My ancestors were there, Nicholas Fagan and his son. Both survived the massacre

Lived and worked in Victoria in 1972-73. Visited Goliad during that time. Was truly awe inspiring.

Thank you for this history. My granddad was one of the survivors. His name was Milton Irish. He came from Maine and fought for a year in the army.
I know every one in that effort was a hero for our independence.

I live in Bath Maine. When I look him up it said Union, Lincoln county Maine. The issue is Union has ALWAYS been in Knox county 🤷🏼‍♂️. I’m trying to see if I can find his childhood home.

Have you researched Captain Jack Shackelford (one of my ancestors) who commanded the Alabama Red Rovers. He was a doctor and spared from execution by the Mexicans to tend to their wounded. Much of what happed at Goliad would never have been known if it were not for his detailed accounts. Shackelford county Texas was named after him.

Where can I find the firsthand account of Samuel Brown that you’re getting your information from?
Can you please provide a link if one exists?

I believe it was in the 1860 Texas almanac. Google and see what you get
