8:00 so ains hesitated in using the hour glass item cos he didnt want to kill shaltear and shaltear was gonna interupt the spell, but aura used her skill to distract shaltear that was the eye you saw behind shaltear allowing ains to use the item and cast the spell, and thats why shaltear said aura cois she knew aura was there casting that spell
"Nigun from sunlight scripture", was the guy ainz killed in episode, I think it was 3 or 4. The one who summoned the "angels". and "the traitor that stole the crown of wisdom" was Clementine who ainz killed in episode 9?
It wasn't mentioned in the anime, but Ains actually didn't kill Nigun (or at least not quickly), he captured him alive to have his memory searched. That's how he got a lot of "common knowledge" about the world. He knows more than us about the history of the world. The 6 great gods, the 13 heroes, the demon kings. He also knows the basic power levels of inhabitants. That's why when masquerading as Momon, he introduced Nabe as a 3rd tier spell caster and he thought that she'd use up to 5th tier if necessary. That's the correct power level for someone pretending to be on the level of adamantine adventurer who might have up to 5th tier magic as their hidden trump card but would advertise themselves as 3rd tier which is already considered powerful. He knows that 7th tier and above would bring too much scrutiny and suspicion.
They're in the 'desert' because Ainz's skill, The Goal of all Life is Death, kills everything in a certain area. It kills even the air and the ground turning it to sand so that 'desert' is actually the range of the skill.
@@Gumshoe08 It was the goal of all life is death enhanced cry of the banshee, no world items were actually used in the fight against Shalltear. Ainz explained away the destruction to the adventurer's guild as the side effects from his crystal sealed spell. Also, It's not unreasonable to say what caused the death was the skill because if memory serves the way it works is: use the skill, cast an instant death spell 12 seconds later the skill recasts the same spell whilst nullifying/ignoring any resistances. In the game this of course didn't effect the environment because it wasn't living per the game mechanics but in the new world where the environment is living rather than code-objects it will kill EVERYTHING in the area of the spell.
Got it mixed up though. What causes the desert is the super skill. Cry of the Banshee removes instant kill resistances. None of the world items they possess are damage focused. They are mostly counters to the uses of other world items. So even had they used any world items it wouldn't cause an effect like that. Super tier magic can only be used by players. There is no way for an npc to cast it as it's too high level to write these onto use items. It's technically higher ranked than world effects when writing onto items even though world effects are stronger. Since some items exist that take you crafting like 9 world items to make certain equipment. That's what the Staff of Ainz Ool Gown is. The most powerful world item we've seen so far. As it's literally like 9 world items in one. Every gem on it is a world item. So the initial comment in this chain is right. =3
They are in a desert because of the skill "The Goal of All Life is Death" and the Widen magic: Cry of the Banshee. TGOALID disables any instant-death immunity while Cry of the Banshee is the instant-death magic. Widen makes the effects AOE. Everything died, including the surroundings.
Widen does not make the effect AOE... it "Widens" the range... Cry of the Banshe is already an AOE but very short one.. Widen just makes the AOE ... AOEer i guess xD
about the slane theocracy at the end: the sunlit scripture refers to the beginning of the series (the guy with the angels at carne village). the windflower scripture and the crown of wisdom refers to the fight with the guy with the scheleton dragons (when he crushed the chick, she's the one that stole the crown and they're chasing after her to retrive it). the black scripture the caster got injured mid cast and couldn't finish the spell
That eye you see at 7:34 is never well explained in the anime but is in the light novel. Aura is the one responsible. She has an ability to project at range to distract creatures. Also the two world items given to the twins isnt really well explained so here: The scroll on Aura's back isolates a target area entirely and modifies the terrain within. The scroll was to make sure the engagement zone was as controlled as possible. The gauntlets given to Mare protect her from negative effects from any possible assailants. This was given to him to pretect Aura, who was protecting Momonga.
As far as names go (no spoilers): the scriptures named are all part of the Slane Theocracy (group that attacked Carne village first few episode), and Nigun was the captain of the group of mages (Sunlight Scripture) that Ains obliterated. The Black Scripture was the group that attacked Shalltear, and Lady Kaire was the one casting the mind control spell that looked like a dragon (the spell was cast using a world tier item, called Downfall of Castle and Country, which was stated in that string of names. Also I believe Kaire was said to be the injured one, not one that died). The Windflower Scripture that was chasing the traitor that stole a crown of Wisdom (traitor is Clementine, girl that kidnapped Nphirea the pharmacist, and the crown of wisdom is the item that was on his head while his eyes were gouged out). Gargantua and Victim are the remaining Guardians we haven't seen yet (back in first episode when he ordered the guardians to gather, he left out two of them). You might be a bit farther ahead on Patreon and learned some of the names or gotten cleared up by other people, but I hope that helps.
Sebas as bait, that's like sitting in your little boat on the lake trying to catch a little bluegill getting a tug on your line and hauling in a very angry Great White shark. Some times there are things you just need to leave alone.
man once again Shalltear's so damn broken, Ainz started the fight with boosting spells while she didn't, and Ainz was still pretty much in deep trouble and had to resort to Premium items to win, good thig Nazarick's Tomb is loyal, cause the floor guardians are insane 🤣
17:03 Clementine(The person who was hugged to death by Ainz) is the traitor who stole the Crown of Wisdom. Nigun is the first guy Ainz fought in the New World. The one with the Angel sealing crystal.
That eye was Aura's doing. Ains hesitated for a moment wondering if the the NPCs even truly want him as their leader, this created an opportunity for Shalltear. Thus Aura intervened affirming Ains that the NPCs want him.
the main downside of [perfect warrior is you get the stat conversion but no skills or passive, but that was enough for Ainz-sama ^^ Gargauna is the 4th-floor guardian and Victim is the 8th, back in eps 2 when giving their vow Albedo says they did not come( as they are special and not normally moved, from their floors.)
13:23 This is the Slane Theocracy... Basically, they are recapping all of the devastation brought onto them by Nazarik... The group that attacked Shalltear was the strongest in their country and they were forced to retreat.... The person who cast the mind control was injured before she could finish the spell and two others died.... And Shalltear wasn't even in battle mode... They were also talking about how the first guy who fought Ainz is missing... he was also a high-ranking officer in the Slane Theocracy...
Mostly right. They also describe the betrayal of clementine. They are kinda recapping all of the bad things that happened to them in general via an overall report. They don't know for sure if all of these were caused by the same group yet though. They are only speculating that something is wrong.
The 2 names you guys heard at the end, Gargantua and Victim, are the floor guardians that didn't show up to Ainz's summon due to their own special circumstances. They will appear in season 2 though.
Alright, so! Equipment time! Touch Me's armor is called Compliance with Law, and was given to him after he won a PvP tournament that also gifted him his World Champion class. Takemikazuchi Hachishiki is the weapon used by Warrior Takemikazuchi, the supreme being who created Cocytus. Its called Hachishiki because its the 8th version of the weapon, which was Warrior Takemikazuchi's passion project to try and defeat Touch Me. The twin daggers are called Amaterasu & Tsukuyomi. They were originally used by Nishikienrai, who was the creator of Narberal Gamma/Nabe. The purple gauntlets are called Female Sensei's Iron Fist of Wrath. They were originally used by Yamaiko, who was the creator of Yuri Alpha and one of the three female members of AOG. They have extreme knockback abilities and can share the effect with other equipment the user has equipped. Houyi's Bow was the weapon used by Peroronchino, the creator of Shalltear (obviously). Blood Sucking Meat Devourer was actually called "Suck the Blood and Eat the Flesh" in the light novels, though it is unknown as to which supreme being actually used it.
That eye was Aura's skill; she distracted Shalltear for just a tiny bit, since Ainz was hesitating a bit. That's why Shalltear calls her out the moment she disintegrates; Shorty is her nickname for Aura. Keep that little talk about the lizardmen in mind for the next season. You shouldn't really be surprised about the church: they're the Slane Theocracy. Remember Nigun, the guy in episodes 3 and 4, who attacked the border villages? You should also remember the scene in which they order him to attack the villages to lure out and kill Gazef Stronoff, the Re-Estize's Kingdom's Royal Headwarrior that Ainz saved in episode 4. Remember that Ainz wiped the floor with Nigun and his troops. And yes, Sebas is a badass, you'll get to enjoy him in the Second half of Season 2. And kudos to you for realizing that the mind control wasn't completed because Shalltear almost wiped that party from the Theocracy out when they encountered her, which forced them to retreat.
Overlord is really lore heavy and its packed with info. every 3 episodes generally cover a whole book so a lot of information is rushed trough on anime only. Keep it going its a very interesting gradual decent into merciless destruction just dont expect to follow and catch absolutely everything. It would be good to have some reference on what faction every person belongs to cuz many characters are not often spoonfed to you.
I like that Shalltear got distracted by Aura's breath at the last second before Ainz wanted to cast the super tier magic. That's why there was an eyeball behind Shalltear, because Aura can do multiple things with her breath. So that eyeball was an decoy of some sort. But sadly it's only explained in the light novel. Aura is OP af.
the timer is the spell's cooldown supertier spell has a long cooldown compared to other spells which can be spammed, in exchange supertier spell dont use mana for fuel also ainz hesitated on breaking the item, if i remember when he was about to break the item he got reminded that resurrection is not yet tested in this world especially if the target is affected by an unknown world item in this new world its the reason why he is weary when resurrecting shalltear, cause the mind control might still persist after resurrection since world item's power is pretty much breaks logic or at least its designed to break the game's norm and he believes it still acts same in the new world since all item he has still works same way
I think you guys would really like the anime Chained Soldier, and Shangri-La Frontier is an amazing video game anime. It would be cool if you reacted to them when you finish something and have another opening.
In the game Yggdrasil the effect of the skill "The Goal of all Life is Death" is to cancel any immunity to death effect of the targets in a certain area, regardless if the immunity is innate (such as for undeads or constructs) or granted (by spells or items). Consequently it doesn't do anything by itself and must be paired with a death effect, here Momonga cast "Cry of the Banshee", a spell inspired by an actual D&D spell which kills anything failing a save roll in the area of effect and with the Overlord class bonus, that save roll is almost impossible to pass. But as we already saw in previous episodes the spells, items and skills from the game can manifest differently in this "reality", such as the undead creation skill taking over actual bodies. In "The Goal of all Life is Death" case the way it manifest in reality is by making everything in the AOE susceptible to death, creatures, inanimate matter even the air. So as the death spell took effect it actually killed everything : Shaltear, the Einherjar, all her summons, the soil which became lifeless sand and the air which in the novel is described as "heavy and improper to sutsain life".
@@enomiellanidrac9137 the novel said "One could resist it by using a resurrection effect on themselves within twelve seconds, as Shalltear had." Which is phrased more as the item just being activated instead of her dying then it being activated
