Teaching from the heart is always so much more powerful than just trying to fill a student's head. Thank you for sharing your passion with everyone. It always feels timely and right on track. ❤
Hi Stephen! You hit straight to the point! When you feel your work is no worthy, it's like if you were a 'humble' student: selling your art cheap (many times, giving it just for free) and giving yourself very little credit, when should be the opposite and have a lot of value for your art and yourself. Fear is the worst enemy anyone can have, so it's the first that we all must be facing with courage! The rest... well! I think it's easier... Have a good one!
These talks are so relevant. Even as a life approach in general. I've been in a slump for quite sometime now and listening to this is really helping cause people / documentaries often gloss over the mental battles / internal conflict stuff... Definitely motivating. Thanks for these videos!
Stephen Silver When was it that you met Mort at SDCC ? -it probably was when i met you at Seaport Village before you were well known. -also how long did you draw on your own before you went out there to show your work. thankx
Inspiring, as ever! That helps me a lot, even more from what I'm strungling nowadays. For that, I thank you for sharing, Stephen. Can't wait for a schoolism class of yours in the future :)
Definitely a great pep talk! I am actually doing my first convention as an artist this weekend! I got a booth and going to sell some prints and do some commission. I am excited and can't wait to interact with the people. Even if I only sell a couple of prints, at least I am getting myself out there and showing people what I can do.
Yeah, this is something I need to listen when people around me aren't supportive of the route I wish to take. Very unhelpful. I find it disappointing and sad that I have to get my inspirations from a series of tubes. :P
Yeah I always hate how these successful artists don't tell people the struggles they went through and made it seem like they were naturally good at drawing. I saw a panel where Eric Goldberg talked and he says when he draws a character he doesn't do a construction drawing he just draws them and naturally has the sense of anatomy. It's just so frustrating to hear because it perpetuates the myth that art has to do with natural ability and not hard work and talent
I always keep telling my self that i would be the greatest artist. But after few weeks i always lost my confidence. I don't know maybe because of my bad art or no motivation . And my subconscious mind can't even think about art. I know that my motivation will come back after few weeks but it always like up's and down. It never keep it constant. What should i do to keep it constant. Because art is a drug for me. And when i'm not doing art. I feel like i'm not living my life. Any advice ?
