Okay, after a couple of days processing, I feel ready to discuss...
My thoughts:
- The way in which they edited this episode was nothing short of brilliance. Don't get me wrong, them dragging out who was killed at the end of S6 was torture but it worked on building suspense so well.
- Abraham - took it like a champ and throwing the peace sign while doing it. What a legend. I predicted it may be Abe, mainly because of Negan's lines whilst swinging Lucile but in all honesty it was still hard to watch. Abe may have took it well but the gang witnessing the attack...not so much :(
- Daryl - he was stupid to retaliate but he just cares so deeply about these people. He didn't have the best family growing up and these people have shown him a true bond! I worry what they'll do to him now, they'll be using him as safety for sure. Rick and the gang will be worried what consequences they'll face if they attempt revenge.
- Now Glenn - poor poor Glenn...I didn't see that coming. I heard rumours of two deaths but I just thought, no they wouldn't be that cruel surely - I have never been more wrong. Glenn was a favourite of mine, he's been there since S1 & brought so much to the show. Seeing him die and in this way was heart wrenching! I literally had to look down so I didnt burst into tears. It was mainly Maggie's reaction that made my stomach sink & also Glenn saying, 'I will find you' gaaaaahhhhhhh! So upsetting!
- Negan - he is the devil at this point. I'm very intrigued by him. It'll be interesting to see if we get his backstory and learn a little more about him. I don't read the comics so I like that i'll be learning about his character for the first time through the show. I didn't like how much enjoyment he got over brutalising Abraham & Glenn. His smile, his laugh, his words - he was loving having the upper hand. Truly scared of him - he knows no bounds. We the audience & also RIck and the gang need to find out more about him - does he have a weakness? Most people do.
- The end scene with the family meal - NO! WHY?! This was too much...the fact that Glenn will never see his child killed me. They all looked so happy! 😭 this scene just emphasises how much of a family these guys are and how deep their connections are. It also shows what could have been, what happiness looks like, how the apocalypse has torn the smaller things in life away & made everything dark & difficult. Such a nice scene but heartbreaking none the less.
Predictions/hopes:
- I hope that Carol & Morgan introduce the people they're with to Rick's group...on first impressions they seem like good guys? idk... I want them to then join forces and also include Jesus and his people to create a solid group/army (safety in numbers). I think they will play it safe cough I hope they will play it safe! When they learn more information about Negan and his group they will plan their attack & get revenge!
- I'm really worried about Maggie and her baby! If that baby dies in her stomach it's going to claw its way out 😳 - I don't want that to happen!! - I'd like to see Negan's base. Where is he holding his army/supplies? There are so many of them!
