i love your videos, i want to make a VR game just to satisfy myself with it and you give me hope. I am not as young and I dont have alot of time in the day but the way you talk about your experiences makes it feel doable.
Oh hey, I think this made something click in my head about games! It's not about, like orchestrating the entire game. It's about coming up with characters and interactions that follow rules, and then putting those interactions together in interesting ways. Just like a board game or something. Thanks!
That's really awesome that you made this! Keep working on it! Here's a free idea... what if your're a ghost trying to escape a "haunted house" while ghost hunters are trying to catch you. Also because you're a ghost you can't actually influence anything yourself except when you charge up an ability you can shake a clock or knock a cup off the counter to change the hunters patrol pattern. You can posses/ control the hunters as a super ability but if you make them act weird or suspicious then the other hunters will wake him up. Finally the only way to escape the house is to get a ghost hunter to let you out.
I feel the same way bro. I have been working on so many different projects VR and non VR over the past few years and have not finished one. Good to know I'm not alone. Good luck, this is our year to finish a great project!
Hello! I just discovered your channel, I LOVE it! I'm a fellow developer. Once I get a Quest 2, I intend to try VR development (again, because I tried it before but found it was quite a mess at the moment). For your motivation issues, my best advice (not just for VR) is: make a plan before doing anything else :) . If you know what you want to do, you'll be able to fix objectives. Make a roadmap, so you can make a list of bulletpoints, and check each of those points one at a time.
This is actually an amazing idea for a VR game that would solve the problem of movement in VR (most people get terribly motion sick when using joystick controls). Take your time, give it a crap load of polish and I'll gladly but it.
This is awesome! Reminds me a lot of my Resident Evil prototype I started this year where you controlled the movement and arms of a 3rd person character. It's a really fun way to play, but I got blocked by not knowing enough C#. Look forward to playing the demo!
I was just watching "what a second person game look like" as most of us only know first person and third person. this I think a prime example of Second-person game. so cool.
I have an idea for your game. Add buttons that can set off traps to get rid of guards in level that have multiple guards. Also you should add "evil ghost" . Evil ghost would try to mess you up threw out a level.
Man, I completely relate to your struggles. I've made HUNDREDS of Unity3D test scenes testing out different scripts, but I've never actually gone ahead and finished a project. Normally it gets to level design and I think, "This is taking too much time, I'll just try something else" and never come back to it
I'm actively trying to get a VR setup now that I have a computer that more than meets the requirements. [scalpers are making this difficult, but I'll manage] This game idea looks like it would be a lot of fun, you should incorporate a level designer into the completed game be the next mario maker. :D
I've enjoyead each second of this video! I loved the game that is all dark with the guards looking for you with the flashlight, sublime. Keep it up! One more thing, as I think I've seen, you are developing for a Quest, how can you debug with controllers in Unity like in 4:07? I'm mad looking for a way like this to debug!
Valem, can you please make a video going more in-depth of how to make a separate character model follow the players moves 1:51 ? what are the mechanics of it?
would you recommend getting the oculus quest or the rift s for game dev, the hand tracking seems cool. love your vids btw. Thanks for making such high quality videos!
Depends if you plan to develop for the quest, oculus link is working rather well with the quest (apart from a few issues here and there). If you have only the budget for one, I would recommend the quest as you can develop for pc and the mobile platform.
Oh guys I forgot the most important !!! What should I name this game do you have any ideas ?
Valem
Maybe “Possession of Will” because it took will-power to stay motivated, and the game is about possessing guards haha
Abracatabra
"On Guard"!
Ghost watch
@@jasperhanak4943 Ghost Watch is a really good name :D
"It was not the time that I needed, but self-discipline." I haven't heard such a true statement in a while.
I have no idea about game development, but I'm going to try to make one with your help! I have a basic and fun idea!
Update bro?
Update?
Update please?
Your title is wrong, you probably meant "What I learned making 7 VR games in a day"
Ahah I love it :D
Holy crap he did it
XD
What was before?
and we've been having same issues of finishing a project....
"Self Discipline" is needed... true words of a true master...
Brother, this game looks so great, great concept, definitely keep going!
I love how when he said "improving my skills" its a brackeys video he gets us
I just loooove seeing more of you like this 😍 So impressed with your creativity and your work! I really missed you these past few weeks.

This is a pretty cool idea

I feel the same way bro. I have been working on so many different projects VR and non VR over the past few years and have not finished one. Good to know I'm not alone. Good luck, this is our year to finish a great project!

yesss, I LOVE lists and roadmaps. Great advice!
a cool game idea is one where you have to transfer bodies to get to certain objectives and can create unique combat
Great work,
Best way to use your time while Quarantine.
As soon as you said "a ghost that is trapped" I instantly wanted to play it.. great idea.

Cool stuff. Keep working!
So cool!
I can see some epic puzzle game coming from this. Looking forward to follow your journey.
Dude that’s awesome! Well done dude😀
I really liked your creation! Very impressed you could do that in a week!
This is awesome! Reminds me a lot of my Resident Evil prototype I started this year where you controlled the movement and arms of a 3rd person character. It's a really fun way to play, but I got blocked by not knowing enough C#. Look forward to playing the demo!
Keep up the good work bro, its sooo cool!
It is like Moss
Motivation comes from doing things when you don't feel like it.
Excellente leçon pour le développement de projets en general ! :) GG !
I was just watching "what a second person game look like" as most of us only know first person and third person.
this I think a prime example of Second-person game. so cool.
Woow so weird, just happen the same for me, just yesterday stumble for the first time about "second-person", and now this :O
@GolRougue D yeah when you see yourself in someone else’s eyes
Great video Valem! Thanks for sharing all the great info. This video was very informative and fun to watch.
Very well done!! Appreciate the inspiration. Ill def play the demo.
Nice job!
Now that's persistence, very impressed, great work sir!
Wow this is going awesome, you deserve a sub bro 😍
And keep it up !
The game definitely looks like something with potential given enough polishing
This game looks so fun
the concept of the game is so cool
Very interesting concept. I hope one day soon I'll enjoy your creation ! Good video, thanks!
You should also add hit boxes for the guards so you can beat up the gaurd with a differennt gaurd
This is so inspirational! Thank you for investing your life into this :)
I have an idea for your game.
Add buttons that can set off traps to get rid of guards in level that have multiple guards.

This Is Sick. C'est un bon concept.
Un tout grand bravo à toi! Très inspirant! continue tes tutos, c'est super chouette :)
Nice work man! lets get him to 50k

This game idea was genius! Great work
i like the idea of posesing others to controll

Super cool! Your work is a great inspiration!
Great little heist game! Well done mate. Love the accent too :)
I'm actively trying to get a VR setup now that I have a computer that more than meets the requirements. [scalpers are making this difficult, but I'll manage] This game idea looks like it would be a lot of fun, you should incorporate a level designer into the completed game be the next mario maker. :D
This is such a cool idea, I wanna see more of this game
very good job man! respect
this game looks great, amazing concept tbh
Fantastic stuff. Slowly building my courage to explore VR development! :)
You got this man ! :D
Juste merci tu m'as juste sauvé plein de fois pour setup la vr.
Thats the thing with VR everything has been made in some form. You have to really think out of the box the come up with something unique.
I finished and published a vr game on steam all alone. And I did it chronically sick too. 26,000 lines in 7 months.
I've enjoyead each second of this video! I loved the game that is all dark with the guards looking for you with the flashlight, sublime. Keep it up!

This is brilliant idea!!
i just joined this channel~
just want to give you some cheering support~
Go Game Dev !
Omg so awesome! Good job!
Thank you for the mentioning of Holoception, we really appreciate it! And keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Roger, I really enjoy watching your devlog, your work is inspiring! :)
I really liked your way of saying engine
Major respect for you admitting this; there's a lot of people, myself included, that lack the motivation to continue
This idea is sooo cool
This game has potential!
You should add this to the Oculus Quest!
I really love what you do..
Please, continue developing, we need more cool vr games
Will you make it available for the Oculus Quest via SideQuest?
Sure ! :)
YAY!!!
Valem Awesome!!!
That game idea has true potential
This game reminds me of the second person mode video, ahaha nice job 👍
If you are publishing this game someday when its ready please publish it on oculus quest because i use it and hand tracking too.
So many thick accent 20 year old game devs on youtube. I'm happy with this
This was so good, congratulations
Wow !! it's the best one ever !
I'm waiting for the next one :)
Valem, can you please make a video going more in-depth of how to make a separate character model follow the players moves 1:51 ? what are the mechanics of it?
Love the game concept! I would totally play it! Looks like it would be really fun to make levels for too.. maybe hold on to this idea?? (please)
After New updating the oculus integration plugin, some issues come. Like the player custom hand, grabbed the object, etc. can make a new tutorial.
He's got a new tutorial up about the new system. Also if you want I've got some videos about it on my channel as well.
OH! Your french, moi aussi :)
I've always wanted to make VR and AR games with Unity, but never really had any ideas.
Awesome 👍 Glad you didn't give up on it 😁 Mind if you can share the background music?
Great one, valem!
Wow. I actually want to play this game!
Where can I find the tutorial on a doll mimicing our hands and movement from joystick?
L'idée est juste excellente, bien joué !
hey I have an idea, you should make guards that you are controling knock out other guards
Also really fun looking love your videos and would def buy your games as be is hella cool
How can I make a psvr game?
I'd love to play a VR game by you on steam!
This is great, id like to learn this and make a VR world, can any set I buy just plug straight into Unity...
would you recommend getting the oculus quest or the rift s for game dev, the hand tracking seems cool. love your vids btw. Thanks for making such high quality videos!
Depends if you plan to develop for the quest, oculus link is working rather well with the quest (apart from a few issues here and there). If you have only the budget for one, I would recommend the quest as you can develop for pc and the mobile platform.
I was thinking that your idea might've been to control a giant mech at first, but making a ghost possess people is just as good.
You give me so much inspiration to make a vr game ! I’m trying to make one for the quest , using unity on my iMac and I just feel so lost and tips !?
I love the accent!
