Thanks for the expository information on this but I think there is still an ambiguity which is knowing whether the MATERNITY PAY is/isn’t a PUBLIC FUND despite being paid by the GOVERNMENT. A new video on that will be appreciated.
Yes it does not make sense but it depends...I've been working with one company for two years and when I became pregnant I had to leave because it was a physical risk to the pregnancy. Since then I could not find a job at all and we are currently in the process of dealing with it 3 months into the pregnancy.
Hi Tochi. You videos have been so insightful and I really appreciate you for it. Is my pregnant wife entitled to free drugs? I am an international student and she came in as my dependant
Tochi, what if you have two employers. Are we going to receive from both employers and government? How many month do you have to work for your employers to be eligible for maternity pay?
What if you are working for different agencies, would u have to get the smp form from all of them before sending it to the govt for maternity allowance?
I think every woman should be smart about informing employers about their status especially whilst job hunting. They don’t openly tell you you’re unqualified for it but somehow you don’t get the job even after doing well
Toshi please my wife Has been working with the NHS as a band 5 nurse for the past 12 months. Now she is 4 months pregnant. She got a new job as a Band 6 Senior staff nurse with ANOTHER NHS. Please i want to know will she be entitled to the Maternity pay and leave?
Hi tochi were you entitled to statutory maternity pay or the maternity allowance.. I have work with nhsp from when I was 8 weeks till when I was 30 weeks plus and I was told I wasn’t entitled to statutory maternity pay
I got pregnant before i started working . Didn't plan for it though . By my calculations i would have worked 6 months before my baby will be born by God's grace . I earn 384.375 weekly . Pls which one will i be entitled to . I work with a private firm
Pls does this SMP apply to all NHS trust or does it depend on a particular NHS policy Like I knew someone that work with NHS ,she started work in June 2021,and her expected date of delivery is May 2022 and the trust is saying she is not still eligible, but by calculation according to wat u said ,she has even worked 33wks,and still have 15weeks before her due date What can she do pls?
Hi applied it for like 5 weeks ago and they back to me that I’m eligible and they gonna pay me like £151 a week and then I received a letter to confirm to them my last working day and when I want start get payed…. But I haven’t received any payment yet , do I have to contact them or what ??
Hi, Esther Your video has always helped me withy personal queries.. Probably I would have qualified for SMP with my employer. But guess what? After my VISA I was told to hold on for some set of Nurses to make a Cohort. So I got pregnant during the period and missed fee weeks of service. But with this information, I know inshAllah I will be qualified for Maternity allowance after 8 months of working. Thanks a lot sis.
it depends if the person is an international student in the UK, three months after the baby is born the woman will be liable for NHS surcharge.Students will have to inform their university as they cannot extend their visa to give birth in the UK
Maternity allowance is bae, I’m a strong advocate of it. I received it when I had my first child and it’s the sweetest money I’ve ever received in my life. Felt like free money to me😅
Heya Thanks for the information.. my due date is on 1st feb and i m not entitled for SMP.. I wanted to know wthr i cn apply for maternity allowance and universal credit together or oly 1 of this.
I’m a student and have worked for more than 6months with my current employer, and my boss just informed about the smp but someone raised a caution on if a student is permitted to enjoy such a benefit., that it might affect visa transition . Kindly help me verify these
Thank you so much @Tochi
