  • Trying to explain why using an external regulator is the best way to control alternator charging. I fit either the Wakespeed WS500 or Mastervolt Alpha Pro. Official UK dealer for the Wakespeed and I keep good stock inluding both P & N type looms & both battery and alternator temp sensors.
My description is all over the place so check out my website www.fourcountiesmarineservices.com for a more consise and clear writeup.

to see the lithium jobs where I fit these regulators.
Specifically aimed at those with a Victron lithium system installed, and I offer this as a service swapping out a current limiting BMS or DC-DC charger and convert to a better, more powerful and properly controlled and regulated system.
The system I'm showing doesn't take full advantage of the regulators clever features - such as 'small engine mode' or max alternator capping. These features are used with bigger alternators such as those fitted to Beta 43/50/60, Barrus Shire & Canaline (Engines Plus) engines. With those systems charging power is utterly transformed by installing a Wakespeed WS500 or Mastervolt Alpha Pro regulator.

I've had similar put in on my narrowboat with a master volt unit by edd and I can honestly tell you he's the best. Really knows his stuff. Highly recommend him... No question... Cheers edd

Ed fitted an external regulator to my lithium system and it’s totally transformed it especially in the winter
