Jon was a treasure, as is everyone else in Deep Purple including Steve Morse. I wish the other faction of our fan base wasn't so dogmatic. Steve is one of the finest guitarists in the world and Ritchie himself says no different. Any Purple fan should be able to admire and appreciate both.
A great tribute to Jon Lord. Older vid's ,just not filmed as well. But this shows Deep Purple being LED by Lord, often overlooked as co-writer of "Smoke On the Water" and other classic songs. As the "other leader" of Deep Purple, here's to you Jon Lord, thanks for the music and for enjoying it for so many years.
This very solo made me 10 years ago to make the transition from piano to organ. I ran a small yamaha keyboard through a distortion pedal. Kind of a beast. Rest is history.
Every time I see and hear Jon Lord perform, I cannot control the tears, What an incredible musician, a true GENTLEMAN. A beautiful soul. Don Airey is the perfect guy to take over for Jon, Love Don's playing. A very talented musician, I say this with tears in my eyes - WE LOVE YOU - WE MISS YOU - YOU'LL BE IN OUR HEARTS AND - (EARS) FOREVER. R.I.P JON LORD. ...
Jon Lord was much more than a genius! Saw him back in ´89 in very small concert together with Pete York, Colin Hodgekinson, Miller Anderson, Zoot Money, Tony Ashton when I was a kid. Not knowing what an epic evening I was part of - cause I just was a kid at eleven years. Sadly never got the chance to see him live again. Having had tickets for a small show again in the Bluesgarage in Germany, he passed away... RIP. :-(
Something I think gets lost in the sauce are Jon's amazing intro's. Thery never let on what is coming and then boom here's the headline tune! What a brilliant player!
best song ever!!! i can listen 1000times this song. Always the best. John was a gift to music. He always did his thing and it was always gigantic great! Also THIS song. Soooo good!!
What a great and humble man Steve Morse is... His energy and gestures on the stage definitely gives positive vibes. Great man he is... And the other members? Come on guys... This is Deep Purple!

The day of the real musician is truly missed! Grab an instrument and keep it alive. Nothing is as honest and pure as a group of real musicians performing a song. With tempo changes small fuckups. The sound of music with a real soul, not a binary code.
People go on about Ritchie Blackmore being the key to Deep Purple but I've always thought, with all due respect to Don Airey who's great, that it was Jon Lord & his Hammond organ that made Deep Purple work. Dont get me wrong because Ritchie is my number one guitar hero even playing the stuff he plays in Blackmores Night.
Love the mix of piano and growling Hammond at the beginning. Superb number from Machine Head (not a bad track on that album). I also have this show on cd, fine performance.
If you watch this closely, you will see that Deep Purple is ten times Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath(For God'sakes}. Gillan exposes all his vocals and harmonica, Lord is nuts, Glover on bass, and Pierce on drums that just kill.

I was at this Concert, and blessed to see The Master Jon Lord play one of the best renditions of Lazy.
He was and still is The Greatest

But Steve is not Purple, never was. Purple is a thing other but a fine guitar player.
And Simon McBride is a hell of a six stringer also 🙌
@@rickblackers88 ...........sorry, absolute bullshit.

You are wise. Thank you, because that`s it :)
Jon Lord is the GOAT on keyboards hands down!!!!!
Он Гений клавишь !!!
A lot of guitar players could have sat in for Richie but there was only one Jon Lord. He was the Deep Purple sound.
They were lucky to get Don Arey... and I would never compaire those giants, who made this wonderful Purple-Journey possible :) Love from here !

Growing up I played a Hammond organ and Jon was my musical hero! Great talent and sorely missed!

The greatest keyboardist that ever lived
They look very happy with Steve Morse and having a good time and all perfectly skilled.
Joe Satriani showed them that you can have fun playing and Steve Morse gave them stability
