    I had horrendous bad luck with the caps!

    Excellent, we're going on a long trip soon and I just bought those for our 2012 Highlander. This will come in handy for installation.

    Thanks for the video but I really wish people would stop recording vertically as the video fits monitors and tv screens poorly these days.

    I really appreciate you making this vid-as I have zero clue without any instructions...just wish it was a bit louder......my lappy is not so well endowed with sound capacity at best of times. Cheers!

      Thanks for watching mate. This was the first time I recorded a video on an iphone, and unfortunately not the best quality. Glad it helped you though.

      Hi Mate, The ones I bought were just cheap ones I found on ebay. I found they looked great but the cover end caps were a little loose. Recently (after 3 years of being installed) one of the caps fell of whilst driving so I have no idea where it is. I have checked on ebay and replacement covers are less than $50. In the US here is a link for some of the rails. www.ebay.com/itm/Fits-08-13-Toyota-Highlander-OE-Style-Roof-Rack-Rails-Silver/273309536187?fits=Year%3A2008%7CModel%3AHighlander%7CMake%3AToyota&hash=item3fa2848fbb:g:aE0AAOSwCpRbKbOw&shqty=1&isGTR=1#shId
      As you will see they are pretty reasonably priced and they are all seem pretty reasonable quality. They say they hold around 70kgs which is usually enough for what you need - ie. to hold a kayak, or a door, etc. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    Great video mate! I've been looking to order a pair of roof rails. Where did u happen to purchase these?

    • @HowtoMan
      @HowtoMan  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thomas Christian Hi Mate, I ordered these from Ebay. There are lots of sellers out there, and I did my research and went with who I thought was reputable. In hindsight, I think they are all pretty much the same, so just pick one of the bunch and I don't think you will go wrong. They are an absolute breeze to fit, and well worth their money.

    A socket would be 100% easier than a spanner, god video though,

      You brits and your spanner. It is an open end wrench.

    Hi what size and where did you buy , please 🙏

    • @HowtoMan

      Hi Fiona - I bought them many years ago from ebay from a seller who posted them from China. There are loads of listings for them. This is one I found recently : www.ebay.com.au/itm/124716401683?hash=item1d09ad4413%3Ag%3APzkAAOSwSTpkJxFz&fits=Year%3A2013%7CModel%3AKluger%7CMake%3AToyota
      I would suggest you have a look on ebay and pick the colour you want to make sure they match your vehicle. As you can see from the video, they are pretty easy to fit. Thanks for watching and please remember to subscribe.

    Hey man I installed cross bars on my highlander and now its loose..I cant seem to tighten the bolt...is there a solution?

    • @HowtoMan
      @HowtoMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would take off the bolt, cover the thread in a threadlock paste and then put it back on. Hopefully the threadlock paste once dried will lock it in place. You can buy threadlock at most diy/hardware stores.

    How much weight can the rails hold

    • @HowtoMan
      @HowtoMan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe (from memory) they are rated for 70kgs. I don't think I've ever had the need to hold anything much over 50kgs on the roof so far.

    need to know company or order # for this product to united states

    • @HowtoMan
      @HowtoMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mate, there are loads of companies that see these on ebay. After a quick search I found numerous including the following www.ebay.com/itm/OE-Style-Roof-Rack-Side-Rails-Bars-For-08-13-Toyota-Highlander-Black-Pair-Set/223860308468?fits=Year%3A2008%7CModel%3AHighlander%7CMake%3AToyota&epid=1262819634&hash=item341f1d39f4:g:2IgAAOSwAGxeItrJ
      Whilst I can't personally warrant any of these, they look to me like the ones that are pretty identical to what I purchased and would probably do the trick. I suggest you have a good look around and buy some at a price point you are happy with. Thanks for watching - remember to subscribe to my channel.

      yeah when i click on it it says not compatible for 2015 highlander LE V6, but my roof access looks identical to yours so was hoping to get exact model # you had

    • @HowtoMan
      @HowtoMan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelwendorf241 Hi Mate, unfortunately my model is the older 2013 version so this will be different from your. I would expect the newer shape to be very different. I'd suggest you checkout ebay as I see some roof rails on there (albeit a little more expensive for your newer shape) and make sure they look the same. If they are for your year I would be confident that they will fit.
