Whats crazy is this game takes 2 hours to finish on a normal speedrun. But back in 98, it took me almost 2 weeks to finish i was so scared. Every save room i went in i was so afraid to go back out of it knowing what was outside of the comfort zone.

You always felt safe in these rooms, but the music never let you fully release the tension you had cause you knew, once you moved on, lord only knew what horrors awaited you beyond the safe room doors

I don´t know if I am the only one who stops in the "Red Room Office" for a moment and automatically take some nostalgic feeling of lonelyness about the city, the people and the how bad was the incident itself. It´s like if you were there and think: "Everything that ever was, is never going to be again"
I played this game in my first year at college. The building I lived in was over 100 years old, and the game room was in the basement of the place. There were large windows that gave a view of a single streetlamp outside at night. I still remember the first time I entered the dark room. Playing in that room at night, alone, with this music playing, was creepy as all hell. And absolutely amazing. I've never played a game that immersed me in a feeling of isolation and despair more than RE2.

As a kid in 1999 it was fun to draw resident evil monsters from game magazines, because zombies and William looked so awesome to me and my friends. I also remember spending the whole summer holiday trying to beat RE2 an 3. Those were the good old days.
Same my friend. I was 11 when Resident Evil 2 came out back in 1998. It certainly shaped my childhood and the rest of my life. I am so grateful to have been there and still have my innocence at the time because it allowed me to fully embrace the game and its awesome art style at the time in a way an adult mind quite can't. I see your avatar is the original artwork for Red XIII. I used to LOVE drawing Cloud and Aeris back in school the year prior to Resident Evil 2. We are blessed, my friend.

I think the piano, oboe and violin are some of the best instruments to give a tense, scary atmosphere. I really like the piano in this track: how it's soft through most of the track, but goes to the deeper keys other times. Thanks for uploading this!

It's hard to believe how much of my past is tied to video games especially growing up in the 90's. Yet, It feels good to hear a song like this and remember what a great time I had with this game and miss the simple pleasures of youth.
I remember, I was 10 or 11 when I first played RE2. I was so shaken by the run from the accident with the fuel tanker to the Raccoon Police Station that I stayed in the first safe room for several minutes. Just trying to puzzle out how to open the locked drawer, hoping for more ammo. My inexperience left me with 5 bullets, no shot gun as I ran from the horde in the gun shop, and no healing items. Orange Caution... I eventually ran to the door on the opposite side of the main hall... and promptly died to the horde waiting within. This theme has been burned into my mind, an anxious breath of relief in chaotic moments when I know more is yet to come.
I think this is the best soundtrack in gaming history. It is this melody that describes the events of Racoon City, and what the main characters feel while being in the world of the zombie apocalypse where they have to survive with all our might

This is one of my all time favorite save room themes and also one of my favorite Resident Evil games. Seeing the licker for the first time is still fresh in my mind.
Best resident evil game hands down, no questions asked, period. The originals on the PS1 and the few on ps2 are great, the GameCube remakes are good too, but this game surpasses them all even the newest ones.
I've always thought that at :11 and until :14, it sounded so creepy, yet satisfying; It reminds me of Day of the Dead, for some reason. That sound makes me think that you're safe, but remember that the danger is just outside the door.

Those moments when you played this for the first time back in the 90s and you didn't know what was coming or lurking round the corner. This save room just kept me in suspense coupled with a moments relief.....the ost score is incredible, absolutely classic

Daniel Montoya I'm currently Playing Code Veronica for the first time and I am really enjoying it. RE2 is really nice and enjoyable, and I am still playing RE3 too. I started the classics first so I never played RE 4, 5 or 6. RE1 was reaaally good, I loved that game

Eu também curto demais o RE 2. Ao contrário da maioria, acabei não jogando ele no PS1 por ter conhecido meio tarde a série, mas zerei umas boas vezes no emulador. Comecei pelo 4 (imagina a felicidade que fiquei quando vi que o Funky ia fazer série dele hahaha) quando ainda tinha um PS2 e desde então não parei mais de jogar.
+Igor Matheus O 4 é o melhor na minha opinião, juntamente com o REmake e o RE2, é quase um consenso entre os fãs. Também comecei pelo 4 lá em 2005, eu tinha uns 8 anos. Rapaz, a primeira vez que vi o Dr. Salvador foi foda kkkk tenho medo daquele maluco até hoje. Boas memórias daquele game fantástico, prefiro ele talvez pela nostalgia, mas é inegável o fato de que também um jogo fantástico. REmake foi o que me trouxe para os Resident Evil Old School, lá em 2010 quando joguei no Wii, joguei o resto no PC e o Code Veronica no 360. Estou bastante ansioso para o RE2 Remake! Espero ao menos que deixem o Leon tão carismático quanto ele é hoje em dia(especialmente no 4-"Your right hand comes off?" kkkkkk), ele era meio "meh" no 2.

I was thinking something too deep and crazy like somehow you feel you heard it before but never actually heard it before type of thing. 😆 I guess this music being in a creepy setting made me think too much. This theme was always one of my favorites in the RE series.

Although Resident Evil is a horror game, its a tragic and sad story, and this song makes me feel perfectly the sadness.

Those moments when you played this for the first time back in the 90s and you didn't know what was coming or lurking round the corner. This save room just kept me in suspense coupled with a moments relief.....the ost score is incredible, absolutely classic

Suspence in shit game!. Itsn´t Obviously what It used to be. Regarding Resident Evil Story (Not counting on the spin offs) I never stop Playing from Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 Nemesis. These are the Best. Code Veronica Not Worthy to be played again (In my opinion). 4 Is.... Almost dead. 5 and 6 can go to hell and rot
i enjoyed code veronica, not my favorite tho, 4 was good but i missed the zombies. personal favorite would have to be either nemesis or the remake

Daniel Montoya I'm currently Playing Code Veronica for the first time and I am really enjoying it. RE2 is really nice and enjoyable, and I am still playing RE3 too. I started the classics first so I never played RE 4, 5 or 6.
RE1 was reaaally good, I loved that game

Eu também curto demais o RE 2. Ao contrário da maioria, acabei não jogando ele no PS1 por ter conhecido meio tarde a série, mas zerei umas boas vezes no emulador. Comecei pelo 4 (imagina a felicidade que fiquei quando vi que o Funky ia fazer série dele hahaha) quando ainda tinha um PS2 e desde então não parei mais de jogar.
+Igor Matheus O 4 é o melhor na minha opinião, juntamente com o REmake e o RE2, é quase um consenso entre os fãs. Também comecei pelo 4 lá em 2005, eu tinha uns 8 anos. Rapaz, a primeira vez que vi o Dr. Salvador foi foda kkkk tenho medo daquele maluco até hoje. Boas memórias daquele game fantástico, prefiro ele talvez pela nostalgia, mas é inegável o fato de que também um jogo fantástico. REmake foi o que me trouxe para os Resident Evil Old School, lá em 2010 quando joguei no Wii, joguei o resto no PC e o Code Veronica no 360. Estou bastante ansioso para o RE2 Remake! Espero ao menos que deixem o Leon tão carismático quanto ele é hoje em dia(especialmente no 4-"Your right hand comes off?" kkkkkk), ele era meio "meh" no 2.

I still feel the relief from entering a save-room and I'm only listening to the music! Very powerful piece, I sighed in relief hearing this as I would in game!
Opening doors is like the safest thing in the game. 5-10 zombies and 2 lickers behind you, open the door slowly and they will never attack you.
Had a friend who passed away over 10 years ago while in high school. This is a game we used to play frequently. Its amazing how much this song can bring back vivid memories of simpler times.

Wow ... This song means something more to me, reminds me about how beautiful was my childhood. Playing RE2 with my sister all night long. I wish I could reborn again and live those beautiful moments again tho.

Simpler and, for the most part, better timesThis is probably the most mentionable soundtrack of resident evil that let you feel the whole theme about this game: Survival-Horror. Resident Evil 7 has still got it, even with the perspective change, scary AF !!! It's got me a couple of times, even when I was preparing myself for it, well played Capcom for that and this ^ :D :D
