My 3rd Great Granduncle (by marriage) William Quinn (b. 1794 in County Clare Ireland d. 1836 at Coleto Creek) was one of the native Irish who had settled in South Texas on Mexican Land Grants and who fought for Texas Independence. William died at the Battle of Coleto Creek. His brother in law, Timothy Hart (b. 1810 in Baltimore, MD of parents from Ireland)) whose was my 3rd Great Granduncle was another Irishman who also supported the cause of independence from Mexico. He signed the Declaration of Independence at Goliad... Research will tell you that there were many first and second generation Irish who supported and fought for Texas independence.
It is noteworthy that General Sam Houston of the army of Texas had told both Goliad and Alamo groups to move north as they were in untenable and not to try to defend their positions and join his army.

Great point, but Santa Ana’s generals also advice him to not break up his army. Santa Ana used Napoleons strategies
But he was not Nopolion and failed
@@PaulisVidalSanta Anna had to break up his army to forage given the Texians interdicted his supply ship.
I think we found the most under-watched channel on YT. These vids have been great!
great video, I remember researching this war for fun and this topic came up again and again
Great production and narration. Cheers!
I got to go to sleep. But I'll check it out tomorrow
hey man
Another quality video.
The mostly Scots Irish Texans reverted to the highland charge to overwhelm Santa Anna historically amazing
Never thought of that but it checks out.
Commented for the algorithm.
God Bless Texas.
And keep them far away from us!
Why should God bless slaver crooks?
Why should He???
Well told thank you
December 1835, not 1836.
interesting how that tyrant was so welcome in New York City.
He was no tyrant. Slaver, crooks! Sam Houston was a falling down drunkard!
It might have been due to sectional tension.
The Mexican version is much much more believable.
They killed unarmed prisoners who surrendered and were paid back at San Jacinto.
Go on please.
