Milo and Amanda on their first date, too, and potentially kiss on the lips and make it official. No stupid drama concerning dumb love triangles that lead to lackluster resolutions. Just a healthy dose of character and relationship developments.
Everyone but the blue bird had ships that were actually fun and satisfying. Oh Frick you, I completely forgot about that meme and I actually searched it up lmao. I was like "...what is that? I don't remember any character in regular show that makes this combination " then I realized half way through my Google search loading
What this show taught us, is not all relationships are great and end well. They wanted Morticai's relationships to end in the way REAL relationships end. A lot of of people rail on shows and movies where there isn't a resolution to relationships, and love triangles. But in real life, not all relationships HAVE endings at all. Two people (or more) part ways, and that's it. And even if they do resolve, it's not always in a satisfactory manner. This is real life relationships, not TV show relationships. The characters involved are imperfect and not great. They didn't write Regular Show to be TV friendly, they wrote it to seem real and relatable to the people watching it. What this show taught me is exactly this: "Not every relationship has to have a perfect ending, but people want every relationship (even TV and movie ones) to have perfect endings." That ain't life folks.

People are mentioning that Rigby and Eileen is best ship, and others are commenting there reminding them of MuscleMan and Starla. MuscleCouple is not a ship guys. It is an immutable canon that was never in doubt. Thus it does not count here.
To be honest, I was more interested in Rigby and Eileen's relationship and Muscle Man and Starla's relationship than either of Mordecai's relationships. I was a teenager at the time! 😅
Remember the turtle episode where Eileen was sad because she couldn’t hang out with both Margaret and CJ at once? Once CJ left the show, Eileen didn’t seem to mind at all and was totally cool with being with just Mordecai, Rigby and Margaret.
One of my favorite jokes in the show is when Mordecai ask. Cj to hang out but butt text her or something, and then he gets help from skips, muscle man, h5g, thomas, and rigby. Skips is like "so you pulled a mordeaci huh?" 🤣🤣 Idk why just thinking of an immortal person making fun of someone for something like that makes me laugh so hard 🤣
I always found it incredibly weird that Margaret’s excuse for not being Mordecai’s boyfriend was that she went to college. As if they’re unable to keep in touch via phone or literally any other method of long distance communication
If you wanna talk about the king of relationship failure in this show, you gotta talk about Benson, that dude wishes he could make a relationship drag like Mordecai does.

Very similar to Close Enough, the creator's new series.
I think Mordecai’s journey is supposed to represent the psychological theory of the Three Loves. The theory that you fall in love three times in your life:
1) Your first love.
I can see that theory fitting well with the birdman's journey being that.
Rigby: Screw the rules, i have Eileen!
That's actually a really good way of describing it!
@@superhydra8873 but i never left.

Realism is great in a few cases, but not all of time
I like how it was realistic. He didn't deserve Margort and CJ is awful. It was the best possible outcome. In life, you have to grow up and move on.
@@icecreamhero2375 Aw hell nah Margort got the janky hitbox
Why a very good portion of mordicais character was about his relationships with cj and Margaret. And then he ends up with some random girl who doesn't get a name or even a single line. Plus cj was such a good match for him
Growing is realising that Rigby is the overall more mature character out of him and Mordecai.
Man went from doing better, graduating to getting a gf flawlessly.
Which all started with him preventing Mordecai from going to his dream college.
Rigby pre Eileen was DEF not more mature than mordecai
When it comes with romantic relationships, at least.

This is perfectly put
Very well put.
Couldn't agree more, which is why I only like Star and Marco as friends. Their dynamic works best that way.
you couldn't be more right, Marco basically became the shonen anime girl who's only aspiration and dreams are related to her crush, not to mention her love affairs that went nowhere.
It’s kinda implied that she’s had shitty boyfriends before too
definitely agree on the last part

Shoutout to your line about not always finding the love of your life in your 20s. Which honestly always scared me and made me feel like I was doing something wrong since I haven't found that special someone yet. Just wanted to say hearing that its okay not to have a romantic partner yet... well it helps take away some of the fear that I am doing something wrong. So, thank you!

And I'm glad I didn't, now I'm in my thirties. I am so thankful I didn't married the guy I thought was the one. Our relationship ended so badly
I’m happy that there are more people talking about this
I always considered Mordecai didn't kill Rigby 'because' he dated Margaret, but rather, that was his last drop wanting to deal with him, since Rigby only did it to spite Morde.
Ah Bloo. Remember how early on in the show he actually WAS a good friend to Mac?

No one deserved each other but Eileen and Rigby. These two are an example of how to evolve OG characters without ruining who they once were and making them a completely different person that we might end up hating. We all even knew these two would end up together, and did it without destroying any previous relationships. ( *Ahem* Star )
The reason why Eileen and Rigby hit it off because both of them can understand each other, even if sometimes they argue (It's normal to argue).
Exactly, Rigby and Eileen do get along and they do understand each other. Rigby doesn’t try to complicate things because he wants to get straight to the point
The best of all is that even the author thinks the same xd. Eileen and rigby were perfect for each other.
Here’s my ranking of RS ships
Rigby x Eileen
Mitch x Starla
H5G x Celia
Skips x Mona
Also, I got the idea that Rigby and Eileen are the model equivalents of Skips x Mona.
For once, I’m glad they did, too, ‘cuz if they’d allowed having CJ scoffing off, it wouldn’t have been good, and she wouldn’t have been that favorable.
glad they did tbh but kinda sad of a view to me idky
Realistically, even if partners had a bad breakup, when something really wrong is happening in their life, the other partner will at least show some type of concern. I prefer the concerned reaction she has instead
Even if CJ didn’t care about Mordecai anymore, that doesn’t mean that she probably isn’t still friends with the rest of the guys at the park. Plus imagine seeing a place you spent a lot of time at just up and fly into space one day. What will happen next? Is there some space or world attack this time? It’s a lot more realistic she was concerned really.

While I understand and totally respect why the writers choose to not have Mordecai end up with either but instead someone else, I can't help but still be sad about Cloudycai.

The relationship ended on a sour note for me. I'll never get behind why the two broke up.

Fr, and their break-up was so messed up in my opinion
Now, who would you rather cross pair him with, aside from, you know...?
I feel like CJ is justified for having that angry personality switch once Margret moved back to town. Mordecai put her through so much crap and gave her so many reasons not to trust him. I feel like the same thing would make sense in real life
Here’s why I love Rigleen so much:
Eileen saw through Rigby’s flaws and realized the person he had the potential to be.
I legit stopped watching after Mordecai Fucked up his relationship with CJ

@@1nc0rr1g1bl3 honestly the space arc that led up to the finale is the only part I’d rewatch atp
@@jr03160 How can you end on a positive note with a cheater? I think it's logical that they never talk after the breakup.
Also good job for being a poc op. Way to go. Cheaters disgust me
The show was surprisingly realistic when it came to relationships.
Ya know CJ gives me MAJOR Flame Princess Energy. I feel like they would get along because there personalities not there physical traits

@@xs0528 Finn really did goofed up with Flame princess but makes no sense why they didn't stay together
Rigby and Eileen was the mvp relationship.
Mordecai had his life more together than Rigby's everywhere... except relationships. Rigby's doing donuts in their golf cart around him in that area.
Yes, that is a reference.
Donuts so good they've got 0 turning radius
tbf rigby's character progression is overlooked bc he continues trying to be the jester, he gets wayy better than morde about half way through
Korra and Mako’s dynamic was amazing because after the love triangle was said and done, Korra and Asami just lightheartedly bullied him, and it felt a lot like the writers were, in a way, laughing at themselves and their past mistakes in writing dumb love triangles
You can have your thoughts but for me mako and kora was so boring since mako is just boring zuko to me
@@alandtic4616 Honestly Mako carried Season 2 on his back solo for me. He was the only member of Team Avatar to not actively work for one of the villains that season, and basically did it all while everyone else told him he was wrong.
@Stick yeah matter of fact the new team avatar is kinda blah 😑
@@alandtic4616 mako is boring like this man let his brother get kidnapped and doesn’t help him with his toxic relationship with that water lady I forgot her name
@Stick She had a few good scenes and her and varic in s2 where fun but man bolin and korra carried both mako and asami
It’s just snippets here are there, though they clearly stretch it out because they weren’t willing to let the main couple get together until the very end
Korra tried to do romance as the central plot, and it was agonizing.
Yeah, I was a little confused by that part 😵💫
While they definitely had a writing romance problem. Avatar definitely had a more satisfying love story and conclusion
The Dragon Prince is additionally good example of how to not let romance (This one doesn't wait until the end of the series and instead gets the main couple together midway through the series) overtake the story. Granted, it's from the head writer and an executive director on Avatar, so yeah.

@@sleepythemis Well said.
@@sleepythemis
I don't think it really consumed his character I think it's more that was just the thing people seemed to think about the most the show itself didn't push it as hard though
facts! Mordeicai was always my favourite but the writers kept piling on him for no reason
The only thing about CJ was she always had anger and jealousy problems, which is technically cuz of her dad, but she was still cool.
id say thats great. i mean its bad because its a negative thing to do but its what makes a character real
Muscle Man / Starla and Rigby / Eileen are peak characters willing to do anything they can for each other, even vastly improving themselves.
I actually appreciate the fact that mordecai didn't end up with the ships because it acknowledges something realistic: you don't end up with everyone you try to be with
I think most people who grew up watching the show can attest now that people come in and out of your life, and I think its even better that mordecai met his wife when he finally had his life figured out
The fact that you said the fact that shows the fact that you didn’t really need to say the fact that
I don't get why so many people take the microwave scene out of context, Mordecai didn't kill Rigby on purpose he let his emotions get the best of him since Rigby was constantly rubbing his "date" with Margret on Mordecai's face and they were flying on time space on a microwave
RIGHT.
Saying I will kill you does put a certain eye on the scene
@@acat6145 Yeah but do you really think Mordecai was thinking rationally when he said that
Doesn't make it that much better.
You're... really justifying a guy murdering his best friend over a girl?
My head cannon is that years after the events of the show, Marget and CJ meet each other at a concert, have a one night stand and through coincidence they keep seeing each other and become friends. Sometimes our favorite simp is talked about but outside of that he's just an after thought. Over time they grow feelings for each other and they date, get married, and adopt some kids.
a well-deserved gay closure :)
Remember Folks: If you can't fix it, make it gay 😌
Now that's something I can get behind of
@@serbal469 Oof the Mako treatment
Well then you really should see the Regular Show movie, it has nothing to do with romance at all.
I kinda understand why people ship mordecai with twilight sparkles
Yeah weird but still
Could you explain to me why? I'm still trying to understand the ship myself.

Straight up laughing cause of that. I wanted him to include the "YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I SACRIFICED?!" part but I feel like that's more appropriate.
Rigby and Eileen were tight. Find yourself someone like Eileen.
I mean Rigby literally held Mordecai back in his life, so there’s that
Realistically it goes like this
Rigby dominates Mordecai in relationships with women, the reverse is true for everything else
The real ship was Muscle Man and Starla

Glad someone brought that up, because what is in the Bro Code is that, "You don't go after your bro's crush," something Rigby broke and deserves a punishment for it
I remember a story my aunt told me. What did you do?!?”
I felt that way the second I found out Mordecai fucked it up with Cj.
You want an absolute Dumpster fire of shipping, look no further than Ben 10 as a Franchise.
I didn't even care about them till you mentioned it. Yeah it's certainly interesting...
Was there that much ships in Ben 10 like don't get me wrong the end ship with Ben and Kai was handled terribly but aside from that
That show had ships lol?
I like how this cartoon shows that the “will they won’t they” crap is just lame now lol naturally built relationships are way more satisfying.
I think the creators said he kept in touch with Margaret, but not CJ.
I did want some closure over the whole "will them won't them"
If the whole drama lasted for like 2 seasons, I wouldn't fell so mad.
Milo Murphy’s Law isn’t ended or canceled, it’s just on hiatus.
Everyone but the blue bird had ships that were actually fun and satisfying. Rigby literally spent a season becoming a better person for Ileana and muscle man god a fun relationship that evolved into a marriage and him finally getting a new joke, the bird got two ships that turned two cool girls into entities that I began to dread seen on screen

I totally agree with this! I found their depiction of breakups to be very human!
5:16 I could never stand the horrible mixed messages with Princess Bubblegum and Finn! That was a horrible mess that went no where! Good luck with that trainwreak Marzie!
The scene at Muscle Man's wedding has to be the most painful scene in the series
People are mentioning that Rigby and Eileen is best ship, and others are commenting there reminding them of MuscleMan and Starla.
MuscleCouple is not a ship guys. It is an immutable canon that was never in doubt. Thus it does not count here.
True indeed
To be honest, I was more interested in Rigby and Eileen's relationship and Muscle Man and Starla's relationship than either of Mordecai's relationships. I was a teenager at the time! 😅
Remember the turtle episode where Eileen was sad because she couldn’t hang out with both Margaret and CJ at once? Once CJ left the show, Eileen didn’t seem to mind at all and was totally cool with being with just Mordecai, Rigby and Margaret.
Yeah, would have liked to see Margaret and Eileen's friendship be strained because of CJ leaving
16:35 we need to talk about how muscle man handled that like a champ.
The worst crime is cj’s wasted potential, after she left mordecai she fizzled out and mordecai ended up with a random girl in the final
I always found it incredibly weird that Margaret’s excuse for not being Mordecai’s boyfriend was that she went to college. As if they’re unable to keep in touch via phone or literally any other method of long distance communication
Watching Morde screw his own life up by overthinking is what caused me to address my OCD and get it sorted. So he did something right I guess.
If you wanna talk about the king of relationship failure in this show, you gotta talk about Benson, that dude wishes he could make a relationship drag like Mordecai does.
