I go there. Trust me, we make these jokes in the student body.
Edit: Oh and since I have so many likes and this comment is visible, I'm going to take this opportunity to discredit mister "Rutgers are 1869 National Champions" down there: Rutgers played TWO games against Princeton that year.
As we all know, they won the first game 6-4.
Two weeks later they played at Princeton and lost EIGHT TO NOTHING.
Oh just saying he’s my best friends brother and is probably the best basketball player in the state, yes state
I go there too. Literally like every time there’s a football game we’re like “aaaaaaand let’s see by how much we’re gonna lose today LOLLLLLL”
welcome to Johnny's fashion evaluation jeez I’m glad I go to MSU as a student. Being a Rutgers student sounds rough. Hope you guys turn it around though.
As an Ohio State fan I treat Rutgers as a bye week
Even though they scored the most points on Ohio State this year thus far.... Lol that's crazy to think about.
In my NCAA 14 dynasty Rutgers won the natty 7 years in a row. Was I controlling them? I don't feel the need to answer the question
General Coma Play as UMASS, it’s a real challenge😂 in that game they only have played one season of football and went 1-11. Or play as Old Diminion, in that game they never played a season of football that’s also a challenge😂
It’s simple... THEY NEED FLEMLO
Edit: If y’all don’t know who flemlo is look up FLEMLO RAPS ncaa14 dynasty’s
They make New Jersey look so bad. People don’t understand the talent that this state produces cuz they’re so embarrassing
pump it’s literally better than like 45 other states. Don’t talk shit unless you’ve been here
TmanTV Most people who talk shit about NJ see Jersey Shore one time and nothing else lmao
I mean I don’t find jersey interesting at all but then again, I think the state I live in is bad too.
As a fan of fellow Big 10 member MSU I can’t feel bad because with them in the conference I get to feel good a guaranteed once a season

It’s all fun and games until Rutgers Beats Alabama and gets the Natty.
Rutgers beats the Alabama club flag football team and wins a case of Natural Light?
Imagine being their marching band lmao
Green wall Tree seriously 😂 I was in the marching band in 2014 and maaaaaaaaaan we were like ‘yup we’re gonna lose’ and half of us would like lose our focus on the game. We were al so shocked when we found out that Rutgers actually made it to the rose bowl. So basically, we were all cool cuz we knew we were gonna struggle. But what wasn’t cool was sometimes we’d get mocked by the opposing school’s fan after losing a game (thankfully the mocking part didn’t happen very often but it happened to me on more than one occasion)
As a buckeyes fan, I am mad that we let an RUTGERS offensive line on are program. Disgusting.
Here’s an idea for the Big 10 commissioner, send Rutgers to the ACC in exchange for Pitt. The reason revive the Penn State/Pittsburgh rivalry.
Unfortunately that wouldn’t work the ACC is already in danger of falling out of a power 5 conference I assume we’ll see the ACC push for Notre dame though
Jayme Owen the ACC has produced four national championship finalists in the last six years and make billions of dollars in revenue, there’s absolutely no chance of them losing their power 5 status.
pitt penn state is hardly a rivalry anymore... pitt is a joke we clap them every year
Jets, Giants, Rutgers, and Knicks😂 that’s tough
Syracuse is New York’s college team. Other than that we’re a big baseball market
@@GLee-oe3op I'd say Rutgers, St. Johns, Seton Hall are all New York's college team. Not Syracuse.

It’s hard when you live next to them 😩
@@ARogolino1 Piscataway!!...the high school football team is better than Rutgers...

Nothing says Big Ten football like New Jersey.
Penn State owns the New Jersey recruiting market
Jabrill Peppers was top 50 prospects in his class and he chose Michigan. Not everyone goes to Penn, Ohio state also recruit well in NJ. Most schools outside NJ recruits better than Rutgers. Greg Schiano had Florida down pat.
@@ryanpatterson1285 Schiano's going to find the going much tougher this time around, however. Schiano had a aging, rapidly declining Joe Paterno to recruit against, but now under James Franklin Penn State has become a recruiting force. For example, Franklin convinced Saquon Barkley to decommit from Rutgers and go to PSU.
kchall5 i understand that but schiano is already bringing in good recruits from NJ. i would’ve decommitted from rutgers like barkley too during that time because there were many scandals going on with the rutgers football team at the time
“Rutgers football is a joke”
*shows 5 minutes of Rutgers highlights*
Ironic considering they left the Big East for football. their solid basketball team actually suffered as a result the same way Pitt's did. You could probably make an entire video about how the move affected each team at large
It’s been a very rough few years especially as someone who was raised and fell in love with football through this team. Really hoping things can start to improve. I was there in person for all of the 78 to nothing game and got there to tailgate before the sun was even up.
I could clone myself 25 times and I could beat Rutgers
New Jersey is loaded with high school talent but no one wants to go there!
Even my Spartans beat them and we ain't doing so hot this season

“The Big East conference, which no longer exists for football”
Well really it doesn’t exist at all. The New Big East is a completely separate entity from the original.
Yeah and I wish with alot of people the old Big East Conference still exists today!
As a Michigan fan, Rutgers is just a week to play the local peewee team
I think rutgers will definitely do well really soon. They are learning about the Big Ten and getting accustomed to it
I’m an OSU fan and I really want to see teams like Rutgers do better and be a competitive and good team!
It’s even crazier when you realize that American Football was invented by 2 Rutgers professors
This is the most short-sighted video I have ever seen. Rutgers is going to have way better facilities in the B1G and if they can get competitive they’ll be way better off than being competitive in the American. You have to figure it’ll take 15 or 20 years to get them up to speed with the new league. I know that sounds like a long time but it’s like moving your team from the XFL to the NFL overnight: painful for what seems like an eternity but much better in the long run. I went to UMass. People always wanted our football team to drop back to I-AA where we won a title forever ago. But no, being in I-A and playing big name teams not only earns a big paycheck but if you manage to win one showcase game against a power5 team, you earn more notoriety and recruiting power than winning 5 I-AA national titles. Why do you think Appalachian state abandoned I-AA after winning multiple titles?
Bring back Greg Schiano
I was there in 06 when Rutgers beat #3 Louisville, there in 07 when they knocked for #2 USF, there in 2012 when they were a 3 point less to Louisville from the sugar bowl. I can’t even stand the sight of the current team and won’t go to games
Once a date mentioned she was a Rutgers cheerleader. I made a joke about how much they suck. She took me seriously, and said "You have No idea!!" Hilarious.
Greg is back for the next 8 years!!! I’m super excited about that
I graduated from Rutgers in 2007, and regardless of everything, that 2006 season where we went the first half undefeated and then upset Louisville at home in a huge way was AMAZING! I was at that Rutgers vs Louisville game (had to wait in a line/riot for hours outside the stadium a week before but at least as a student my ticket was free) and it was pretty sweet when "Judge" Ito kicked that winning field goal and we all rushed the field.
Brynden Rivers - I’m from Lexington KY. I remember that was the arrival of that program. Nationally. Really cool you were there. That was a hell of a Louisville team they beat that night. The breakup of the Big East and the whole 2013-2014 NCAA realignment was a joke.
Rutgers is in a high market.
Hah hah hah. Living in New York, I can tell you that no one in this state gives a damn about them
I do care and I live in New York City when I'm in college I want to play for them
Luis Alvarez if u live in ny, go to Syracuse If you want a better experience
In 2001, WVU had its worst season over the last 50 years. They went 3-8 and lost to Temple. And in this, the darkest year of the modern era for the Mountaineers...they still managed to beat Rutgers 80-7.
If Rutgers didn't invent College Football there would be no other teams to this day.
4:58 I just got diagnosed with mono and one of my friends who’s a Jets fan sent me that same video but it said “forever immune from mononucleosis”
I live in NYC and nobody in my area cares about Rutgers football. Most people are either Penn State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida, or Miami fans. I’m a Florida Gators fan.
Just stumbled upon this after they REHIRED Schiano. Nothing but laughter.
Pat Hobbs and Robert Barbi seem to think we're ok though
"It's doesn't matter if the football team makes money"
im going to help Rutgers elevate higher then they’ve every been viewed before - Championship or bust
Rutgers football never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
I don’t think moving to the Big ten was a mistake. Yes, they’ve gotten destroyed in it, but if they hasn’t joined they would’ve become an independent like Umass and liberty or would’ve had to join a non power five conference. Joining the big ten will allow them to make a comeback now that they have Greg schiano back at the helm. The real mistake was all the coaching hires who didn’t live up to expectations. As you said, they are a in a large market with no major college football teams in New York or New Jersey and the big ten will only help them return to the glory days with a know competent coach.
But we just got Schiano back let’s gooooo
Rutgers gets out recruited in NJ by Temple. They dont get any of the diamonds in the rough.
It's worth mentioning that Rutgers joined the B10 mostly for academic purposes, with football being an afterthought.
4:06 “Not all hoop is lost”
no mention of Kyle Flood, the obvious culprit of the downfall?
@@cityhawk Same thing happened to Maryland. Once was a great team but their athletic department screwed it up. Firing the fridge was only one of many mistakes that I can think of.
Michael Wilkinson I think what happens is that when a program gets their first taste of success, they get cocky, and think they can’t do anything wrong. So when programs like Rutgers, Kansas, and Maryland get their first taste of football success, they get a bloated sense of entitlement. To a certain extent, Northwestern has been able to weather this storm. I could see the same issues for Duke once Cutcliffe leaves the program.
Flood's departure was a big factor, but something else happened that DESTROYED Rutgers' recruiting: After arriving at Michigan, Harbaugh made New Jersey a recruiting priority for UM and was so successful he basically made a pipeline to Ann Arbor. Throw in Chris Ash along with Indiana becoming a bowl-quality team, and Rutgers collapsed into the Big 10 cellar. It could be years before they get back to bowl games.
I’m a Rutgers fan 😢😢
During the college realignments of the mid-2010's Rutgers was the only team actually promoted to the Power 5 from a lesser conference, and that conference was the biggest, most powerful one of all, the Big Ten. They were less than ready for prime time, and not just in football, but in just about every varsity sport, both men's and women's. Their facilities were and are substandard in comparison to the other Power 5 schools, as well as many G5 programs. They are the redheaded stepchild of the B1G.
Rutgers and Syracuse are the reason why Upstate NY has so many Penn State fans
The entire northeast and mid atlantic seems to have a good number of Penn State fans.
All of this is due to the coaching staff , recruiters and no one really wants to play there
As a Wisconsin fan, I hate that Rutgers and Maryland are in the B1G. They have no business here.
I wonder if the big ten can kick them out? Or are there contracts? I'd invite pitt or Missouri. Those would be good fits.
and by the way Schiano is back and the latest Rutgers recruiting class is ranked 7 in the nation.
Another reason: all of New Jersey’s High School RB’s go to Wisconsin (Go badgers btw) wanna know some?
Ron Dayne (#1 all time in CFB FBS yards)
Jonathan Taylor (you know him)
Corey Clement (Eagles Running back)
2006 seems like a century ago
I graduated Rutgers in 2007 and was at that Louisville game where we upset them big time... It was pretty amazing rushing the field that night
So Rutgers was the national football champion before modern football and the forward pass were invented. It's obvious then. The NCAA needs to eliminate the forward pass along with helmets and all equipment not part of the uniform.
Every conference has their version of Rutgers. The Big 12 has Kansas. The SEC has Arkansas.
I had an idea to do a similar video on Maryland football a team that gets bullied a little less than Rutgers in the big 10 EDIT: just made a video where I did a conference realignment It was pretty unrealistic but feel free to check it out
As someone who was raised a Maryland fan I'm fed up. We shoulda stayed in the ACC and we missed out on many good coaches (and fired one).
Why are they in the big ten
@@joshg1529 Same reason as Maryland for DC and Baltimore market. Maryland shoulda stayed in the ACC for basketball and so they would win more than 3 games a season. Same with Rutgers, shoulda stayed in AAC or big east.
Michael Wilkinson MD basketball doesn’t too bad in the B1G however the football team...
win or lose a Rutgers fan for life
Well Greg Schiano is comming back, so we'll see
I didn't even know Rutgers was in New Jersey
Im from jersey too and rutgers will forever be a joke in football
Truly sad that Rutgers can't attract some of the incredible amount of talent in state of NJ and instead watch that talent go to the likes of Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc... If by some miracle they are able to retain this talent in the state they could contend with anyone.
Funny thing I saw as a Michigan State fan - since joining the Big Ten, Rutgers has never beaten MSU in football or basketball
There’s worse
Like Vanderbilt
Jackson Goodman nah Vandy is better than Rutgers... AT LEAST the get 4-6 wins per season. Hell they even upset teams like Georgia in the past decade... I mean they can also beat teams like Tennessee, Arkansas, and Missouri.. Rutgers would be 0-12 in the SEC every season.
Chris Okeefe no. Rutgers would get to play 4 non conference games if they were in the SEC. two against FCS teams usually. They’d win 2 games against them, and possibly another one against a group of five team.
ImAgine showing highlights vs umass 😂
Big problem is recruiting... if they can get some good recruits they’d be good in the big ten. And hey, the EAGLES are the escape to Rutgers recent football struggles. Go Knights!
Give it time and the results will improve. Good coaches and players produce results.
As someone from New Jersey I laugh at Rutgers a lot IDK I don't really like them never really cared about them
So happy that Someone has finally taken the pressure off Kansas as worst program. Oddly in 07,08,09 They were both pretty good.
WELL SCHIANOS BACK BABY
As a WVU fan, we looked forward to the Rutgers game in the Big East days. Score was 80-7 in 2001.
It’s because of how recruiting is these days. Good high school kids in New Jersey (usually a top 5 state in country for HS football) went to Rutgers because of the lack of internet and camp exposure. Now good players from Jersey go all over the country, example Jabril peppers- Michigan.
Penn State is the local football team in Northern NJ and southern NJ loves them Temple Owls
It’s a shame cause the reason the B1G accepted them was due to the NYC media market. NYC and North Jersey have good high school talent. They just can’t recruit and it shows.
They need to find bigger donors. Their facilities are a mess. They will never compete in a conference like the B1G until they pour millions into an indoor training facility, a new locker room, and completely overhaul the football facility as a whole. The facility needs to have all these amenities under one roof.
Reminds me of my beloved UTEP Miners. Last three seasons: 0-12, 1-11, and 1-11. Only one win against an FBS opposition in 3 seasons. Take THAT Rutgers!
When your team makes my school (Indiana) look good at FOOTBALL, you know something is terribly wrong.
Amazing research and commentary, well put together my friend. Keep up the good work!
Make one for Nebraska. As a Nebraska fan, I allow you to roast us to the max
As a maryland fan we can both agree on that moving to the big 10 was the worst decision we could've made
They just hired Schiano back at least
I was a freshman and at the game when Michigan blew Rutgers out of the water 78-0. Really set a first impression on the football team for me.
As an SEC fan - I miss the old Big East. Was always some really fun football games to watch, and it’s legitimate reputation let some non-traditional programs reach crazy heights like USF at #2
I like a change of pace, no one has fun watching the same 6 teams compete for playoff spots every year
Rutgers problem is as you said, they're in the B1G, and there's 2 other programs that have struggled MIGHTLY in the B1G since joining, Maryland, and Nebraska.
Money should never be a reason to move to another conference, it should always be about the region and how well you recruit from said region.
It's the same problem for the university of Pittsburgh, since their move to the ACC they have not been the same team either, in fact, pretty much every team from the former Big East conference has struggled in one way or another. It's all about recruiting. The advantage conferences had in being more regional is that regional recruits will play for a rival school if it means staying within the same conference so they can still play in their home stadium (an example, Wisconsin recruited a 4* WR named Danny Davis, from Columbus, OH, he was rejected by OSU so he joined Wisconsin instead so he can still play at Ohio Stadium in the B1G). Rutgers closest regional rivals are Maryland and Penn State? That puts them pretty far from a lot of competition, and it killed a lot of rivalries they had in the Big East.
Consider the old Big East prior to 2013, the football teams included Rutgers, Pitt, Syracuse, UConn, Temple, Cincy, Louisville, and USF. Think about how close and regional 6 of the 8 teams are, and how that helped recruiting for those schools. Since the Big East became a non football conference, Pitt has struggled, Syracuse has been meh, Louisville since Lamar left for the NFL has been bad, and as for USF Temple Cincy and UConn? UConn is one of the worst programs in football as well, USF just fired their HC, Temple has been decent, Cincy is up and down but they're doing well right now.
It begs the question on relegation, should teams switch conferences if they're bad enough in P5 conferences to warrant a switch? I think we should! We could even try to match up said conferences.
B1G gets MAC
SEC gets Sun Belt
Pac 12 gets MW
ACC gets the American or C-USA
and
Big 12 also gets the American or C-USA both get them for regional reasons.
OR! For more stability, just start moving teams to different conferences for regionally accurate teams. For example
Nebraska, since their move to the B1G they only had 1 season with 10 wins, but that was the year they got blown the FUCK out by Wisconsin 70-31 in the B1G title game, and since their move, they've only beaten Wisconsin ONCE ironically in 2012 in that same season. They haven't had a winning season now since 2016. Team for the switch? Iowa State, their rivalry with Iowa is getting NASTY and for it to be more annual would make it more meaningful, it would also help Iowa State's recruiting (especially in state) and they're more capable of playing B1G style football.
Maryland, since joining in 2014, 1 winning season, they have not gotten better either especially with some of the scandals they've had, more appropriate team from the ACC? Pittsburgh, they have a rivalry with Penn State, and is closer regionally in the B1G, and closer to OSU than PSU!
Rutgers? For reasons explained above, the better team to be in the B1G, Cincy! Cincy has been good more than bad and would make a great regional rival for OSU and open up their recruiting!
And that's just the B1G! Imagine how much better the conferences could be if more regionally accurate teams played for them.
As an Arkansas Razorback fan, Rutgers could beat us, a SEC team. You are not at the very bottom.
Problem is location. New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut aren’t hotbeds for high school football recruiting. Pennsylvania is trapped off by Penn State, Pitt, and Ohio State. New England gets swallowed up by Boston College. And anyone of any star talent that comes the Tri-State area aren’t going to go to places like Rutgers. They’ll even settle for Syracuse if all else fails. They’re out of here, and off to greener pastures.
As a Kentucky fan, that last part made me really happy
Their only path to success is if Rutgers' nine conference games consist of teams like Pioneer High School, Iowa City High, Madison West High School, Cristo Rey Columbus High School and Evanston Township High School.
I went to Rutgers and trust me, we know. We’ve always known. I’ve never watched a full Rutgers football game sober
Rutgers football was pretty good until the got 2 the BIG TEN. They either need 2 go 2 the AAC or independent. I just found out that Greg Schiano is coming back 2 coach but I don't know if that's gonna make a difference
I like how this video is mainly on why they suck, but he also shows good plays by them, not jus shittin on the team, jus full honestly
