All the people in my local synth community cant help but groan about how much behringer sucks and yet here we are, at a beautiful piece of music that didnt cost you 3k just for one of the synths.
Haha well I guess they have some catching up to do. The latest synthesizers from Behringer have been pretty good and the future lineups look interesting as well.
Jesse Mitchell yeah. I agree with you 100%. I can get that the designer of the original feels a bit sad maybe. But still: this is the real thing. It’s not a mimick: it sounds exactly the same. It’s not the typical copycat between digital and analog where the difference really is there.
Joachim Sällström some guy tried to tell me that there is something (intangible of course) about the bass quality of the original. Theyre right, its the branding thats different!
2:24 and onwards some ten seconds is the best, most moving part of this track. I’ve listened to it so many times now. With a couple of whiskies in me I would probably cry.
You really captured something when you played that phrase. It's a rare way of playing these days that become original since it's a more old way of playing a synth to my ears. Even though it's improvised, do you think Vangelis was your main influence there? :)
@Mahen Ounet I don't remember the exact settings I use as TonePrint software settings are a bit cryptic. In a nutshell, I remember playing with the settings to have the lowest possible harmonic spread so the shimmer is the darkest possible, and playing with the "tone" dial to control brightness. Demo of this effect on one of my synth ambient pieces (the beginning is literally a sine wave and a shimmer): th-cam.com/video/qiJGH84ang0/w-d-xo.html
This is a proper demo. Great ambient piece. Also, it has to be said: after years of making crappy imitations of crappy gear from other equally crappy brands, Behringer has really gotten it's act together with this new approach of bringing iconic synths to the masses. They're doing invaluable work in making high-end sounds affordable. I hope they are sturdy and reliable, which is always something to worry for budget musicians :)
Oh wow, thanks for the reply! 🙏 Truely beautiful textures indeed. And such a joy to get to try those settings + Valhalla. It seems like that specific MIDI controller could also be benefitial to the vibe, quick changes, slides and bends. Have to look into it also then. Thanks again. 😊
Absolutely beautiful. I am fast becoming a huge fan of Behringer synths, and whilst I love my more "high end": kit such as Moog and DSI, Mr B has kind of blown my mind. Bought a Deepmind 12 and I can't stop playing it. There is nothing quite like playing an instrument rather than simply dialling something in. The knobs, sliders and switches on synths are as much a part of musical creativity on these glorious bits of kit as the keys, which is why people have always loved them. You never quite know what you're going to get if you keep an open-minded approach!! The price point of this amazing kit means that more people are able to explore this area, and whilst I in no way criticise good software instruments (I use Ommisphere 2 and Keyscape as my go-to for all things software - thanks Eric and team for constantly making my jaw hit the floor) the idea of hands-on, sonic potential that these offer is to be congratulated. Arturia is another company who has shifted the quality up compared to the low price point - long may this continue and show more and more people why people like me love this stuff - its creative, inspiring, experimental, and makes you appreciate the idea of sonic improvisation.
This is absolutely amazing, this is a wonderful tribute to Blade Runner and Vangelis. I'd love to hear more of these from you in the future, and happily buy them.
Oh.. This is feeling so meshed with my heartstrings getting all zithered! I love the expressiveness washing over. Bladerunner Is So Monumental OST Vangelis really brought some astounding emotional territory to the synth world with that one. Your patches and playing are wonderful, thanks so much for sharing it with us.
One of my most favourite videos on TH-cam Saw it like 1.5 years ago first time. Got really inspired to buy my first hardware synth. Didn't know anything about hardware synths, modulation or sound design, did not understand a word in your description :D Now I'm sitting here already like $1000 into the hobby having a blast Much Love ❤️
@@SvenHeitland Hi! There is more info about synth settings and software used in the video description of this video. But I would also recommend that you check out the tutorial I made about how I create ambient pads using Valhalla Shimmer and SoundToys Crystallizer: th-cam.com/video/bZduCHcQqWA/w-d-xo.html Let me know if you have any specific things you are wondering about.
If Behringer sucks then remember that sucking a cocktail on a sunny beach isn't bad either. Not sure about spending 3K on a real moog model D today unless you want to own a real moog instead of 'just' a behringer. Regardless, it sounds truly awesome on reverb and nobody will be able to tell the difference, not even a scope.
Bought a Model D and a Neutron today !! So excited.. only found this now after a gazillion research vids on the power of both 🤘 Your an inspiration thankyou. Look forward to getting out the Volca FM and Monologue🎉
RemixSample Truly, reverb is king. Even in my case, where I don’t use any fancy reverbs (just Clouds and 2hp Verb), when I take reverb off my stuff, things can sound amazingly small and corny.
Thanks for sharing. I like that you made the B Model D do a Blade Runner sound. I hope to study what you did and learn from it when I get my own Model D fully online.
These moments will be lost in time. Like tears in rain.
Unless uploaded to YT! What a script. I still come back and listen to this often. My Model D is my go to for BladeRunner Blues too.
But not in vain. The taste of pain
Stays still behind my Gin and Lime
who would have thought a Volca and a Behringer could crush this much for so little !!

Ditto!
I bet him 100$ he couldn't a&b both units while blindfolded. Gear lust blinds so many people.
Good listen. This is what synthesis is all about. You do not have to be a concert pianist to be an artist. Excellent sound design, inspiring.
Thanks! A little reverb and a pitch wheel goes a long way!
True but don't discount the application of synth knowledge and good ear, God gave you good ears ({-:)
OK, now I've lost my tears in the rain. Awesome soundscape!
2:24 and onwards some ten seconds is the best, most moving part of this track. I’ve listened to it so many times now. With a couple of whiskies in me I would probably cry.
Agree. That's the thing with improv. A lot of it sounds kinda okay but it's usually only a little snipped that could make it into a real song.
You really captured something when you played that phrase. It's a rare way of playing these days that become original since it's a more old way of playing a synth to my ears. Even though it's improvised, do you think Vangelis was your main influence there? :)
Yes sure I think so. I mean it's almost impossible not to make those types of sounds when you have a big reverb and a pitch wheel handy. :D
RemixSample listening again. Lovely, man!
Keep coming back 👍👍👍
It's friday night and I came back here once again. It's beautiful.
Thank you! :D
Press 20 mins of this to vinyl and i would buy it
Hehe I'll let you know if that happens. Cheers!

Listen to it at half speed, sounds pretty cool.
Darn tootin'!
T A P E
Cue gigantic explosions behind soldiers running in ultra slow-mo...
This sounds beautiful. God bless!
Awesome! Good job. People hating on Behringer, but the Model D, Crave and Neutron are killer! I use mine in my music and absolutely love it.
Love it! Good as always!
Thanks! =)
Hey timecop!
How cool for timecop to say your music is cool! What an honor!
The synth gods have truly blessed you with the talent to create great sounds
Vangelis would be proud.
Yes, and being greek he would probably say so loudly, banging the table to emphasise his enthusiasm!
Shimmer reverb with this type of sounds= Extremely good weapon.
The HoF2 (by tc, which is Behringer owned) is the best one once you tune it with software. I have 2 of them.

Naw.... I like Eventide, H9-Max specifically .... the “Blackhole” reverb algorithms are just nuts.
Beautiful. The two patches compliment each perfectly. Very tasteful lead, builds up very naturally
Thank you!
Creating some vids on building these types of patches would be sweet!
That little riff at 2:25; so good.
Hi, yes that is my favorite part as well. If I where to turn this into a "real" song I would work it around that part I think.
Yes, with the bend at the end. For a second, I was ready for a replicant to walk in the door.
That is amazing music! Vangelis would smile.
I listened to this 5 times in a row. Wow !! Buying a model d, please make another video like this but longer, about 8 hours should do the trick :)
Haha ok 8 hours it is! XD
This is a proper demo. Great ambient piece.

Great time to be alive! :D
Yeah, the old half-hearted cheap copying was no good, but the new all-in full-copying is better :D
If you'll excuse me, I have some replicants to track down.
indulge me - how long does it normally take?
One would do anything to get those Model-D settings man. That organic saw lead. Absolutely divine piece of music right there.
I can't find the original video that I modeled this after but if you check out my video description there is info about the patch there.

this music is one plane we go thru when we leave here to go home
This is truly unbelievable to my ears
Tremendous sound! The Valhalla shimmer needs to be brought out as a pedal!
Waiting impatiently for that as my studio is DAWless :p
😁👍
The Neunaber Immerse does a pretty good job of hitting similar tones.. But yes.. A Valhalla Shimmer pedal would be instabuy.
I lost my sh-t seeing you control a Model D with the Volca Keys... Incredibly well done, thank you for the inspiration!
Sounds like Vangelis the Bounty. Keys and Behringer D sure less expensive than a Yamaha CS-80 fully restored for $25000.00
