Lengthy thank you, please bare with me. I genuinely just watched Micks original Birthday pedalboard build last night and felt obliged to share this. Hopefully you'll find it "interesting" to hear my personal influences from TPS in line with your own experiences. Quick background, for reference. I am a 43yo guitar player (30yrs playing) who got into using fx some 17yrs ago after I broke my left (fretting) hand in 16 places and subsequently gave away my Paul Gilbert intense rock VHS's and all my guitar gear. I took to digital music to scratch my expressive itch and found satisfaction in that. After a few years I was forced by my current bandmates to relearn guitar. Due to a complete lack of confidence in my own playing, and to recreate the soundscapes i had filled the void with, I used pedals to cover my perceived shortfalls. As luck would have it I became 1 of a 3 guitar very alternative rock band (think of a drinking man's Radiohead), so had loads of space and permission to really rediscover the cosmic nod of properly getting lost in jamming with your mates. Several years of accumulating a literal cupboard full of pedals later (based entirely on bargain forum trades, hearsay and PGS Andy demos) I was happy with the noises I was able to shoehorn into our frequency. I've come to love the wtf reaction of people to my solos that sound more like Darth Vader having prison sex than traditional guitar but I was finding it difficult to recreate them consistently. Step in TPS Now I am drawing up a G2 based stereo rig and feel for the first time that I genuinely KNOW how to make it capable of reproducing all the weird sounds I've come to use and generate the sounds I have in my head. Sincerest thanks and kindest regards Kelvin

This vid made me a Klon believer. Wow, Mick, you cannot take it off this pedalboard. It just brings out the best in almost every other pedal. Takes away any darkness or muddiness in the sound. It is the guitar equivalent of enunciating your words.
Despite being exclusively a modelling guy (been using the Helix for over a year now), I still love this show and watch it regularly! So many great ideas and inspiration to dive back in to tonal pursuits! And although I’ve no desire to buy any pedals or amps after watching, the same definitely can’t be said of guitars! ;)
Nice board and setup. Really enjoyed it. But the biggest thing I got from this video: THAT SILVER SKY GUITAR IS BOSS! Sooo assertive!!!! Makes the others sound like partcasters made by amateurs. I wonder why Mick was so shy when asked if he is connecting with it....it sure puts the other guitars to shame (just a bit). That reverse headstock strat is also pretty sweet. Love you guys. Keep up the good work

Been out of touch for a while.... Writing whilst video is at 30:00 mark. That's a lovely ES 335, Mick. I foolishly got rid of a good one because it was physically uncomfortable for me to play (dug into my ribs). I'm convinced that the 335 is the best Gibson (seller's remorse?). The most dynamic, most toneful, most useful. The best sounding straight out of the box. I still have one Les Paul because tonally it channels early Mick Taylor (er, the other one). My SG Les Paul is different because it just "barks". I'm a Lefty who plays Righty - that's something to do with it because I tend to angle guitars vertically by too much pressure from my right forearm. Anyway good to be back, thanks guys. Pete. PS I prefer Wet/Dry to Wet/Dry/Wet for the very reason Dan suggests - sounds not so processed, easier to control.
Cheers P! Ergonomics are such an interesting topic. The reason I don’t play Les Pauls much or my DGT is because I find them too small. And weighted weird for sitting down. You’d think the 335 wouldn’t work at all.... but it does, just instantly comfortable. It’s weird. SGs no problem, Strats no problem, Teles no problem. I’m confused!

I want to set up a board very very similar to this. I have most of these and this made my day to figure out how I want to lay it out
The HORN is horn mate. It has to stay forever. :D
Amazing new board Mick! Sounds very fresh. I look forward to seeing Dans new rig also. Was hoping maybe you guys could show sounds of a regular plexi amp vs maybe two or 3 cascaded plexi amp heads for that MASSIVE Jimi tone.
Thanks again, rock on!
Hello Drew. Our 50 is about to get some mods, so maybe that can be part of the journey. Nice!
That board is FIYA
That Soungarden...so good man.
