I really love how simple and pragmatic you convey the principles. In addition, point taken about not having to do a specific exercise to get to the point.
As a young Army Soldier in an elite unit, competitive boxer, undefeated grappler, only one Wing Tsun master ever shut me down and made me feel helpless. Keith Fain sifu of Clarksville TN. A humble, unassuming, but powerful master. He uproots you with chigerk while breaching your limbs with camming, trapping , and then you see floor & ceiling ending up on your back unable to breath. He's elderly now but still teaches in Clarksville TN.
Energy conservation - big movement to small movement - that's master level stuff! My WC sifu used to jerk me around like a rag doll - constantly keeping me off balance while he never seemed to move. It was like trying to land a punch on a waterfall!
That was cool. That SAM TZE BUI GEE where you let him make a contact. Slipped off into his throat. That’s my style all day. Once I push them away by the windpipe. It’s a CHOY FESTIVAL until it’s over. Or we use a bigger tool. 😉🤛👍💯💥
The trick is to turn off as much muscle as possible and transfer that load onto your fascia, while your fascia is stretched. Your fascia is elastic and has a tensile strength of 2000 pounds per square inch. The reason why Chris doesn't feel resistance is because Adam is absorbing the force into his fascia. The stretch happens from his hands, along his arms, towards his spine, down his spine, and down his legs. Fascia stores kinetic energy and based on the direction of the stretch, it goes downwards into the ground. The fundamental of internal practice is to learn how to activate the fascia without too much influence of the muscle (usually through standing practice, then chisao/pushhands). However this way is very unnatural. The brain is hardwired to use muscle under pressure and difficult to turn off. Don't rely on this method to fight. I'm sure most of you have seen Tai Chi masters get wrecked against MMA fighters. Lol.
He blocked you, because what you do is so predictable. Wing chun's weakness is that it is so inbred, so lacking in powerful stances with rapid, stable movement, varieties of kicks and sweeps, and punches, palms, and claws. Hung Gar, Tang Lang, and numerous others have within their systems all aspects of wing chun, including trapping. This video shows that works best, really well, when there is an attacker who cooperates. Chan's life would be over if he were attacked my an NFL defensive lineman, Linebacker, Cornerback, or even mascot.

Name me a system that has all 16 striking skills the only one near close is wing chun, and I bet you can not name all of them. Do more research bro
