𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
There are many crazy looking aircraft ranging from flying saucers to planes that take off vertically.
Many of these once state-of-the-art oddities were built without the help of advanced computing technology and sophisticated wind tunnel modelling that engineers use to create today.
While most were noble failures or never made it beyond the prototype stage, they nevertheless helped push forward the possibilities of the aviation technology.
As it turns out, humans have made some pretty crazy looking aircraft over the years.
From inflatable aircraft to flying pancakes, here is a roundup of the most insane, strange crazy aircraft to take to the skies.

A "Flying Submarine" ??? WTF !!!!

- Sun Tzu, probably.
@@commander31able60 Good Point...Who's gonna be looking for a flying sub???
Looking at the design, it was a bad airplane and a bad submarine...
Sounds pointless, except that a submarine flying at “bad airplane” speeds of 100 knots is hilariously faster than any conventional submarine.
That thing would doubtless show up on sonar like an underwater earthquake.
Now I've seen it all
A lot of the aircraft here honestly do not look weird overall, just some parts to said aircraft look weird. That locomotive copter/plane hybrid though was rather odd.
All experimental. Respect to the test pilots that flew them. The men and very few women that flew them are pretty much nonexistent today.
Burt Rutan has unfortunately been left out of this compilation. His designs are revolutionary.

The XB-35 looks like exactly what I would imagine the predecessor to the B-2 stealth bomber would look like.
Also, fun fact: the B-36 Peacemakers were the very first planes designed specifically for SAC and for delivering atomic payloads all over the Soviet Union in the event of war. "Peacemaker," in retrospect, is an even more ironic name than originally meant, considering the fallout from SACs war plans (included dropping up to 10 atomic bombs on Moscow alone) would have killed absolutely everyone on planet earth. "Peace" indeed.
The XB-35 was one of the prefecessors to the b2, even further back is the Horten Ho229 V3, and the creators of thst had similarly designed gliders, all of which helped design better and more useful flying wings for future work

The Z standing for the german word Zwilling or twin in english.
Its setup the same way as the twin Mustang, twin 109 and twin spitfire.
I know of 10 that got build and used but none of them survived the war)
I wonder which criteria where used for choosing the plane that made it into the list if two concepts where pretty similar.
Apart from your example, there are flying wings built by the Horten brothers, a Dornier design that also uses head and tail propeller (forgot its name), the Messerschmitt Me 323 and especially the Me 163 Komet which was even referenced as base for a Japanese adaption in the video
@@chaotischekreativitat9391 I suppose he just picked weird looking ones but in all honesty, planes like the HE111Z, Sm91 and 92 whould make for weird enough looking planes

The forward-swept-wing model you showed for the P.1216 was actually the P.1214. The P.1216 had swept-back wings. The P.1216 was the main development effort but it was classified, so BAe put out a lot of artwork of the P.1214, which was really only a design study, in order to show that they were 'doing advanced stuff' without actually giving the game away.
