Fortnine's video on this bike is a must watch. Hilarious ending.

      "DESMO" 🤣
Fortnine's vid helped me in the decision to purchase my DesertX.
The DDX was my first Ducati purchase too.

But did Fortnine do a follow up on that bike, if he did really buy one, or did I get it all wrong!??

I've owned my '23 for 5 months now. Doing a 6k mile oil change this afternoon. 😀
    The DesertX has performed flawlessly.

Commenting on video about people recording themselves running, meanwhile recording oneself riding a motorcycle in circles in a parking lot. Peak social media 😉.

Ive owned this bike for a month now. The seat hurts, full race exhaust is the ducati sound you are looking for. I dont have the throttle problem. Wind screen is ok. There should only be 3 types of motorcycles, Race, Touring and Desert X.

Ducati spacer's is how most Ducatista's take a bit of the throttle slack out. Super cheap and easy mod.

You're spot on about the gearing. Around town I was never in the right gear, which is just the opposite of my 1250GS which felt as though it was never in the wrong gear. I think it's a combo of the gear spacing and also the lack of low end torque that this bike makes. 1st and 2nd are very close, but you have to go pretty deep into the RPM's on 2nd gear or else when you hit third it's lugging. Around town I'm just constantly toggling between 2nd and 3rd.

You need the Termignoni race exhaust system (de-cat) to make the DDX sound proper.
I have it on mine. Got it 6 weeks ago, have 1700 miles on it already.

Debating on adding the Ducati race exhaust. Ducati website says 106db with baffle, 109db without baffle. Is it obnoxiously loud? I want that Ducati deep thumping sound , but crazy ear ringing loud. Thoughts?

I've been very pleased with the sound. Yet to install the baffle.
It has a great rumble without any obnoxious drone IMHO.
Nothing but positive comments from everyone who has heard it.

AMS Ducati Dallas has a vid where Marty revs a DesertX fitted with the Termi race exhaust system.
AMS is my local dealer. Marty demo'ed that very bike in the vid before I purchased mine.

My first Ducati was a '19 Monster 1200s, and when I got my DesertX, I started to think maybe I don't need the Monster... Then I slapped myself. As sporty as the DDX is on road, (while not nearly as fast, it's actually more confidence inspiring than the Monster) it's not a sport bike. I love them both, but being able to strap my gear on and go adventuring is the entire point of the DDX, of which I've certainly enjoyed. I do take weekend/day trips on the Monster (the seat is surprisingly comfortable and better than the DDX), just load a small pack and hotel camp. Planning a long DesertX trip next year rather than travel overseas. Three weeks of exploring the US on my DDX sounds fantastic. Oh, and heated grips. This is the way.

Wonderful video! As to the question of the driving modes, I’d say that if you live in a heavy traffic city, a smoother throttle response is appreciated so you can dive yourself into the cars without worrying about a harsh engine response

Ducati extras are like having breakfast at Tiffanys pricing, i would be looking after market. The other problem with that bike is you can't reset the maintenance indications such as oil without going to ducati much like the BMW's. It's like an iPhone that you buy but never own 100 percent. Can you please compare it to your IBEX, 17 grand vs 10.

Not sure if Ducati is the same, but on my Aprillia the throttle has the same dead space if I don't have AEM at the lowest setting. So you have to have the bike set up for giving it all of the beans for the throttle to feel right. Any other setting and you get that dead space, which is super annoying.

  • @EchoConstellation

I was really hoping the seat would rival the SuperSport seat.
That’s the best factory seat on any sport bike.

Recently got the new KTM 790 Adventure (sadly not available in the US), and paid around $8000 (in practical most people terms, through a finance deal) less than this bike off the floor. I'd argue I've purchased a better bike, or at least a very very close to this bike bike...8k is quite the premium in the same class (before you even talk about Ducati dealer service cost and intervals)!

Yeah, super awesome for Ducati with aftermarket parts at prices BMW must envy. How about heated grips 400USD, Turn by turn connectivity and phone connectivety package almost 500 USD, Termignoni slip on with no good sound: 2000 USD. Yeah, super awesome.

I've gotten over 50 mpg on a few tanks of gas. Went over 240 miles and took just under 5 gallons to fill it up.
I normally see around 48 mpg when used for commuting.
I have 6k miles on a 2023, have the Termignoni race exhaust and EVO tune on it.

The DesertX in this vid has the base "slip on" Termignoni exhaust upgrade.
The premium exhaust upgrade for this bike is the full race (de-cat) Termignoni titanium system, drops around 9lbs of weight off the bike. It also comes with an EVO tune that pushes the motor to around 120hp.
Best part, it doesn't void the Ducati warranty.
I've yet to install the db killer tube on my DesertX Termi full race system. 😊

      Interesting.
I'll need to consult my dealer to see if the race exhaust changes the 9k mile oil change interval on the DesertX.
I'm only having the dealer do the scheduled oil changes (9k mile interval).
I'm doing my own changes (with Ducati/Shell 15w-50 T1 oil and Ducati filter) at 3k mile and 6k mile.
Beyond the first 9k miles, I'll be doing my own oil changes at mid point (4.5k mile) between the dealer 9k required services. I have the 5 year transferable warranty option on my bike. Making sure to have dealer do all the required work to maintain that warranty.
I would think if Ducati changed service requirements, that the EVO engine tune (downloaded at time of Termignoni race exhaust system install) would also have downloaded the revised service schedule to the Service Interval Indicator (SII) software in the bike.
Ducati would have a hard time denying warranty claims on repairs if the owner WASN'T informed IN WRITING of revised service intervals due to a dealer installed option, and/or the EVO engine tune software DIDN'T revise the SII.
